Chapter 253: Open Flirtation

Chapter 253: Open Flirtation

"Inna, listen to me." Abbot, who was left with Inna in the room, tried to use their alone opportunity to speak with her, but Inna, who wasn’t a fool like he had pictured her to be, quietly ate her grapes and decided to pay him a little attention since he sounded too pathetic to be ignored.

"You have to believe me, I haven’t done anything to either of you, I’m innocent. Your brother is holding me back like a criminal and he’s not being just to me. If you can get me out of this chain at least, I would very much appreciate the help."

"Uhm.. who was the one who made a deal with Elijah to raise Jeremy from the dead?" Inna randomly asked before pursing her lips as if thinking, and then she frowned at Abbot who could read her expression as ’I’m not stupid.’

"Your foolish idea endangered my brother and his wife. What did you think was going to happen once Jeremy became a dead creature? I don’t want to believe you’re stupid to not have seen Jeremy’s plan coming along before he died. If I could punch you myself, but I don’t want to get my hands messy."

"He was my brother," Abbot simply clarified, "I’m sure you’d have gone through the same extent for Cassian. He needed my help!"

"So you killed him and made him a monster that still died. How thoughtful of you." Inna’s sarcasm only got on the nerves of Abbot who could no longer contain his anger, watching the little bitch speak to him with so much disrespect, and all because he’s tied up???

"If I get my hands on you..."

"What will you do?" Elian appeared from a corner as he stepped forward, holding the gaze of Abbot who stopped in his low threat. "I dare you to lay a finger on her hair, and I won’t be so lenient with you!"

"He can’t even if he wants to." Inna teased, standing beside Elian as they stared at the raging Abbot. "He’s tied up, and we won’t let you out of here till we’re done with completing our mission, and getting rid of every creature out there. It’s for our safety."

"I am saying this for your own good." Abbot, who finally calmed by clinging onto his restraint, met Inna’s glare with his eyes that held caution. "If you don’t let me out of here, someone will die." He warned, that pitiful look on his face vanished in a fraction of second, and he leaned back against the chair holding him, "are you going to listen? Or are you going to keep being a brat?"

"You’ve made so many expressions in one day, are you having some sort of mood swings?" Inna shook her head with a sigh. "Your threats are futile, and I know what you’re trying to do here, but we won’t fall for it."

"Let’s leave, he’ll come to his senses when he’s alone." Elian, who remained unfazed, walked out of the room with Inna, and the two of them returned to the main house, walking through the hallway.

"Do you believe what he said?" Inna, who was still a bit afraid, questioned Elian who shrugged, and the look on his face turned cryptic. "That I do not know, he’s quite cunning that the things he says make no sense until they’re implemented..." Elian exhaled softly, ".... And that is something we can’t let happen."

When he glanced at Inna who walked beside him, he took notice of the red grapes she was eating from a small bowl in her hand. When she crushed a grape with her teeth, the red juice escaped from the corner of her lips, rolling down in a way that strangely enticed Elian.

He was curious to know what her blood would taste like if he had the chance to bite her.

’Think of good thoughts Elian.’ snapping his head away, he refused to fall victim to her allure, and then he said. "For someone who was taught the etiquettes of Carmarthen, you do not possess a lot of their qualities."

"It’s not about possessing them, it’s about knowing them." Inna corrected in a matter-of-fact tone, "I do not practice the etiquettes for myself, I practice it for the people so I can show it to them, not to myself."

"How do you have answers to everything?" Elian inquired with a raised brow, slightly annoyed, and Inna smiled proudly.

"When you have a mother like mine, it’s a trait you’d wish you inherited. Cas is worse than me, so he gets into more trouble."

"Ah.. Inna and Elian." Osvaldo’s charming voice made the two young individuals look up to see him heading in their direction, and Inna softly whispered. "If he wasn’t so scary during our first meeting, I would date him."

Elian’s brow knitted into a frown when he saw Inna put on her girly charm. Those etiquettes she was talking about were probably to impress men, cause she had changed completely and bowed her head as a form of greeting to Osvaldo who stood in front of them.

"It’s good I ran into the both of you, where is Cas and Madeline? I want to see them." He asked, but before Elian could answer, Inna pushed him aside and took Elian’s spot, smiling warmly at Osvaldo who was still waiting for the answer to his question.

"We don’t know where they are," she said in a much sweeter tone. "But I’d be happy to assist you in looking for them."

"Oh." Osvaldo, who was slightly taken by her beauty could only blink in surprise, but Elian suddenly grabbed Inna’s wrist and pulled her to his side.

"Don’t listen to her, you can check the library, there’s a chance you might find them there."

"Ahh... alright, but.... Inna, you have a little..." he motioned to the corner of his lips, indicating to Inna that she had a little grape juice stain lingering there.

"Care to clean it for me?" She batted her lashes at him.

"Wha--?" Osvaldo, who wasn’t used to open flirtation, could feel a pink tint heat up his cheek, his eyes holding unhidden bewilderment, and Elian had no idea what to do with the girl standing beside him.

"She gets unnecessarily high on certain days, please ignore her."

"I’m not--"

"Quiet." Elian shut her up, earning a look of displeasure from her, and Osvaldo, who seemed to understand what was going on finally snapped out of his daze, and he shook his head with a knowing smile.

"I better get going. But since Elian is here, he should help you get rid of it." Waving at the two of them to signal his leave, he continued down the hallway, and Inna could finally glare in peace.

"You ruined my moment! Did you see? I didn’t know guys could look cute when flustered." Inna commented, remembering Osvaldo’s adorable reaction, but her mind ceased when Elian turned her to look at him, and he gently wiped off the juice stain from the corner of her mouth.

"Keep provoking me," he said, green eyes meeting brown ones. "You’ll wish you didn’t."

Orson, who was passing by, couldn’t help but stop in his tracks, and his eyes widened in awe when he noticed the clear expression on Elian’s handsome face. For a second, it looked like he wanted to kiss Inna, but then he took a step back and quickly turned to walk away, leaving Inna to be stuck in a trance.

"When are those two going to admit it?" Orson whispered to himself, rolling his eyes at the same time.
