"Forget it, with Director Lin backing him up, he’s untouchable for us!"

Zhou Xiaoqi pulled Zhang Yue along to convince him, and they went into the fast-food restaurant, finding a corner to sit down in gloom.

On the way, Zhang Yue had already relayed Chu Feng’s response and Zheng Tuo’s attitude to Zhou Xiaoqi.

Taking a bite of her burger, Zhou Xiaoqi furrowed her brows and said, "A-Yue, they’re deliberately targeting you! Zheng Tuo cozying up to Chu Feng at this time must mean he’s planning to ditch you."

"Why though?"

Zhang Yue, with a look of defiance, took a sip of his cola and complained in a low voice, "In terms of education, in terms of work ability, where do I fall short compared to Chu Feng?"

Zhou Xiaoqi chided, "Idiot, Manager Zheng doesn’t care about any of that. Didn’t you understand what happened in the group chat today? Manager Zheng is the group admin; could that alt account have been added without his say-so?"

Zhang Yue fell silent for a moment, feeling aggrieved, "That old bastard, we’ve done so much for him over the years. Whenever he applies for employee training funds from the company, doesn’t he always apply for three or four times the amount? And hasn’t he made money off every company event? An ordinary mug that can be ordered online for a thousand bucks, he would quote ten thousand, and haven’t we helped him with that? Now, over such a trivial matter, he wants to kick someone to the curb. Does he have no conscience at all?"

Zhou Xiaoqi sighed, "The workplace is a battlefield; conscience isn’t worth a dime. The problem is you know too much, so at the slightest sign of trouble, he wants to sacrifice a pawn to save his castle."

Zhang Yue, looking worried, asked, "So what should we do now?"

Zhou Xiaoqi said, "It’s all or nothing now; might as well blow the whistle anonymously on everything we’ve done over the years. If we can take down Zheng Tuo, we might still have a chance."

After a moment of thought, Zhang Yue clenched his teeth, "Right, if he doesn’t want us to have it easy, we can’t let him off either. Worst comes to worst, both the fish and the net will be broken."

The two of them discussed their plan in detail and, while there was still time, headed back to the company together.

Zhou Xiaoqi went to the finance department to look for evidence. She had been cautious over the years, keeping all the original financial records of the misdeeds Zheng Tuo had committed.

Zhang Yue had evidence as well. Upon returning to his office, he had only started rummaging through his desk when he suddenly found a USB drive.

He frowned, plugged it into the computer, and curiously opened it to take a look.

The content inside took him by surprise.

The photos showed Zheng Tuo and Zhang Li in a heated encounter in a room, which got Zhang Yue’s blood boiling.

If this material were to leak, Zheng Tuo would be finished.

Zhang Yue felt a surge of excitement, thinking to himself that justice was finally being served.

He compiled all the shady dealings he’d done for Zheng Tuo over the years and put them all on this USB drive.

Not wanting to burn all his bridges, he sent a message to Zheng Tuo, asking, "Manager, I’d like to visit you tonight to talk about some work matters. Do you have time?"

Zheng Tuo declined straightaway, "For the next few days, better keep some distance from me. Let’s talk after your issue has been investigated."

He didn’t actually want to do anything to Zhang Yue; it was just a normal avoidance.

Plus, with Chu Feng there in the evening, it would be awkward for everyone if Zhang Yue showed up.

Zhang Yue, however, misunderstood and his heart sank. He pulled out the USB drive, cursing, "You’ve forced my hand!"

After Zhou Xiaoqi came downstairs, the two went to the courier company together.

Zhang Yue packaged up everything and sent it straight to the president’s office of the company.

Once outside, Zhou Xiaoqi asked, "What’s on that USB drive?"

Zhang Yue laughed proudly, "A bomb."

Zhou Xiaoqi furrowed her brows, unsure of what he meant.

Zhang Yue himself was more baffled than she was, not knowing who had given him that USB drive.

But none of that mattered. What was important was to bring down Zheng Tuo first.

In the monitoring room, Dong Laonian captured all of Zhang Yue and Zhou Xiaoqi’s actions on camera and sent them to Chu Feng, with a message, "Young master, they’ve made their move."

"Got it!"

Chu Feng replied, holding two boxes of supplements as he got out of the car, with Zheng Tuo’s villa right in front of him.

After he entered, Xu Huizhen, Zheng Tuo’s wife, made a gesture with her eyes at the door, signaling him not to blurt out anything about the divorce.

Chu Feng nodded and, entering further, called out to Zheng Tuo, "Godfather, guess what I brought for you?"

He went over, smiling as he placed the supplements on the coffee table, and introduced, "A box of Hundred-Year Ginseng, and a box of Plateau Cordyceps, these are both really nourishing stuff."

Zheng Tuo pointed at him and smiled at his wife, "Huizhen, look at this kid, he really knows what he’s doing!"

"Indeed, that’s why I like this child!"

Xu Huizhen smiled and invited Chu Feng to sit on the sofa, asking him to chat with her husband while she went back to the kitchen to continue cooking.

Chu Feng looked around curiously and asked Zheng Tuo, "Godfather, is Lili not at home?"

Zheng Tuo shook his head and said, "Don’t get me started on that daughter of mine; the moment she heard her cousin was back, she rushed off to her aunt’s house. Hasn’t been back home for two or three days now!"

"Her cousin?"

Chu Feng frowned.

Zheng Tuo explained, "It’s Director Lin’s son, Lin Jiahui. The kid went to study in America after high school and just came back a few days ago. He’s been all secretive, not even telling me, his uncle."

Chu Feng chuckled, knowing that this Director Lin was not Chairman Lin but the Lin Family’s Second in Command, Lin Guohao.

He had always been a director, minus the ’chairman’ title.

He probably had always felt uncomfortable about it, insisting that people call him Director Lin.

It was due to this connection that Zheng Tuo had been promoted to HR Manager.

Over the years, he did nothing but make money, with no actual achievements to speak of.

Chu Feng knew there must be many people wanting to get rid of him. This time, he probably couldn’t escape it.

He had dinner with Zheng Tuo and Xu Huizhen, and when it was time to leave, he hesitantly said to Zheng Tuo, "Godfather, there’s something I’m not sure whether I should tell you?"

Chu Feng said, "Godfather, I just heard from company security that Zhang Yue and Zhou Xiaoqi came back to the office not long after they left work. A feeling of unease rose in Zheng Tuo’s heart, and he checked the WeChat messages from Zhang Yue.

The message from Zhang Yue asking to meet seemed more like a final ultimatum.

"Could this kid be thinking of turning against me?"

He muttered to himself, recalling if he had any vulnerabilities that Zhang Yue could exploit, and at the same time he dialed one of his trusted staff in the office, instructing him to go to the company right away and to detain Zhang Yue the moment he showed up.

After hanging up the call, he alerted several department contacts within the company. He asked them to keep an eye out for any recent whistle-blower letters. If anything was related to him, he wanted help in burying it.

His heart settled somewhat after making the calls.

Just waiting for dawn, he planned to immediately fire Zhang Yue, this traitor.
