Chapter 1092: Chapter 1092: Unlucky Son

The next day, Long Fei got up early and slipped into the kitchen, ready to finish off the leftover fish soup from yesterday.

Damn it, so young and yet feeling somewhat weak.

He grumbled as he entered the kitchen, only to find Little Kirin, that stinky kid, hugging the bottom of the pot, licking nonstop.

When they saw each other, both were startled.

"You, what are you doing?"

Long Fei’s mind went dark; this was supposed to be his restorative meal, yet this little rascal had sneaked it.

Little Kirin licked his lips, grinned and said, "Dad, I was hungry, got up early to eat something."

"Kid, you’ll get ’heatiness’ from overeating, you know that?"

Long Fei snatched the pot from his hands, saw some fish scraps inside, scooped them out with his hand, and quickly ate them.

Little Kirin looked down on him, "Dad, why don’t you make another one? For the Great Sect Leader, isn’t it shameful to eat fish scraps?"

"Stinky kid, don’t you know the hardship behind each grain in your bowl?"

Long Fei lectured, thinking to himself that this kid must have benefited greatly from eating the fish last night, so he got up early to have some more.

Seeing the radiant glow on his face, Long Fei felt envious; youth really was bliss!

Lin Yingying came over, her eyes bleary and face radiant, satisfyingly yawning, "You two sure got up early."

Little Kirin raised his hand and called out to her, "Mom, isn’t it you who got up late? You used to get up at six, now it’s almost eight, I’m about to be late for school."

"Oh, how could I have forgotten that."

Lin Yingying slapped her forehead and hurriedly said to Long Fei, "You take him to school, I need to rush to work."

Long Fei put down the pot and said reluctantly, "Are you kidding me? The Great Sect Leader taking a little brat to school?"

Lin Yingying gave him a look, "What about the Great Sect Leader? Our Little Kirin is a Divine Beast."

"I’m a person, not a beast!"

Little Kirin pouted in correction.

"Sorry, mom said the wrong thing in haste."

Lin Yingying smiled and quickly corrected herself, pinching his cheek and pushing both him and Long Fei out the door.

Long Fei sat in the car, complaining, "Some forget their mothers when they get wives, but your mother forgets her husband when she has a son."

Little Kirin muttered, "I’m the pitiful one, mom used to hold me in sleep when I was little, but she sent me upstairs when I grew up."

Long Fei chuckled, "Who told you to mature so early, growing so much in a year?"

"You’re the one who matured early, I’m healthily growing strong okay?"

Little Kirin protested.

"Little rascal, dare to talk back to your dad!"

Long Fei turned around and knocked on his head, then started the car and drove towards the school.

He didn’t know which school the kid was in, and even called to ask Lin Yingying.

Little Kirin complained from the backseat, "Dad, you don’t trust me anymore, right? I told you, I’m at Binhai Elementary affiliate."

"Enrolling in elementary school at age one, you outdo your dad."

Long Fei had thought he was in kindergarten!

Turns out, such a little kid was already in elementary school.

Little Kirin sat with his arms crossed, feeling depressed. Before Long Fei returned, he would always hear Lin Yingying talk about how formidable and handsome his dad was, how intelligent he was.

Seems it’s true what they say, love is blind, all the praises were just mom’s own view.

This dad, not reliable at all.

The car pulled up to the elementary school gates, and Long Fei found a place to park, opened the car door and went to the back to lift Little Kirin out.

"Little Kirin complained loudly, "Gosh, let go of me, I can get down by myself!"

"Really?"

Long Fei let go, and Little Kirin ended up squatting on the ground with a plop.

He cried out in pain, "You’re bullying me, I’m going to tell Mom when I get home!"

Long Fei chuckled, "Look at you, I said not to let go, but you insisted, and now you’ve fallen, right?"

"I hate you!"

Little Kirin ground his teeth, feeling that Long Fei did it on purpose.

This dad really is petty, just for stealing a bowl of expired fish soup, and he still holds a grudge.

He took out his schoolbag, ready to leave.

From behind, a little girl called out sweetly, "Kirin!"

Little Kirin and Long Fei turned around to see a young lady in a black miniskirt riding an electric bike with a little girl.

This little girl was chubby and fair with big eyes and two twist braids; she looked as cute as a porcelain doll.

Seeing Long Fei, she stared wide-eyed, surprised and exclaimed, "Are you Uncle Long?"

Long Fei smiled and nodded, patting her head, "What, don’t remember your uncle after more than a year?"

Just last night, he found out that Little Kirin and Little Tiantian were at the same school, and here they were running into each other.

"How could I forget!"

Little Tiantian happily hugged him, realizing suddenly, "No wonder Brother Kirin’s last name is Long, turns out he’s your son."

Little Kirin stepped forward, holding Little Tiantian’s hand, whispering, "Tiantian, my dad’s not a good person, stay away from him."

Little Tiantian frowned and kept a distance from Long Fei.

Long Fei could naturally hear what Little Kirin said, he glared at him, thinking that this cheeky kid really deserved a beating.

He looked at Little Tiantian’s mother and greeted her, somewhat awkwardly, "Sister Yan, how have you been lately?"

Back then, the two of them had been quite close, and Long Fei always felt a bit embarrassed seeing her.

"Quite well!"

He Yan smiled and nodded, leading Little Tiantian with him to take the kids to school.

She looked at Long Fei and said, "Why don’t we find a place to sit for a while?"

"Sure!"

Long Fei looked around, chose a breakfast spot, and said, "I haven’t had breakfast yet, let’s go have some tofu pudding!"

He Yan smiled and followed him.

The eatery was small, with a few tables and chairs outside and plastic bags littering the ground in disarray.

Long Fei ordered a bowl of tofu pudding and got four deep-fried dough sticks.

He Yan just had a cup of milk tea, and looking at how Long Fei was wolfing down his food, she said with surprise, "I had thought people of your status wouldn’t eat this kind of stuff anymore!"

Long Fei laughed, "How could that be? No matter how one’s status changes, some things don’t change. I still remember when I was a kid, this was my favorite. During the slack farming seasons, I’d pester my grandpa to take me to the town to drink it. I had a big appetite back then, three bowls in one meal and I’d still want more."

He Yan covered her mouth and laughed, appearing younger and more confident than before.

Long Fei asked her, "After all this time, you haven’t found someone else?"

A hint of sadness flickered in He Yan’s eyes, but it was momentary, and she soon regained her composure, "No, it’s quite nice being on my own."

"Yeah, whatever way of living, as long as you’re happy, that’s what counts."

Long Fei nodded, talking to He Yan about work-related matters.

After the meal, they went their separate ways.

He Yan rode her electric bike a short distance, then stopped and turned back to watch Long Fei’s Audi drive away.

The wind blew through her black hair, making her squint her eyes, her eyes watering as she murmured to herself, "Take care, I will be happy."
