Chapter 52: The Bladesmith Location (1)

The evening sun casted a long deep shadow down the cemented ground that became a walkway to exiting a very stylish building. The slanting rays of the setting sun give a warm orange tinge to the sky above, and it all focuses on a tall symmetrical building that was meticulously built with red pine wood and has white stone decorations adding to its luxuriousness.

Inna and Cassian exited the building with a few other sophisticated guests following behind. Golden colored lights shimmered from the long thin windows, including the door which had been open to grant the guests a free passage to leave the stylishly built building.

Quiet chattering could be heard as the people waved one another goodbye for the day, and Inna smiled at those who embraced and congratulated her for winning one of the famous dance etiquettes that they all came to watch. From the look on everyone’s faces, they enjoyed coming to the great Hall to watch the performance that had been carried out, everyone except for Cassian who’s expression remained impassive and slightly bored.

He looked like someone who had been forced to be here.

When the people no longer gave them an eye and hurried to get into the carriages that brought them over, Inna used the little distraction they got to quickly pull her brother to the back of the building, finally escaping from the uncomfortable gazes of the guests.

Cassian, who was starting to think about how he had to get Inna those shoes since she ended up winning the test, didn’t expect his sister to unceremoniously drag him to the back of the building where they had stepped out from.

"Hey!" Cassian resisted his sister’s pull, wondering what that was all about, and Inna finally let go of his arm when they were now alone. She surveyed the area one more time to make sure no one was coming in their direction before looking at her brother.

"Remember the deal we made, you promised to let me help you if I end up locating the bladesmith right?" She whispered to her brother who was still lost on what his sister was trying to pinpoint.

"I won’t give an answer until you explain what this is all about." He whispered back.

"Here." Inna brought out a little brown note she had folded and safely tucked at the belt of her dress. She handed it to Cassian who didn’t move a muscle to receive it. He just stared at the note with a skeptical gaze before lifting his eyes to look at his sister.

"And what’s that?"

"Details about the bladesmith you’re looking for." She urged him to take the little note before someone comes and sees them here.

"What details are you talking about?" Cassian’s pretty brows furrowed suspiciously as he finally reached out to take the note from her grip.

"I found the bladesmith." She said to him with her head held high, "Strangely, there was only one bladesmith who was capable of forging the twin blades Orson drew. I got information from a very reliable source and only one of those sources was able to open up about this retired bladesmith that lives in the lower East quarters."

"Lower East quarters?"

She nodded firmly. "What I just gave you is the location of his home, and a few other necessary information that was written down on it. This bladesmith might just be the one who’ll be able to tell us the name of the person he made those swords for, and why?"

After listening to what Inna had to say, Cassian opened the little note to read the content jotted down on it, and he looked at his sister, almost in denial that she was able to do this in just one day. "How did you...?"

"I have my ways," she answered bluntly. "See? I can be useful. Now you have to let me help you as per the deal we made."

"But you just did." The corner of his mouth lifted as he kept the little note in the pocket of his waistcoat. "Tonight, I’ll pay a visit to this... Mr Geoffrey, see what information he has to offer regarding the twin blade."

"Wait, why tonight?" Inna questioned her brother, silently pondering on if he had forgotten about the twelve o’clock rule already.

"Look, Orson hasn’t given up on finding more clues in Roland’s dead house. He still thinks there are hidden clues there and he decides to trust his instincts, my instincts tell me to go tonight, and that I must do."

"But you can’t step out after twelve." Inna reminded him.

"I won’t be caught." He assured her. "There’s already two cases going on and I’ve been avoiding the authorities as best as I can. One tiny mistake on my part, and Klaus won’t hesitate to seize the opportunity of stripping me of my post."

"Klaus?" Inna suddenly remembered who her brother was referring to. "Wow, has the hatred really deepened, you two used to be such good friends."

"He broke the friendship when he couldn’t rid his jealousy. If I don’t show any improvement towards both cases, that mutt will try to bring me down once he gets the slightest chance."

It was already enough trouble that he ran into that pig earlier today. If he doesn’t meet him for a drink one of these days, he might just open his silly mouth to spew rubbish at the authorities, and worse, the king as well.

"So you really do not see yourself becoming the next Duke." Inna finalized due to how seriously he was taking his job.

"It’s not about seeing myself not becoming the Duke. Duke or not, I’ve always had a thing for being a man who can depend on himself, not others." He tapped his sister’s cheeks lightly. "Come on, let’s go get you those shoes so I can get prepared to leave."

"Mother didn’t come today." Inna said out of worry, and Cassian shrugged to it. "You know how Grandmother gets with mother when she visits, she always comes up with the craziest excuses to keep mother at her side."

"But grandmother would have attended as well if that’s the case." Inna let out a concerned sigh. "I’m hoping everything is fine with the two of them."

"I’m certain of it." Cas assured his sister who finally smiled in relief.

From a corner, a boy who appeared to be of Inna’s age casually strolled by, and he waved his hand at Inna who returned his friendly waves with a smile.

"Don’t tell me you’ve started keeping secret boyfriends." Cassian looked at his sister with narrowed eyes, and Inna rolled her eyes at his silly question.

"Why would I need a boyfriend? I am nothing like you." She huffed and walked out on Cassian to go meet Amade who was waiting to congratulate her for passing the test.

Meanwhile, the young lad was seriously pondering over his sister’s statemente. "Hey, what do you mean you’re nothing like me, Inna!" Cassian went after her.
