Chapter 200: A Bite From Her Thighs (1)

By late afternoon, Madeline and Cassian were set to leave and continue their journey. Amade’s wife handed Madeline a lunch box filled with warm delicacies, and Madeline received the lunchbox with a smile of gratitude.

"I don’t know how long it’ll take to get to Whitebrige city’s capital, so please keep this with you in case you feel hungry on the way there." Amade’s wife said after Madeline had received it, and the young woman bowed her head appreciatively before smiling broadly.

"Thank you, your home gave us enough warmth and energy we needed to continue on our journey. I shall be grateful to you for your kindness."

Amade’s wife acknowledged her earnest words but made no statement.

Madeline’s gaze shifted to little Ethan who remained silent as he stood beside his Mother. His somber expression made her know he didn’t want her to leave just yet, and Madeline crouched down to his level, beckoning him forward. Noticing her gesture, the little boy left his mother’s side to hold Madeline’s outstretched hand.

"What would Ethan like his big sister to get for him when she returns, hmmn?" She asked the boy with an interesting smile, and Ethan childishly pursed his lips, thinking about what he might want, and his coffee-brown eyes lit up.

"A new ball."

"Just that?"

He nodded with enthusiasm, and Madeline’s heart warmed at his timid nature before ruffling his hair. "I’ll get you a new ball and more gifts, okay?"

Ethan nodded, but Madeline wasn’t expecting Cassian to crouch beside her.

"We’ll get Ethan two balls." Cassian added, "but in the meantime, use this to remember us." With his hands behind his back, Cassian brought it forward, revealing Ethan’s flower vase with a beautiful red rose blooming, and the little boy’s eyes widened in surprise.

Madeline wasn’t left out as her pupils dilated, seeing Ethan’s flower vase in Cas’s grasp. He changed the flower? Was this the issue he said he had to fix? Thought Madeline.

Ethan happily received his flower vase, and he thanked Cassian with a polite bow of his head. "Thank you."

"Oh! When did you learn to bow?" Ethan’s Mother asked, looking stunned by her son’s unexpected courtesy, and he pointed directly at Madeline.

"Me?" Madeline blinked, looking dazed. "But I didn’t--"

"He picked the habit from you." Cassian interpreted it for Madeline. "Kids copy their elders, and your miss-goody-two-shoes habit is starting to rub off on him." He teased, and Madeline glared at the young lad, not sure if she was supposed to take that as a compliment or something else.

"Carriage is set." They heard Amade say as he left the carriage side to join Madeline and Cassian who rose to their feet.

"I found someone who’ll assist you to Whitebrige city’s capital, come." Amade beckoned an aging-looking man with brownish hair who stepped forward from beside the carriage.

"Greetings." The man greeted them.

"His name is Henry, he’s a good trader who travels every autumn season to distribute his works to other villages and towns. He knows Whitebrige city’s capital since he’s familiar with the route." Amade explained, and the man named Henry nodded in compliance.

"Yes."

"What do I have to pay you for the ride?" Cassian asked, and the man named Henry shook his head at the offer. "No need for that My Lord, it’ll be an honor to assist the son of a noble."

Hearing the word Noble and Lord, Cassian shot Amade an intensive glare, knowing the old man had revealed his identity to the stranger, and Amade made a gesture that said; ’If you have a powerful name, why not use it to your advantage?’

Sighing out, Cassian offered his thanks to the rest of Amade’s family, and told Amade to return his greetings to Nathan who had already stepped out. While Madeline also waved her goodbyes, Amade used the opportunity to pull Cassian to the side, and he quickly whispered.

"Don’t forget to let Lady Madeline know about your feelings during the journey. The longer you hesitate, the harder it becomes, and the faster the risk."

Taking in Amade’s advice, Cassian nodded his head in a sense that he understood what Amade was trying to insinuate.

When Madeline was done, Cassian helped her get into the carriage, and he followed right after. Amade hit the side of the carriage, signaling Henry who was already seated on the coach seat to start moving, and in no time, the journey to Whitebrige city’s capital continued.

Madeline turned her head in the direction of the window. The curtains had parted at the center, giving her a view of the homes they passed, and just when her worries were getting prepared to occupy her thoughts, a certain lad suddenly rested his head on Madeline’s shoulder, his tired eyes drooping to a close, and Madeline already knew the cause of his weakness.

"Are you sure you don’t want to take my blood?" She nudged his head off her shoulder in an attempt to make him look at her. "If you keep depriving yourself of this, you could get hurt. What if you fall sick? Or what if they’re negative effects?"

At the thought of this, Madeline moved her hair to the other side of her neck, exposing her alluring swan neck to Cassian’s amused gaze.

"Take a bite, and don’t stop until you feel you’ve had enough."

"Do you promise not to make a sound then? Cause I promise you, I won’t stop." Cassian’s subtle but dark phrase had Madeline’s brows knitting together, but she nodded her head either ways, despite not understanding the meaning behind his words.

"Not your neck." He shook his head, leaving Madeline baffled. "Then where?"

Saying nothing, she watched his eyes lower down to her covered thighs, and Madeline instinctively followed his gaze, only for her to snap at him, getting the message.

"You...you want...."

"Don’t bother." He sighed. "I’m asking for too much."

Madeline said nothing for the first five minutes, but then, a look of determination graced her face, and she asked.

"Can you take it while the carriage is moving?"

"What?"
