Chapter 78: Visiting Fancy Leaf Inn (1)

Stopping the carriage in front of a little inn in the upper west quarters, Orson and Cassian stepped down from the carriage with Orson trying to picture the little sketchy house that was drawn on the paper, and it looked exactly like the inn Amade had successfully brought them to.

The inn was right before the upper west town square, and it was less crowded today since it was the weekend. The inn looked moderate enough to accommodate at least fifty people based on Orson’s calculation, and he squinted his eyes as he tried to read the little map once again.

"Did you read it correctly this time?" Cassian asked the moment Orson revealed they had stopped in front of an inn, and his unnecessary questions were starting to frustrate Orson who glared his way. "If you don’t believe me then take the note and read the map yourself! Ungrateful being!"

He already went through the trouble of reading the tiny images on the note, and he knew how difficult it was for him to crack his brain just so they could locate this place, and still not even a simple thank you did he receive from the complaining Lucifer.

Amade on the other hand, had grown tired of listening to the two of them argue like cats and dogs all the way here. Sometimes it was difficult to tell if they were friends or foe due to how many times they argued in just a day.

As long as they worked together, an argument is bound to take place between the two of them.

"Keep the note with you." Cassian turned away from the raging Orson who seemed to have angry birds flying atop his head. "And lead the way, will you? Or do you need help from a blind man in telling you to do the needful?" He uttered once more as though he was asking if Orson was waiting for a command before he knew they were meant to enter the inn.

"Sigh... I’m breaking our friendship after this." Uttered Orson as he walked ahead, and Cassian held back a snicker as he followed behind. There was a time when Orson hated him for this, but look at them now.

Opening the door and stepping into the Inn, Orson took note of the long narrow passage that led to an open space. He could hear the soothing sound of an orchestra being played somewhere, and the inside appeared dim with blue candle lanterns hanging on each side of the wall.

By his right, a young lady with her hair tied in a bun, dressed in rather sexy provocative clothes walked up to him with a bright smile painting her red lips, and she bowed her head at them as a sign of greeting.

"Welcome to fancy leaf Inn, what may I offer you two handsome gentlemen?" The lady questioned with a beguiling voice as she switched glances from Cassian to Orson, waiting for their response.

"Listen, we..." Cassian was about to go straight to the point, only to be stopped by Orson who interjected unpromptedly.

"Let me handle this my own way, stay back." Uttered Orson who wanted to be the one to speak with the pretty lady.

Cassian was dying to roll his eyes right now, but nevertheless, he gave Orson the chance by stepping back in retreat.

Using his appealing charms, Orson leaned forward to whisper into the lady’s ear in a sensuous tone. "Hopefully you wouldn’t mind being of help to me and my friend here." With no one looking, he brought out his badge from his pocket and showed it to the lady. "I’m from the authorities, and the young man behind me is the victim I’m helping."

Orson was more than ready to exact his revenge by making Cassian a center of pity.

"We’re looking for someone, mind helping us scout this person quickly?" He pulled back to look the lady in the eyes, and from her dallying expression, he could tell his charms had work seeing her eyes eat at him.

No doubt, the two men who suddenly showed up at the inn today were one of the most good-looking guys she has run into while working here. The second one was more hella-attractive, despite his eyes being covered with a blindfold for reasons she didn’t care about, and working with them sounded like a good choice to her.

"Who are we looking for here?" She asked as she turned away from them and went to stand at the counter.

Orson’s eyes followed the pretty lady as her hips swayed with her movements, and he couldn’t help but whisper to Cassian.

"You are so missing out."

"I hate working with you." Came Cassian’s retort as his brows knitted into a frown.

Ignoring Cassian, Orson moved forward to stand at the front of the counter.

"He goes by the name Geoffrey, he checked-in overnight and should still be around, mind giving us the number of the room he’s in?"

"Is he expecting anyone?" Questioned the lady who was still curious about why such handsome men would only come here to see someone when they could just relax the day here.

"You see that guy?" Orson pointed at Cassian who was waiting for him before whispering to the lady. "The man we’ve come to see is his lost uncle, so we wanted to surprise him and didn’t tell him we would be coming over." He made a sad face. "Reuniting him with his lost uncle is my goal and I would really like it if you could be part of this reunion."

The lady attentively listened to the story Orson formulated for her, and she got emotional after listening to what he had to say. "I didn’t know, he looked exactly like someone I’ve seen from the upper East quarters, the Duke’s son perhaps." She inquired, and Orson shook his head in denial.

"The Duke’s son isn’t a blind man." Orson corrected, and the lady didn’t hesitate to believe him. "Now, will you take us to his uncle or will you not let us meet him?"

"Just a second." The lady quickly brought out the registration book and searched for Geoffrey’s room number. "Seen it."

She smiled. "I’ll take you there."

"Not a problem, thank you for helping us with this." Orson said before retreating back to meet Cassian. "All settled."

"Took you long enough."

"This way." The lady led them up the stairs without passing through the open area, and as she continued to climb forward, Cassian suddenly grabbed Orson by the collar of his shirt and whispered threateningly.

"You are going to explain to me how on Earth I look like Geoffrey’s lost cousin."

Orson’s eyes widened as he was not expecting Cassian to have heard the conversation. How could he? He was standing a good distance away from them??

Clearing his throat, he said, "If you look at it properly, I did it for both of us." He freed his collar from Cassian’s grip when he sensed the lady was about to turn around and look at them, and they kept walking to avoid raising suspicions.

Reaching the room to their left, the lady knocked on the door, and no sooner Geoffrey opened the door to see who had come to bother him.

"Yes, how can I_" he paused after sighting Cassian and the other guy he remembers standing behind the clerk lady.

"Good to finally meet you again, uncle." A devilish smirk graced Cassian’s lips, and Geoffrey instantly felt he had just been visited by the Devil’s replica.
