Chapter 706: Chapter 684:
Outside Elder Pang’s mansion, a black Red Flag car came to a stop.
A security guard hurriedly got out of the car and then opened the rear door, respectfully inviting the person in the car to step out. Today, Mr. Liu had decided to persuade Elder Pang to come out of his worldly withdrawal. Perhaps, this was a way to make amends for his own past mistakes. He was full of vim, hoping to present his best self to Elder Pang. After all, the two elders were classmates from the same year, having graduated from the Central Party School.
"Salute!" The two security guards at Elder Pang’s residence immediately snapped to attention and respectfully ushered Mr. Liu inside. To the security guards, the faces of the big shots from the Central were etched in their memories. A big shot’s face was the most effective pass, allowing them unimpeded access throughout Beijing City.
Mr. Liu nodded satisfactorily and then walked inside, as the security guard had already rushed in to report his arrival. Elder Pang was in the back garden tending to the flowerbeds. Hearing that Mr. Liu had arrived, he was taken aback and wondered, "What’s this old codger doing here?"
"General, shall we receive him?" The security guard hurriedly asked.
"Hmph, he’s already inside, is there still a question of receiving him or not!" Elder Pang snorted coldly, a sly glint flashed in his eyes, then he strode into the bedroom as if on wings, which startled the security guard; Elder Pang had always walked slowly, but today, upon hearing of the old general’s sprightly pace, even the guard felt a sense of admiration. Stunned, he watched Elder Pang’s retreating figure, remarking, "The older the ginger, the hotter the spice!"
Then, Elder Pang immediately dived under the bed covers, not even taking the time to remove his clothes.
Within two minutes, Mr. Liu strolled in, cleared his throat, and said, "Old Pang, I’ve come to see you!"
"Who’s there?" Elder Pang, lying on his side at the head of the bed, said leisurely, "I’m unwell today, so I can’t get up to greet you, sorry!"
"Uh..." Not only Mr. Liu, but even the security guard couldn’t help but be stunned, looking at Elder Pang lying at the head of the bed. Wasn’t he just fine a moment ago? How could he suddenly fall ill? The image of the elder’s vigorous walk was still echoing in the guard’s mind when suddenly, he understood: General Pang intended to show some childish petulance. No wonder there’s a saying that the older one gets, the smaller their heart becomes—he seemed to be shrinking with age.
After realizing this, the security guard immediately revealed a mischievous smile and quietly stood aside. Mr. Liu, a bit taken aback, said, "Old Pang, are you really sick? What’s the illness? That won’t do, you must see a doctor quickly. Otherwise, shall I call the doctor for you?"
"That’s enough, no need to fuss over me. Just speak your mind!" Elder Pang lay there, pretending to be weak, but his eyes were sparkling, much like the fiery gaze of Sun Wukong.
"This..." Mr. Liu chuckled and replied, "That won’t do; your health is important. If you’re not well, whatever we talk about is just hot air!"
"My health is none of your concern. I’m merely a retiree. Why do you care so much?" Elder Pang huffed lightly.
"Sigh, actually, I just came to talk to you about getting back to work. But since you’re ill, we can wait until you’re better!" Mr. Liu’s eyes twinkled slyly, and after speaking, he waved his hand, "Let’s go!"
After saying this, he turned to leave, but Elder Pang couldn’t stay in bed any longer. He jumped up from the head of the bed and barked, "Stop right there, where do you think you’re going?!"
"Uh... Weren’t you sick, old fellow?" Mr. Liu laughed heartily.
"Go on, I am sick, what of it? Does being sick mean I can’t get out of bed?" Elder Pang said, looking aggrieved.
"Ha ha, I’ve honestly never seen anyone sleep in their uniform, and manage to keep it impeccable upon getting up!" Mr. Liu immediately pointed out Elder Pang’s slip. Elder Pang’s face reddened, and he glared at Mr. Liu, snapping, "Dammit, what’s it to you? Just spit it out, what do you want, coaxing me back into the fray? Hmph, I doubt it’s going to be that easy. You got blindsided by the Fierce Tiger Gang in Hefei; you’re not thinking of getting me to step in and sort out your trouble, are you? Forget it!"
"Don’t, don’t make me out to be so unscrupulous!" Mr. Liu chuckled, "I’m just here to ask you to return to the scene and return everything that belongs to you!"
"Do you really mean that?" Elder Pang looked at him with a skepticism that he couldn’t conceal.
"Dammit, old man, you actually don’t believe me?" Mr. Liu glared at Elder Pang, indignant, "If you don’t believe me, I’ll leave right now!"
"All right, all right, I’ll take your word for it this time!" Elder Pang immediately hooked Mr. Liu’s shoulder, as if they were good brothers. Elder Pang laughed heartily, "Come on, I’ll take you out for a drink today, my treasured century-old cellar."
"Damn, you old codger, you’ve been hiding a century-old cellar?" Mr. Liu was stunned and immediately swung his fist hard into Elder Pang’s chest and raged, "So, if I hadn’t come to find you today to get you back to work, were you planning to just keep holding out?"
"Haha..." Elder Pang laughed heartily.
The two old men supported each other, seemingly reconciling. Although they both harbored their own ulterior motives, at the very least, their hearts were set on China’s development, for the sake of leaving a strong and prosperous homeland for future generations. For their country, they tolerated and united with each other. Despite the bits of grudge between them, they still chose harmony.
...
The Heavenly Reversal Gang’s development in the United States went unexpectedly smoothly. Ye Chen personally led the charge, cutting off the White Alliance’s limbs in Chinatown, and then, marching northward, they took down several local gangs. The Italian Mafia’s branch in New York became their biggest target. In order to conquer the Mafia once and for all, Ye Chen made several preparations. He bribed several small gangs in New York, allied with them, and promised benefits, quickly gaining their assistance.
On May 15th, the Heavenly Reversal Gang launched a full-scale attack on the Mafia.
With the covert support of the US Government, Ye Chen’s operations developed extraordinarily smoothly, clearing five levels and slaying six generals. Although the US Government did not provide direct help, some indirect assistance was still a great benefit. The Mafia was in a very passive situation.
"Damn it, what the hell does the Heavenly Reversal Gang want!" Noco was the head of the Mafia in the United States.
"Don’t tell me they’re targeting us deliberately?" his aide asked anxiously.
"Only God knows!" Noco sighed helplessly and said, "I say they’re definitely targeting us. We can’t continue to be immersed in this situation, we need to strike back, to keep striking back!"
"Yes!" The aide nodded and said, "That’s what I’m saying, we must contact the Church Court immediately for their opinion!"
"No, there’s no need to trouble the Church Court for such matters; we’ll take care of it ourselves!" Noco shook his head.
Seeing that Noco had made up his mind, the aide could only nod in agreement.
Soon, the Mafia organized several effective counterattacks. The continuous retaliation cost the Mafia dearly, but also inflicted heavy losses on the Heavenly Reversal Gang and some local gangs. That night, Noco gathered over a hundred men, all tall Caucasians and Africans, who had a tremendous physical advantage. The opposition was formidable, possessing strong physiques and stamina.
"Noco, we should just charge in and wipe them all out!" a muscular African-American gritted his teeth and said.
This time, Noco had obtained the temporary residence of the leader of the Heavenly Reversal Gang, so he decided to bring a group of people here for a sneak attack. Over a hundred men, all carefully selected by Noco, were the elite within the Mafia, having followed Noco through many battles over the years.
"No, don’t underestimate the opposition!" Noco shook his head and said, "It’s said that their boss, Ye Chen, defeated Jones in one fell swoop in Chinatown. You all know Jones, right? He’s one of the top-notch experts in the entire United States!"
"Hmph, that Jones guy just died so easily!" the aide snorted lightly.
"Stop talking about him. Although he had some skills, he was too showy. It’s no surprise he died!" Noco snorted.
"Noco, you tell us, what should we do?" A bunch of people gathered and started discussing fervently. Some wanted to rush in and strangle them, while others hoped to pick up the scraps later and claim the reward.
"Hmm, let me think!" Noco frowned lightly. The enemy was right in the mansion ahead. Once they launched the attack, there would be no turning back. However, Noco had no way out now. After a long contemplation, he decided to attack. He nodded and said, "Everyone, get ready!"
The crowd rose up in a rattle, each one with determined eyes looking at Noco. Noco was their leader, much like Ye Chen’s position in the Heavenly Reversal Gang. Noco was an Italian who, having made a mistake at Mafia headquarters, was decided to be exiled to the United States. Later on, Noco built his own dominion here with a band of loyal followers and soon was reused by the Mafia headquarters. Therefore, Noco once again became the head of the Mafia in the United States.
"Big brother, we’re all ready!" the crowd nodded one after another.
