Chapter 40: Trapped In The Kitchen (2)

Without giving the aftermath of her actions a second thought, Madeline’s hand reached for the fork on the counter, and to Jeremy’s unexpected alarm, she quickly stabbed his hand with the sharp mouths of the fork, forcing his hold on her to instantly drop, and Madeline swirled out of his grip, pointing the fork frantically at his face.

"You..!!.." he winced when the pain on his wrist abruptly stung him straight up to his shoulder. To say he was shocked by her retaliation was clearly an understatement. She really stabbed him with a fork without thinking about what he might do to her in return.

Looking at his wrist, the mouth of the fork had left four red signs of the stab it had inflicted on his skin, and he tilted his head back up, glaring at her for daring to do this in the first place.

"Stay f..far away from me." Madeline warned with a shaky voice, still pointing the fork at him. "Only my husband has the right to touch me, you have no right to lay your filthy hands on me. If you try to come near me, I swear I’ll... I’ll..." quickly scanning his body with her gaze, she pointed the fork at his lower member. "I’ll stab you right there, I’m not joking."

"You’re insane!" Jeremy instantly took a step back when she threatened to stab his manhood. From the seriousness in her gaze, something told him that she will stab him right there if he intends to come near her and exact his revenge on her. No wonder Cassian chose to marry someone like her, it was more than obvious that they shared the same insanity.

"I did suspect something was off when you left the dinner table." Came a blunt voice that interrupted Madeline’s moment. When they turned their heads to look at the direction the voice was coming from, Cassian was standing at the entrance of the kitchen, observing the scene with a mocking gaze that was solely fixed on Jeremy.

"Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Going after another man’s wife I see. Well, I’m not completely surprised because the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Am I right, Jerry?" He clicked his tongue, and Jeremy’s hands balled in anger when he realized Cassian was indirectly referring to his mother.

The bastard!

Turning his attention to Madeline who was still holding the fork in her grasp, she quickly tried to explain the situation to Cassian before he misunderstood the whole thing, but to her unexpected surprise, he walked up to where she stood, giving her a gentle pat on the head like someone who had done something commendable.

"Good job." He complimented with that charming smile that instantly eased her worries. "Although I hate to see your pretty hands get dirty, If someone tries to come at you again, don’t hesitate to stab them right at the spot for being disrespectful just cause you’re a woman. Use your power as my wife, and nothing will happen." He encouraged before taking the fork from her grip and dropping it back on the counter.

"Have you taken your medications yet?" He asked, and she shook her head. "There was no water left in the jug upstairs, so I came down to fill the jug with some water, and that’s when he came in, and tried to have his way with me." She pointed accusingly at Jeremy, reporting him to her husband who took notes of her words.

"Go and take your medication, he won’t bother you from now on." He assured her. "And get dressed too, we’re visiting the Marquees today and I want you to come with me."

Madeline’s eyes brightened at the news. "I will." And she exited the kitchen with her jug of water, leaving Cassian and Jeremy alone. When she was no longer at sight, Cassian’s gaze darkened after having to witness what Jeremy tried doing to his wife, and Jeremy would be foolish to think he’d let it slide so easily.

"I tried to be a good man today." Cassian uttered darkly while picking up the fork he had dropped on the counter. He had been waiting for Madeline to exit the kitchen before dealing with Jeremy the way he wanted. "But when someone tries to misbehave with my wife, then forget the fact you’re my brother cause I will end you. Stay away from her."

"Is that a threat?" Jeremy didn’t flinch when Cassian took unhurried steps to stand in front of him. He was proving stubborn and Cassian wasn’t liking the attitude his younger step brother chose to display.

"It’s a piece of advice." Saying this, he spontaneously grabbed Jeremy by the collar of his shirt, forcing the young man’s feet to move backwards till his back came in hard contact with the wall behind him. "If I see you five feet near her, then I will gouge your eyes out with this same fork." He sneered. "Now that’s a threat." Releasing Jeremy’s collar that had rumpled under his fist, Cassian exited the kitchen after uttering these pained words.

"Weak."

Jeremy’s jaw clenched in fury as he watched Cassian leave the kitchen after calling him weak. The word ’weak’ was one thing Cassian knew he hated being referred to and the veins in his head popped out when he couldn’t go after the young lad. Out of anger, he slammed his fist on Counter, brushing his fingers into his hair out of frustration and silently promising Cassian a death day.

Just like Cassian had told Madeline, the young lady quickly changed her dress into something more casual. Adeline volunteered to get her ready along with a couple of extra maids, but since it wasn’t something of grand occasion, Madeline softly turned down their offer, after promising to seek their help during special occasions.

Dressed in a lavender-colored flared sleeve gown, Madeline headed down the stairs to meet Cassian. Noticing his absence in the living room, she assumed he’d be outside waiting for her already, and so she stepped out to go see if he was really there.

Opening the main door and going down the concrete stairs, to Madeline’s surprise, Orson was already out there waiting in front of one of the carriages. When he spotted her presence, he waved at her with a friendly smile gracing his lips, and Madeline waved back before going to stand before the young Lord.

"You’re here?" She asked, surprised to see him here since Cassian already said they’d be heading to the house of the Marquees.

"Yes, I am." He responded politely. "That husband of yours is a fly in the ointment. I had a lot of things to handle at work today, but look, I’m here just to prove how loyal of a friend I am to him." He hissed out, and from his expression, Madeline could tell her husband must have frustrated him enough to come down here.

She found it funny, realizing how Cassian always forced those who were close to him to do his bidding. "Forgive him on my behalf."

"Apology accepted." Orson responded with a smile. "I can’t be angry when he has someone to plead on his behalf." He added, and a friendly warm conversation began with the two of them.

"I didn’t call you over to start discussing with my wife." Commented Cassian when he finally showed up to meet the two of them. Orson immediately zipped his lips before Cassian punched him in the face for being nothing but cordial with his wife.

Madeline equally cleared her throat when he gave her one of those looks as though she had done something wrong. What did she do??

"Cas, you don’t need to be green with envy over a mere conversation." Orson stated, and that made Cassian’s frown deepen.

"Green with envy? Do I look like a man of jealousy to you?"

"Achoo!!"

"Ah...Achoool!!" Orson was the first to sneeze, followed by Amade who equally sneezed after unintentionally hearing the question the young Lord had asked.

"Bless you, Amade." Madeline quickly said, thinking he actually sneezed and he smiled at her.

"Thank you."

"Amade, the dust must be the reason for our sneezing, we must begin our journey before my stomach gets filled with lies, cough!! I mean dust." Orson quickly switched words when he noticed two sets of death beams were aimed at him.

He got into the carriage first before Cassian made up his mind to murder him.
