Like Catherine already knew he would doubt her intentions, she didn’t react and quietly kept the bottle on the table. She was very picky about the location where they’d meet since she wouldn’t want people from her class recognizing her in a place like this, and luckily enough she found one hidden enough to cover her perfect reputation.

It took a few stalking and receiving information from the servants to know Jeremy was surprisingly lusting after Cassian’s wife. Jeremy always had a special taste for women in his class, so it was just surprising to find out that he had eyes for the invincible Baroness.

She took notice of how he ogled the woman during the celebration at their place, and she noticed the jealousy in his eyes when Cassian danced with Madeline in the ballroom, yet his feelings of obsession were slightly covered over the dislike he had for the woman. After gathering all this information, Catherine didn’t think anyone else would be more suitable to do the dirty work if not the young Lord Jeremy himself.

"Let’s be honest with ourselves, we both want something out of this" Catherine asserted in a sweet tone before recalling all the horrible things Cassian had said to her that night, and just thinking about it was making her blood boil over again. "You knew I was meant to be Cassian’s wife, he was meant to marry me, but that filthy little wretch snatched him from me."

Dismissing the hatred from her eyes, she looked at Jeremy with a more appealing expression. "You want her, don’t you?" A knowing smile crossed her lips when he didn’t give her a response. "You can have her all to yourself after you make her inhale this." She pushed the bottle closer to him.

"It is harmless and she won’t be hurt, its effect is to paralyze her for at least one hour or more, depending on how potent it is when she inhales it." She explained the use of the content in the bottle, and Jeremy’s cognitive stare lingered on her face.

"And what do you want me to do after?"

"You can have her all to yourself, do whatever it is you want with her, but in return you must make sure Cassian sees you both unclothed." Her deceptive tone surprised Jeremy, but listening to her interesting offers and condition, he had no problem with it.

"That sounds fair."

"It’s a well-balanced win for the both of us, I want you to make sure Cassian sees his wife as a slut, a gold digger, whatever names you can think of, I need you to bring shame to the woman who snatched him from me, and your reputation will still be intact, you are a man after all. In our society, women tend to carry the blame, so you have nothing to worry about."

"And Cassian?"

"He’ll be devastated to see his wife in bed with his....step brother of course, but I will be there to offer him the.... comfort he needs." Catherine could almost imagine Cassian kicking that silly woman out of the mansion once their plan turns out to be a success, and then he’ll come running to her, aware of the mistake he made by choosing a leech for a wife.

Jeremy’s attention returned to the bottle, and he picked it up. "Are you sure it causes no harm? I don’t intend to murder anyone."

"None at all." She assured him, "just apply a few drops to a handkerchief and the rest is yours to finish."

"Not bad."

"So, are you in?"

"Why not?" The two of them shook hands to seal their agreement. Catherine’s smile broadened, and she quickly called someone to get them some drinks.

Lily silently listened to their evil plots, and her eyes fixed themselves on the bottle filled with what she smelled to be of great danger to her master’s wife.

Back in the Albrecht’s mansion, Madeline stepped into the bathroom in her room to wash the dirt off her feet. She wondered if Cassian was done tutoring Oliver, unsure of if she could go check or not, as she wouldn’t want to intrude with her presence and distract them.

Releasing a sigh, she strode to the window that gave off the twilight vibe, staring at the serene atmosphere that made the quarters look peaceful. So much already happened in just one day and Madeline still had a hard time processing everything, most especially the part where she encountered a ghost, or a creature, or whatever it must have been.

Her shoulders slumped as though they got tired of carrying the burden, and that’s when she felt unexpected hands on her waist that pulled her against the sturdy chest of someone. Snapped to reality by the sudden touch, she turned around to see who would dare to touch her when someone’s lips came crashing down on hers without warning, and her eyes widened.

"Mhmmn..!!" A soft cry of whimper escaped her entrapped mouth, and a familiar warmth coursed through her body when a scheming fellow had her back connected to the window and kissing the daylights out of her.

When he even showed up here, she barely knew, and everything happened too fast that his domineering kisses started to ignite a raw need inside of her.

Madeline instinctively grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, gently pushing him away and breaking the kiss that had stolen most of her breath. Their breathing was ragged and when she looked into those Amber-brown eyes, they looked dark and hungry.

"You...you can’t step into the bathroom whenever you feel like it, what if I was in the middle of changing?" Madeline didn’t dare to let go of him, knowing fully well that he could kiss her again if she did.

"Then I shall appreciate the sight of my wife before me." He leaned in to continue the kiss that he craved for, but Madeline didn’t give him that chance as her eyes narrowed into a glaring slit.

"This wasn’t part of the agreement, we have to follow the rules." She reminded him, wondering if he had forgotten, and her heart skyrocketed the minute he flashed her one of those charming smiles of his.

"But I am, anytime, anyplace."

"That was..."

And he sealed her lips with his, silencing the woman who had a lot to say.
