Chapter 1066: Chapter 1057: Kiss Marks (3)
In the film, Xia Siyu froze in that instant, her eyes brimming with tears. But she held back; she didn’t let the tears fall. Her body subtly tensed, her fists clenched tightly, and she turned away, twisting her head aside as she walked off, disappearing at the end of the road.
Left behind were only the male lead and female lead, who continued to gaze at her departing figure.
Of course, Xia Siyu’s scenes weren’t entirely over yet. There was still a minor tail end that seemed to hint at the possibility of follow-ups—if the movie turned out to be well-received.
However, throughout the progression of the plot, the supporting female character no longer had many important scenes; she could withdraw from the story line.
Afterward, the plot continued: the male and female leads completed their performance at the music festival. He resolved his inner conflicts and reconciled with his parents. It was then revealed that the woman his parents had intended to introduce to him all along was the female lead.
And so, the entire movie came to an end.
After watching the film, it was a rare moment of absolute silence in the cinema. Everyone quietly sat in their seats.
It wasn’t until the lights in the theater illuminated the room that the audience seemed to awaken from a dream and erupted in ferocious applause.
Following that, the premiere was far from over. The next segment was the actor Q&A session. As the director and the leading cast members in the front row stood up, everyone’s gazes, almost as if by some unspoken agreement, fell directly on Xia Siyu!
Even though they knew of the scandals surrounding her, her domineering personality, and her tarnished reputation.
But her performance was just too stunning, and she was far too beautiful. Before watching the movie, no one would have believed that she and Bo Yan could exhibit such an exaggerated sense of chemistry. Moreover, her scenes with Bo Yan and Shang Feifei showed no signs of hesitation or fear. In places where there were subtleties that weren’t handled perfectly, she could even suppress the flaws with sheer presence, leaving the audience with no sense of disconnection.
At the same time, the audience could finally understand why, during the initial casting process, Xia Siyu had insisted on ousting Li Yiru to take on the role of this second female lead.
She was simply too perfect for this role, almost as if it was tailored specifically for her. Some fans even started imagining what kind of outcome it would have been if Li Yiru had replaced Xia Siyu to play this supporting character.
It was hard to say for certain, but if it had indeed been Li Yiru, the role wouldn’t have been nearly as captivating and wouldn’t have left such a profound impression.
Even Bo Yan’s most vehement detractors, who couldn’t stand Xia Siyu to the bone, had to admit that these two were remarkably compatible in the film. Their dynamic even surpassed the collaboration between Bo Yan and Shang Feifei, giving off a purely magnetic allure of mutual attraction between a man and a woman—even though the two characters were “enemies.”
Soon, the leads ascended the stage, and the official premiere meet-and-greet commenced. The audience was allowed to ask questions, as were reporters and members of the press.
Xia Siyu and Shang Feifei still stood on either side of Bo Yan.
Wang Zisu was energetically raising his hand from the audience below. Unfortunately, no one called on him. The first person selected to speak was a reporter, who stood and introduced herself, “I’m a journalist from XX Entertainment. I’d like to ask Director Wang, what was the basis for the selection process when choosing the cast?”
Wang Ju chuckled, “There wasn’t much to it. Whoever fits the role best gets to play it.”
With that one line, he sidestepped the controversy of Li Yiru’s earlier allegations accusing Xia Siyu of stealing the role. Looking back now, it was evident that Xia Siyu was indeed the better fit for the part.
The second speaker came out swinging with considerable tension, directly addressing Xia Siyu: “I’m a reporter from XX Network. I want to ask Xia Siyu—there’s word that you didn’t get along well with certain individuals while on set?”
