Chapter 660: Chapter 641:

Elder Pang was very happy today, as having Ye Chen as his grandson was, at least in his view, a joyful matter. In Beijing, several major figures had no descendants, like Elder Pang and Zhang Bufen’s godfather. These influential figures had all fought in the Liberation War and been to the Korean War fronts, so inevitably, their health had suffered during the wars, resulting in them having no children in their lifetimes.

Having a grandson in his old age, Elder Pang was elated. The two hugged and made their way to the dining room, then raised their glasses to drink. After three rounds of drinks, both were a bit tipsy. Elder Pang took a deep breath and asked, "Kid, what do you plan to do about your parents’ revenge?"

"Take revenge on the Church Court!" Ye Chen, holding his cup, said, "This enmity must not be forgotten; the Church Court is an enemy I absolutely despise."

"The Church Court has immense power now, dealing with them won’t be so simple!" Elder Pang consoled him and after a moment of thought, he suggested, "I advise you to take a trip to the UK and get the Prime Minister to join the anti-Church Court organization."

"That’s an idea, but the key is whether they’ll be willing!" Ye Chen said helplessly.

"Don’t worry, he definitely will!" Elder Pang grinned and said, "The UK is currently entangled with issues from the Church Court. Don’t be fooled by the UK’s apparent escape from their control. In reality, many aspects have not freed from them. Their Queen’s coronation and even the Prime Minister’s inauguration must be officiated by someone from the Church Court. Isn’t this an insult to their monarchy and their Prime Minister?"

"That’s true!" Ye Chen nodded, considered the proposal briefly, and while nodding said, "Tomorrow I plan to set off for the Middle East, and while there, make a trip to the UK, hoping to successfully persuade Blair!"

"Good, this drink is to pre-celebrate your success!" Elder Pang raised his glass.

The two continued drinking, finishing two bottles of baijiu, one jin per bottle, both nearly drunk to stupor. Elder Pang was incredibly spirited, swearing to compete in drinking with Ye Chen to the end. But Ye Chen was not weak either. The two progressed from half a jin to a jin, and in the end, Elder Pang simply lay down, still babbling in his drunken state, "Ye Chen, my good grandson, I want to compete with you till the end, not stopping until we’re drunk!"

Ye Chen looked at this man over eighty years old, his frame still incredibly robust. After consuming a jin of baijiu, Ye Chen felt a bit dizzy, washed his face with cold water, and felt much more comfortable, also becoming quite sober. He left Elder Pang’s courtyard, wandered around, and found the vast Beijing City still rather chilly at night. Ye Chen raised his collar and strolled outside.

At this moment, the night was not too dark yet—it was around seven or eight o’clock, just when Beijing people started their nightlife. Street vendors began to shout their wares. Along the streets, many local Beijing artists pinched clay figurines, selling authentic Beijing candied hawthorns and cotton candy.

As Ye Chen emerged from the alley, he noticed two familiar figures ahead. They both wore DSLR cameras around their necks, the long lenses slightly incongruous. They each held a long stick of candied hawthorn in their hands, eating as they walked.

"Wei Zhen, Duoduo!" Ye Chen immediately called out.

"Hmm?" The two turned in surprise, then seeing Ye Chen, they both exclaimed, "Ye!"

"Ha ha, you two little gluttons!" Ye Chen laughed heartily.

"Ye, it’s rare for us to eat Beijing candied hawthorns, and you caught us red-handed!" The two were somewhat embarrassed and hid their candied hawthorns behind their backs. Ye Chen said with a smile, "By the way, what are you doing here so late? Shouldn’t you be heading back?"

"We... we came to take some photos, preparing for our thesis!" The two revealed a smile.

"I see..." Ye Chen smiled, asking, "Have you eaten yet?"

"Not yet..." Duoduo looked innocently at Ye Chen, saying, "We planned to just eat a stick of candied hawthorn and continue working!"

"That won’t do; come on, I’ll treat you to dinner!" Ye Chen immediately led the two to a restaurant, and ordered a table full of dishes, causing the two young women to drool. They exchanged glances, then unabashedly started their meal.

Watching them eat, Ye Chen grew puzzled, "Haven’t you eaten for several days?"

"Brother Chen, you don’t know, our house was cleaned out by thieves, so we haven’t had any food for several days!" Duoduo said helplessly to Ye Chen.

"Duoduo, stop talking!" Wei Zhen felt a bit guilty on the side.

"Why is this happening?" Ye Chen was taken aback. It turned out the two girls weren’t trying to lose weight; instead, their house had been burgled. Ye Chen quickly asked, "Did you report it to the police?"

"We did, but the police didn’t care," Duoduo wiped her tears and said, "The team leader who died on Chang’an Street last time seemed to have some connections with them, so this time they didn’t even file our case, let alone solve it!"

"So... how have you been getting by these days?" Ye Chen asked with a heart full of sympathy.

"We’ve been selling lenses!" Duoduo, with tears of grievance streaming down her face, said, "Sister Wei Zhen has already sold two lenses; she couldn’t bear to let me sell mine!"

Ye Chen felt as though a knife was twisting in his heart. The two girls were studying photography, and they worked hard to buy better equipment. To them, lenses were their lifeblood—they would rather starve than sell their lenses. Yet now, they had been reduced to selling them. He took a deep breath and said, "Sigh, if you hadn’t met me, would you have just kept selling your lenses?"

"Actually, we have no lenses left to sell!" Duoduo, looking pitifully at Ye Chen, said, "Now, Sister Wei Zhen and I are sharing a lens. If we sell these too, we might as well not bother writing our thesis!"

"Alright, let’s eat quickly, and afterward, I’ll go buy some for you!" Ye Chen waved his hand.

Duoduo and Wei Zhen exchanged glances and then immediately buried their heads in their food, quickly cleaning off the entire table. Ye Chen paid the bill and took the two girls away. It seemed to them that they had found someone to rely on. He took them to a special store and bought back those lenses for them. It’s true what they say about photography being costly; one lens cost over five thousand.

But when Wei Zhen sold those lenses, she only got a little over two thousand—second-hand just isn’t the same as new.

"Brother Ye, thank you!" Wei Zhen, holding two lenses, couldn’t help but tear up happily.

"Silly girl, why thank me!" Ye Chen wiped the tears from her cheeks and said, "You should have come to me if you were in trouble!"

"But we didn’t have your contact information!" Wei Zhen said, looking at Ye Chen with wide eyes.

"Then I’ll give it to you!" Ye Chen smiled.

After leaving his contact information, Ye Chen decided to say goodbye. Although the two girls invited him to stay at their place multiple times, Ye Chen declined. He understood that once he went there, he might not be able to avoid becoming intimate with the two girls again. He didn’t want to betray Li Ruo again; anything that displeased Li Ruo made him feel guilt-ridden.

When leaving, Ye Chen gave the two girls ten thousand yuan. Perhaps it was out of guilt, or perhaps it was compensation for their previous intimacy. In any case, they had fallen into hard times, and he felt he should support them as much as he could.

After bidding farewell, Ye Chen returned to Elder Pang’s place. He stayed a night at Elder Pang’s residence. The next morning, before Elder Pang woke up, Ye Chen decided to take his leave and then caught a flight to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia, midday sun was still very hot. It was April now, and the brightness was intense. The daytime temperatures were very high, but at night, it turned quite chilly. The temperature difference between day and night was substantial.

"Brother Chen!" Xiao Bai and Jiang Wei came to pick him up in a Hummer, with a group of people. These guys were living it up in the Arabian Gulf. The Heavenly Reversal Gang had established a formidable reputation in the Middle East, and their numbers had been exponentially increasing. Not only had their numbers increased, but their weapons and equipment had as well. In Saudi Arabia, if you have money, there’s nothing you can’t buy, like advanced weapons and American Hummers...

"Good job, using Hummers now?" Ye Chen looked at these guys, each wearing sunglasses, their skin tanned.

"Hehe, Brother Chen, we’re living quite comfortably here!" Xiao Bai and his group grinned widely.

"Stinkers, it’s good you’re living comfortably, but think about others. Tie Niu and his team are having a tough time in Myanmar!" Ye Chen glared at the group, then added, "Don’t just look after yourselves; take care of your brothers too!"

"Brother Chen, don’t worry. I’ve already sent a batch of supplies over to Tie Niu’s side and even sent them over ten million US dollars!" Xiao Bai laughed heartily.

Ye Chen jumped into the Hummer, and the vehicle sped off, charging into the desert and then crossing a vast expanse of it into Jubail District. The headquarters of the Heavenly Reversal Gang in the Middle East was established here, right by the Persian Gulf, which held a broad expanse of sea and an essential international channel. Most of the world’s oil was exported from here, making this route a lucrative spot for Xiao Bai and Jiang Wei.

Of course, sometimes they would traverse Saudi Arabia and then head to the West Coast to ’hunt.’ The West Coast of Saudi Arabia is the Red Sea, and there lies another internationally crucial route: the Suez Canal. The geographic significance of this location was immense, hence for Xiao Bai and his group, ’hunting’ here allowed them to reap greater profits. These guys had thoroughly embraced their reputation as pirates.
