Chapter 246: Chapter 246 Silent Weeping

"Wuwu... Waa..."

"Mom... Mommy... Don’t cry..."

"Mommy won’t cry..."

Er Bao and Sanbao clung to Tang Yuxin’s legs, one on each side, looking up with tear-filled eyes.

Da Bao leaned gently against Xiao Fei’s leg, rubbing his little face against his pant leg.

Tang Yuxin froze. Seeing how her crying had made her three adorable babies cry as well, she immediately tried to stop herself and worked to hold back her tears.

Wiping away the corners of her watery eyes, Tang Yuxin, whose eyes were still red, squatted down and gently pulled Er Bao and Sanbao into her arms.

"Mommy won’t cry. Babies, you shouldn’t cry either, okay?"

"No more crying..."

"Wuwu... no crying... wuwu..."

Though they said they wouldn’t cry, the three little ones couldn’t stop as quickly as Tang Yuxin had.

Xiao Fei picked up Da Bao and walked over to Bai Zheyan.

"Alright now, wipe away those tears. The kids are crying because of you."

Bai Zheyan forced a smile. "Brother Xiao, I’m sorry for letting you see this."

"What are you saying?"

In Xiao Fei’s arms, Da Bao reached out his hand and softly patted Little Yu, who had buried her head on Bai Zheyan’s shoulder.

"Little Yu... don’t cry..."

Little Yu stayed silent. Though her tears kept streaming, she had stopped sobbing aloud.

Yet this silent crying only made the three adults’ hearts ache even more.

This child was holding too much pain.

Bai Zheyan was suddenly overwhelmed with guilt, wishing he could slap himself hard.

What had he been thinking, leaving this child at Xiao Fei’s home for so many days?

Even if he didn’t want Little Yu to know something had happened to He Tong, this was still far too cruel.

"Daddy..."

At that moment, Little Yu finally spoke.

"Yes, Daddy’s here."

"Where’s Mommy...?"

The moment she asked this question, Bai Zheyan became unsure how to respond.

After a long pause, Bai Zheyan said softly, "Mommy is asleep."

"Asleep?"

"Yes, Mommy’s asleep."

Little Yu pouted and said, "Daddy... I don’t want any presents anymore. Can I go see Mommy?"

Presents?

Xiao Fei saw the flicker of confusion in Bai Zheyan’s eyes and quickly chimed in, "Little Yu, be good. The present your mommy and daddy prepared will be ready soon; it’ll be delivered to you shortly."

Suddenly, Bai Zheyan understood and nodded. "Yes, yes, Mommy and Daddy have already prepared your present. You’ll get it soon, and you’ll love it."

"I... I miss Mommy... I really miss Mommy..."

The child was only two years old!

To be suddenly separated from her parents for days, without warning or preparation...

How could a two-year-old bear such pain?

After much internal struggle, Bai Zheyan finally decided to let Little Yu see He Tong.

"Daddy will take you to see Mommy in a bit. But Mommy is still asleep, so we have to be very quiet, okay?"

"Okay~"

Little Yu nodded earnestly. "Little Yu won’t wake Mommy up."

Tang Yuxin couldn’t hold back anymore.

She bit her lips tightly, trying her hardest not to sob aloud.

Without resting, Bai Zheyan hurried to Xiao Fei’s home to pick up Little Yu and prepared to take her to the hospital to see He Tong.

Xiao Fei and Tang Yuxin exchanged a glance.

"Husband, should we go too?"

After spending the past two days with Little Yu, Tang Yuxin had already come to see her as her own child.

This sweet, adorable, and sensible little girl had captured Tang Yuxin’s heart.

Now, seeing everything unfold, Tang Yuxin’s affection was layered with deep sympathy, making her unable to bear seeing Little Yu being wronged in any way.

Xiao Fei did not refuse.

And so, the three adults packed into the car with the four children and headed to the hospital.

On the way there, Little Yu didn’t smile much, her eyes fixed on the road outside the car window.

It was as though she believed that if she kept looking, her mommy would suddenly appear.

When they arrived at the hospital, Bai Zheyan carried Little Yu, while Xiao Fei and Tang Yuxin held the other three children as they entered the hospital room together.

As soon as they stepped in, Little Yu saw her grandparents and her maternal grandparents in the room.

The little girl politely greeted them, her eyes filled with confusion.

Why were Grandpa and Grandma, and Grandpa and Grandma from Mommy’s side, all here?

But this question didn’t linger long as Little Yu’s attention was quickly drawn to He Tong, lying in the hospital bed.

The child didn’t understand.

She didn’t know what had happened to her mom or that He Tong might never wake up again.

But even though she believed her daddy that Mommy was only asleep, Little Yu instinctively felt sorrowful.

Her tears began to fall again. While still in Bai Zheyan’s arms, she struggled to reach toward He Tong.

"Mommy...!"

"Mommy...!"

Her voice was soft, as if she was genuinely afraid of waking her sleeping mom.

Bai Zheyan quickly carried Little Yu closer to the bed and knelt down.

Little Yu placed her tiny hands on the edge of the bed, her tear-filled eyes fixed on He Tong, while her little face rubbed against the white blanket.

She wanted to touch her mommy’s forehead, nose, even her lips, hoping that Mommy would wake up soon.

Little Yu wanted to kiss her mommy, but she was too scared to disturb her rest.

In the end, her eyes were red and swollen, but still, she held back from crying aloud.

Watching his daughter, Bai Zheyan hugged her tightly, his heart breaking.

Meanwhile, Xiao Fei and Tang Yuxin’s children were all unusually quiet.

Each nestled in their parents’ arms, silently watching everything unfold before them.

Da Bao clung to Xiao Fei’s neck, turning his head to stare at the bed, his eyes blinking curiously.

He then turned back to look at Xiao Fei.

"Daddy...?"

"Hmm?"

Da Bao opened his mouth as if to say something but chose not to.

Xiao Fei gazed at his precocious child and had the faint sense that Da Bao understood what was happening.

He took a deep look around the hospital room before exchanging a glance with Tang Yuxin. The couple then left the room with their three children, giving Bai Zheyan’s family some private time.

Out in the hallway.

Da Bao suddenly asked, "Daddy, is Auntie dead?"

"No," Xiao Fei immediately replied.

Er Bao followed with another question. "Daddy, why isn’t Auntie waking up? It’s not nighttime yet."

"Because Auntie is very tired."

This time, Tang Yuxin answered. She kissed Er Bao on the cheek.

"Being a mommy is very tiring, and being a daddy is too."

The children pouted.

Sanbao whispered, "I... I’ll be very, very good from now on. Daddy and Mommy, don’t sleep during the day, okay?"

"I’ll be good too."

"...I’ll be very, very good too..."

After Sanbao spoke, Er Bao and Da Bao quickly chimed in.

Xiao Fei and Tang Yuxin smiled warmly.

Their little ones made their hearts swell with love and affection, each day a little more than the last.
