Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Let Go of the President’s Arrogance
Today’s Ivy River is truly terrifying...
Looks like I need to reassess her.
"How did Director Chadwick manage to hire this devil? Aren’t you all scared just looking at her? Why don’t we all sign a petition to get her fired, sob sob."
Evelyn King covered her face and burst into tears.
Isabella Yeaton couldn’t stand it and went up to help her.
But she was shoved harshly, stumbling several times before she steadied herself.
Evelyn King sobbed, "I don’t need your fake sympathy, a slap and then a sweet date, I don’t need it! If you’re going to be her lapdog, watch out, you might end up like me next time."
"And you all, bystanders who love the drama! Next time you’ll end up like this too!"
The onlookers immediately dispersed.
Next time?
Could there be a next time?
Next time you might lose your life, it’s ridiculous.
But Evelyn King is something else, even like this, she can still threaten them with harsh words.
Seems like she hasn’t suffered enough, hopefully, Ivy River won’t hold back next time.
With no more drama to watch, Edwin Blake was about to walk away.
He was stopped by Isla Sutton grabbing his sleeve, "Edwin, where are you going?"
Edwin Blake frowned, instinctively shaking off her hand, "Weren’t you going to see that doctor?"
"No, never mind, she’s not in the right state now, I’ll come back in a few days."
Edwin Blake nodded, "Then you should leave first, didn’t you drive yourself? I need to see a doctor, don’t wait for me."
He finished speaking and before Isla Sutton could react, he walked straight to Ivy River’s ward and pushed the door open.
Ivy River looked up, her eyes filled with coldness, "What are you here for if you’re not leaving?"
Edwin Blake didn’t respond but glanced at Harry Ross.
Harry Ross immediately understood, quickly taking out Edwin Blake’s health check report, and thoughtfully said, "Ma’am, this report from the President is a comprehensive one, and it shows no abnormalities."
"Why come to me if there’s nothing abnormal?"
Edwin Blake looked at her, "A few days ago you said there was something wrong with my body, so I got checked, and this is the result."
Ivy River flipped through the report and couldn’t help but laugh when she saw the reproductive section.
"President Blake, not very confident, are we?"
Edwin Blake didn’t know what she was laughing at, went over to see, and was immediately red with anger, taking away the page on male health.
"Harry Ross! If you don’t want to work anymore, just tell me!"
Harry Ross didn’t know what he did wrong but he excelled in apologizing.
"President, I’m sorry, I assure you I won’t do this again."
"Get out!"
Harry Ross quickly scrambled to the door, waiting for orders.
Looking closely, Edwin Blake’s face was slightly flushed.
Yet he still spoke coldly, "Ivy River, you have the report now, circle what you identified last time, I want to see where the problem lies."
Ivy River had a headache.
Why is Edwin Blake so difficult?
"I told you, you’re poisoned, what’s the point of checking your body, getting a CT scan, is it to see if your brain is broken?"
Ivy River unkindly started ranting while holding several reports, "Also getting an MRI, what’s that for? To check if you’re missing a brainstem, or to see how much of your heart has been consumed by your ruthlessness?"
Edwin Blake: "..."
This sharp tongue, she sure doesn’t hold back.
"How come I never noticed how talkative that little mouth of yours is before?"
Ivy River snapped, "Did you ever pay attention to me before? Your attention was on someone else, President Blake, do I need to remind you?"
Edwin Blake touched his nose awkwardly, "No need."
"Then get out, my office doesn’t welcome you."
Ivy River unceremoniously kicked him out.
Edwin Blake wasn’t in a hurry, stood up, and poured himself a glass of water.
Just after drinking it.
Ivy River suddenly spoke, "I put something in that water, it was originally meant for watering the flowers today."
Edwin Blake choked violently upon hearing that.
He spat the water out completely.
"Ivy River, this is not something to joke about."
Ivy River said coldly, "I’m just teasing you, President Blake so afraid of death?"
Edwin Blake knew he fell for her trick, skipped the topic.
"The house you’re living in now isn’t a school district house, do you need me to help you change to a house, a flat at Lakeside Garden, that’s tied to the best school in Seaton."
Ivy River leaned back on the chair, "You came just for this?"
"You need to think for the children."
Edwin Blake squinted, staring closely at her.
Ivy River laughed, "Think of what, gold will always shine, my children don’t need you to worry."
"They are my children too, the house at Lakeside is very close to the kindergarten, small, middle, and high schools have excellent faculty, good security, it’s safe, and most importantly this house is my love for them."
"Not buying, don’t have money."
Edwin Blake listened to her emotionless voice and continued persuading.
"No problem, I’ll give it to you, no, I’m giving it to the children, you just get the benefit and live there."
Ivy River replied lightly, "Still no, I won’t accept charity."
A burst of anger surged in Edwin Blake’s chest.
Just as he was about to get angry, he heard Harry Ross standing at the door knocking on a wooden fish, loudly chanting, "President, President, don’t get angry, for the children you have to cheer up, you have to work hard."
Edwin Blake: "..."
Right, everything he’s doing now is for the children.
So, he continued putting aside his noble President identity, turning into a good real estate agent.
"This isn’t charity, it’s something I’m giving to compensate the kids, you’ve worked hard raising them for so many years, now letting them live better is the least I can do."
Ivy River sneered, "You mean to say, I’ve mistreated them all these years, and you’re saying I’ve been housing them in shacks."
"No, don’t think of me as so extreme."
"Okay, then let me tell you, I won’t need the house, we’re quite happy living where we are now, and the little villa is very free, it has a garden, and the kids have space to play."
Ivy River was indifferent.
In the eyes of a capitalist like him, only when it’s in the right location, maximizing benefits, it’s the best.
But he neglects children’s mental health.
Edwin Blake frowned, "Ivy River, why are you so stubborn?"
Ivy River was impervious, "Besides, you know my status, I’m not short of money, living in the suburbs just for peace and space, a successful businessman like President Blake shouldn’t worry about my kids."
Edwin Blake looked at this woman covered in thorns, and for a moment didn’t know what to do.
"I just want to give the kids the best environment..."
Ivy River coldly interrupted, "It’s unnecessary, they are only my children, President Blake, you should understand this, don’t keep warm to cold, it will damage your esteemed status."
Edwin Blake squinted, "Fine, you don’t want it, right?"
Ivy River nodded, serious, "No, I don’t."
"You said it, don’t regret later."
Ivy River mocked, "If you have that energy marry Isla Sutton soon, it’s more realistic to let her have a kid for you."
"I’m not marrying her."
Edwin Blake frowned, instinctively refusing.
