The Beautiful Boss's Personal Bodyguard -
Chapter 179
Chapter 179: Chapter 179
Ye Tian entered the house with a silly chuckle, casually locking the door behind him.
Xu Qingyang curled his lip, thinking it was just the same old routine of taking off trousers before climbing into the kang bed—nothing he hadn’t seen before.
The furniture in the room was gradually increasing: an antique writing desk, an old-fashioned study, and tall bookshelves that were still empty. Ye Tian knew that Tang Su would eventually fill them with many thick volumes of books.
The white sofa was very comfortable, with no logos on it—probably picked up by Tang Su from some small stall. Thinking of this made Ye Tian feel a bit sour in his heart, but his face still bore a bright smile.
"Let’s have some tea."
Tang Su, emerging from the kitchen with two cups of tea, handed one to Ye Tian and held the other herself.
"Thank you."
Tang Su lifted her head slightly, "You’re welcome."
Happiness immediately filled the entire room.
After a long while, with both people remaining silent, Tang Su eventually couldn’t help asking, "Are you eating at home for lunch?"
Home? Of course! Ye Tian figured he must eat here so Tang Su would feel comfortable using the word ’home’.
"I should be eating here."
"That’s good then. The vegetables in the backyard need to be pulled out; we picked the last batch just yesterday—they’re still fresh. Let’s have a vegetarian meal today."
"Vegetarian is good, not greasy, and it helps with weight loss too."
Standing up, Tang Su headed toward the kitchen, saying, "Call your friend over. You guys sit and rest for a bit, I’ll get the food ready."
"Alright!"
Ye Tian stepped out the door, but instead crouched down right on the small step in front, drawing out a Red Mountain Tea cigarette and putting it in his mouth, not lighting it since Tang Su didn’t like the smell of smoke, he decided not to smoke.
He ultimately still didn’t say "You’ve worked hard," nor did he show much pity or self-reproach. All these emotions, he believed, were understood by Tang Su. He also knew that although living here alone wasn’t exactly tough, it certainly was mundane. Even though he insisted on coming over whenever he had time, time was such a mischievous thing; always present, yet never seemed enough for oneself.
Zhang Houtu told Ye Tian that normally, he would come down from the mountain to help Tang Su tidy up the vegetable garden or move some bulkier furniture. He said, watching Tang Su haggle with sellers at the second-hand market made him almost trust his eyes were deceiving him, wondering if this was really the lady of the Tang Family from Tianhe City. The once District Committee Secretary’s precious daughter, the aloof and dignified bar manager, now spent most of her days purchasing vegetables from the market or planting vegetable seeds, occasionally wielding a hoe or shovel to loosen the soil, just so her Ye Tian could eat some vegetables grown by his wife’s own hands when he returned.
You strong-willed wife, can’t you treat yourself a little better?
This house was paid for with Tang Su’s money, the last remaining half-million, plus some miscellaneous expenses afterwards, which left almost nothing. Even the furniture in the house was bargained for at the second-hand market. Initially, Ye Tian didn’t know this; it was later that Zhang Houtu told him about it, half-jokingly and half-threateningly saying, if he ever wronged her, he would personally have Old Mr. Liu break his legs. Liu Zhongshi also chimed in irrelevantly, saying he would also break Ye Tian’s legs if he wronged his daughter-in-law.
Guilt, it was truly only guilt that he felt.
Touching the corners of his eyes, thankfully, there were no tears. Standing up and dusting the dirt off his rear, he walked towards Xu Qingyang.
Xu Qingyang gave Ye Tian the middle finger, the killing aura on his face gone, now replaced by full disdain.
Ye Tian kicked at him but was dodged with a quick roll from Xu Qingyang, "What did I ever do to you?"
Xu Qingyang swung his middle finger from side to side, "From entering the room to leaving the door, it only totaled ten minutes; who knew you were such a quick shooter."
Damn, waiting around for me, huh.
"Scram, your sister-in-law is calling you to eat."
Although he nonchalantly turned his head away, Ye Tian still took a quick glance at Xu Qingyang with the corner of his eye. Such a guy, with a killer instinct and a capricious temper, wouldn’t change unless under a lasting influence.
Fortunately, he’s not angry.
Unexpectedly, Xu Qingyang didn’t get angry after hearing Ye Tian’s "scram." His face didn’t show any abnormality as he followed Ye Tian over.
Ye Tian heaved a sigh of relief in his heart, take it slow, changing a person isn’t that easy.
When they reached the doorstep, Ye Tian’s phone rang. Looking down, it was from Pig Hu. This guy who had been gone for half a month seemed to have some news.
"Hello, Ye Tian, I found the person you wanted, but only one for now. Make do with him; I’ll keep looking for more people for you. But let me tell you, this guy is tough enough to take on a hundred, but he’s not easy to handle, so be careful."
"Hehe, anyone who comes is a brother of mine."
"Alright, enough talk, we’re going through security. Come pick us up at the airport in two hours."
After hanging up, Ye Tian felt a mix of joy and sorrow—joyful that he had someone to rely on, but sorrowful that he might miss dinner.
After entering the house, Ye Tian found it difficult to voice what he wanted to say. In the end, it was Tang Su who spoke, "Go ahead with your business first."
"It’s nothing, just picking up a friend."
"When will you be back?"
Ye Tian forced a smile, "Probably in two hours."
"Don’t worry, when you come back, I’ll warm the food up for you guys."
What else can you say at this point?
Ye Tian nodded, stood up, "Then you eat first, don’t wait for me."
Tang Su smiled and nodded, signaling him not to worry.
After the two left, the room fell silent again. Tang Su sat on the sofa, picking up a gray sweater from under the cushion and carefully crocheting, stitch by stitch.
Everyone knows Nanjing, but few know of the Jiangsu Province that fostered the dazzling, powder-rich Imperial Capital.
Jiangsu is replete with water towns, and though not as famous as Wuzhen, it’s sufficient for those literary figures who prefer quietude. To embody the qualities of water at its best, inheriting its true essence, is to navigate the world with ease. Even if one doesn’t achieve the status of strategists like Su Qin or Zhang Yi, they can still tread through life with ease. Regrettably, there are always those who fail to learn these social graces. It’s not just about Jiangnan’s waterside towns; even if you steep them in water, you can’t wash away their sharp edges.
Blacksmith shops, a rare sight in this era that worships efficiency, are still preserved in a small town called Miao Li Town.
Dressed in a Zhongshan suit, Li Jing sat calmly in the smithy, with a wooden table and chairs, on which sat a teapot and four tea cups, but he was the only one there. The blacksmith, who was beside him swinging his hammer, was bare-chested. Each blow of the hammer showcased his muscular build, and the beads of sweat dripping from his forehead bore testament to a masculine beauty at its finest.
