Chapter 853: Chapter 0853: Mother-in-law Looks at Son-in-law
Long Fei walked out to face a group of security guards, giving Liuu Ruyan a faint smile.
Liuu Ruyan avoided his gaze, thinking to herself, "Isn’t this guy shameless, following me from the cafeteria to here?"
The head of the security guards, seeing Long Fei’s tall and sturdy figure and the group ranting, cursed, "Damn it, which class are you from? Don’t you want to stay in school anymore?"
Long Fei responded directly, "Second year, Department of Physical Education, Long Fei. If you’re not convinced, feel free to complain about me to the academic affairs office!"
The security chief swore, "I’m dealing with the problem, what the fuck is it to you, why the hell are you butting in?"
Long Fei snickered, "You call bullying women and children ’dealing with problems’? Were all your ancestors dogs?"
The surrounding vendors burst into laughter, feeling a sense of relief.
Usually, if they wanted to set up a stall near the school, they had to look at the head of security’s face, and sometimes they even had to bribe him with cigarettes and alcohol.
"You’re really asking for it!"
The security chief, unable to save face, yelled at the group of guards, "Beat him up for me; if he dies, I’ll take responsibility!"
The security guards swung their batons and charged at Long Fei as if they had received an Imperial Decree.
They were used to fighting and worked well together.
Four men swung their batons from four directions, striking hard enough to scare both Liuu Ruyan and her mother into retreating backward.
Mother Liuu, worried, shouted repeatedly, "Don’t hit him, we’ll leave, isn’t that okay?"
But before her words fell, there was a loud bang, and all four security guards were sent flying away from Long Fei.
Long Fei posed in the style of the Eight Trigrams Fist, swiftly launching eight false palm strikes.
The four guards rolled on the ground, clutching their stomachs, spitting out blood as if they had been hit by stones.
The security chief broke out in a cold sweat, realizing he was dealing with a trained martial artist.
He ordered his men to quickly help their four brothers up and pointed at Long Fei, cursing, "You just wait, kid. If the school doesn’t expel you tomorrow, I’ll write my name, Xu Gui, backwards!"
The group retreated into the school, and Long Fei did not give chase.
The onlookers clapped their hands, treating Long Fei like a hero.
Long Fei smiled and gave a fist salute in return, then helped Liuu Ruyan’s mother set the table and benches back up.
Seeing his smug look, Liuu Ruyan doused him with a metaphorical bucket of cold water, "You’re really stupid. If you’re going to fight, just fight. Why did you have to reveal your identity earlier? Aren’t you afraid they’ll tell the school?"
Long Fei chuckled lightly, "Are you worried about me?"
"Get lost!"
Liuu Ruyan was at a loss for words, waving her hand, "You can leave now, we don’t need you here anymore."
Mother Liuu frowned upon hearing this, handed Long Fei a bottle of Coke, and chastised her daughter, "Ruyan, how can you talk to a classmate like that? He just helped us; you should be thanking him!"
"Mom, you don’t understand. He’s just a thug..."
Liuu Ruyan tried to argue urgently, intending to say that Long Fei was a hoodlum, but before she could say it, Long Fei interjected, "That’s right, Auntie, I’m an exchange student. I have special privileges in school, and security can’t touch me."
Liuu Ruyan widened her eyes, thinking to herself, How thick-skinned can this man be?
Mother Liuu exclaimed in surprise, "An exchange student? From which country? You don’t look like a foreigner."
Long Fei bluffed, "From America. My ancestors were Chinese people who emigrated from Binhai City, so I was born looking just like us."
Mother Liuu said excitedly, "Then I’m relieved. I was really worried about what to do since you fought with them!"
Liuu Ruyan held her head, no longer wanting to look at Long Fei.
The guy was not only shameless but had an incredibly thick skin; he could spew such nonsensical stories.
Long Fei looked at her with an odd smile and turned to Mother Liuu, "Auntie, Yan’er and I are very good friends at school. You can set up your stall here without worry; I know some people at school. I’ll give them a call later."
"That would be great! That would be great!"
Seeing Long Fei’s polite demeanor, Mother Liuu felt a surge of joy.
She scolded Liuu Ruyan, "Yan’er, your temper is just too stubborn. In the future, when dealing with people, ask Student Long for advice, got it?"
Liuu Ruyan replied impatiently, "Mom, what do you know!"
She picked up a burlap cloth and wiped the table in front of Long Fei, clearly trying to hurry him along, "Your class is starting soon, aren’t you leaving?"
Long Fei checked the time and said deliberately, "Isn’t it still early? My class isn’t until ten-thirty, and there’s still an hour left!"
Mother Liuu called out, "Student Long, are you hungry? Try some of my cooking; we sell the genuine Guanzhong cold noodles."
"Sure!"
Long Fei smiled and nodded, a mischievous grin as he glanced at Liuu Ruyan and chatted nonsense with Mother Liuu, "Auntie, when I was in America, I loved Guanzhong’s roujiamo and cold noodles the most."
"That’s great, as long as you’re accustomed to it!"
Mother Liuu stood up, went to the snack cart, and quickly put on disposable gloves to start preparing the cold noodles for Long Fei.
Liuu Ruyan asked softly beside Long Fei, "What exactly are you trying to do?"
"Eat cold noodles?"
Long Fei looked calm as he reached for a pair of chopsticks and tore the package open.
Liuu Ruyan said sullenly, "The cold noodles from my house are expensive, ten yuan a bowl. Roujiamo is twenty yuan each, can you afford that?"
She purposely exaggerated the prices, hoping to scare off this annoying ghost.
Mother Liuu overheard and scolded, "Ruyan, what has gotten into you today? When have our cold noodles ever been that expensive? Besides, Student Long has helped us, how could I take his money?"
She served a bowl of well-mixed cold noodles, the sesame paste fragrant, the bright red chili oil glistening, sprinkled with sesame seeds and spices, and topped with strands of cucumber—it looked delicious.
Long Fei said to Mother Liuu with a chuckle, "Auntie, in America, it’s not customary to treat someone to a meal; we have to settle everything clearly no matter what we do."
"Is that so?"
Mother Liuu looked apologetic and said to Long Fei, "Then I’ll give you a discount, let’s make it five yuan."
"Mom, why don’t you just listen to him and be done with it?"
Liuu Ruyan hurriedly intervened, wanting to expose Long Fei’s pretense, and deliberately said, "He’s a student from America, loaded with money. Roujiamo with cold noodles, thirty yuan, not a penny less."
"Fine, make sure you calculate it properly. I can eat a lot."
Long Fei curled his lips slightly, waiting for Mother Liuu to finish making the roujiamo, then began eating, alternating between bites of roujiamo and cold noodles.
Liuu Ruyan pursed her lips, thinking let’s see how long you can keep this act up.
Cold noodles and roujiamo for thirty yuan, it’s going to pain you.
Long Fei’s appetite surprised her as he finished the roujiamo and cold noodles in just a few bites.
He pulled out three hundred yuan, placed it on the table, and said to Liuu Ruyan, "Yan’er, give me nine more sets. I want the ones made by your own hands. Auntie is getting on in years, you wouldn’t want her to overexert herself, right?"
Liuu Ruyan glared, thinking this guy spends money way too frivolously, doesn’t he?
Clearly at a loss, yet he doesn’t seem to care at all.
Mother Liuu had been watching for a long time, finally figuring it out.
These two young people seemed to be in a battle of wills, just like when her daughter’s father pursued her in her youth.
She sat down and chuckled, deciding not to intervene anymore.
She was quite pleased with this kid Long Fei; he had a sense of justice and was also polite.
A boy like that was hard to come by these days.
If her daughter really ended up with him, she wouldn’t object.
Liuu Ruyan was full of frustration; she had wanted to quote an outrageous price to drive the guy away.
Who would’ve thought this rascal would actually rise to the occasion?
She snatched the money and said angrily, "Eat if you want, it’s not my money you’re spending, after all."
