Chapter 227: Drunk At An Alehouse

"Someone explain to me, how do normal people do this on a daily basis? My feet are already aching and I’m so tired." Inna grumbled to herself as she walked in the middle of Orson and Elian who carried all her loads and bags on their shoulders.

They had just made it to the Middle East quarters, and getting past the main gate of the upper East quarters felt like knocking on trouble’s door. Due to the investigation concerning who had attacked the King was still going on, the gateman had insisted on receiving information from their parents first before letting them through.

Orson had volunteered to show his ID so they could easily get through without any problems, but Elian chose to knock the gateman out cold on the ground before they made a run for it.

Throughout the walk, Inna had made both their lives miserable with her never ending demands.

The fact that she was the one still complaining made Orson and Elian exchange glances, only to realize that they both had the same thought in mind. They had a lot of things to say concerning her neverending whining, but quickly swallowed it since it was best to let the sleeping dog lie.

Inna suddenly stopped walking, her eyes scanned through the crowd of people from the Middle East quarters. It was late afternoon, and everyone was gradually closing their shops.

"There." Inna pointed at an alehouse before her with a grin. "Let’s go there!"

"What do you intend to do there?" Orson and Elian questioned her at the same time, startling Inna a bit as she never expected they’d get overprotective, and she scowled at the two of them.

"Cassian isn’t here!" She said confidently with a grin, pushing them aside, "which means, I get to do what I want. Aren’t you two coming along, or maybe none of you aren’t interested in some drinks!" She winked.

Orson and Elian froze in their spot. They both carried a look of concern as they seemed confused on what type of drink she was boldly referring to. Inna couldn’t possibly be talking about tippler, could she??

Without waiting for them, Inna adjusted her fancy hat and walked towards the alehouse.

"This girl, she’s worse than a witch." Muttered Orson who was starting to get tired as he bent over, placing his hands on his knees. If Cassian finds out about this, there’d be no time to explain his innocence cause he’d be dead by then.

"But hey.... Don’t you want to have some?" Asked Elian, and Orson looked at him with his eyes slightly narrowed, unable to deny that he did need some.

"Yes, but not with her."

"Let it be. Come on, we need to make sure she doesn’t order what she’s not supposed to order. She might be intimidating, but her brother sits on the throne." Elian uttered with a weary sigh, and the two young men headed towards the alehouse.

Inna, Orson and Elian stepped into the alehouse, the warm glow of lanterns casting a dim light over the wooden tables and chairs.

The sound of boisterous laughter, and clinking of mugs filled the air, a clear sign the place was bustling even at night. Men and women occupied each of the round seats, talking and laughing their hearts out.

Inna’s eyes widened as she took in the raucous scene, the excitement apparent on her face.

"Ah! This looks like so much fun!" She exclaimed, making her way forward as Orson and Elian followed behind.

Not surprisingly, all heads turned to look at the trio who had joined them. Inna couldn’t care less as she was already used to being ogled at. But unbeknownst to her, Orson and Elian weren’t in approval of those lusty ustares.

Inna didn’t look her age, in the past few months her body had continuously matured, giving her those womanly assets, and her beauty heightened. By next year, she’d be a grown adult, and no doubt, she’d have many suitors lining up to seek her hand in marriage.

The thought of this didn’t make Elian happy to say the least.

Their death glares were enough to make the men in the alehouse change the direction of their gazes. Elian had to gesture to one of them to look away before his irritation reached the surface of his cup.

"Why am I irritated?" Orson muttered under his tone, finding it undeniably confusing, and to his surprise, Elian agreed with him.

"Same here, I just want to claw out their eyes from those sockets." He seethed, keeping his long Vampire nails in check.

"The ladies seem to love us too."

"I don’t really care."

"Let’s sit there!" Inna’s voice brought their attention back to her as she pointed towards one of the empty round tables ahead.

They settled at a table at the back of the room, away from all the uncomfortable stares, and only then did Inna take off her hat, placing it by her side on the table.

When the Alehouse keeper showed up at their table, Orson and Elian made sure he brought a lighter drink for Inna. Even at her refusal, Orson and Elian insisted the Alehouse keeper serve her something light.

"Why did you think I came here?" Inna asked both of them after the keeper had left.

"I don’t like this place"

"We can still leave if you don’t want anything else." Orson and Elian made their displeasure known to Inna. But she was still undeterred.

"We’re not leaving!"

In the end, the three of them stayed to have their drinks and gather their energy. Their argument soon switched into jokes with Orson sharing stories over cold mugs of ale.

As the night went on and the ale flowed freely, Inna’s words began to slur.

"Elian," she said, leaning in and giving him a flirtatious smirk that left him puzzled. "Do you perhaps.... Have a girlfriend?"

Elian nearly choked on his drink at her personal question. "What?"

"Of course he has." Orson responded in a blatant tone, "a face like that must attract.."

"He doesn’t! Keep quiet." Annoyed, Inna threw her hat at Orson to make him keep shut, leaving him baffled, and then she returned her flirty attention to Elian who cleared his throat, looking away.

"I have something to say..." she put one of her arms around Elian’s shoulder. "Listen...." She whispered.

"You’re quite handsome, and I’m beautiful, so I was thinking--"

"Inna, I think you’ve had enough drinks for the night." Orson quickly said, trying to steer the conversation back to more neutral territory.

But Inna, as usual, wasn’t deterred, "no, no, no, Elian needs to know how attractive it is, it’s important for his... his self-esteem!’
