The Baroness Misbehaves -
Chapter 158: Honeymoon
Chapter 158: Honeymoon
Early in the day, the mailman did his usual duty by dropping letters at people’s doorposts, and Cassian’s home received a letter just like the rest of the other houses.
Inna met the mailman at the door and signed before receiving the letter for Cassian. Turning the letter, Inna noticed the letter was sent from the palace, and the exquisite way the envelope had been polished was enough to make her confirm that it came from someone important.
"Must be from his Majesty." Curious, she wanted to take a peek at what was written inside, but to her unawareness, felt the letter being snatched from her grip before she could even open it to read.
"No snooping." Cassian flicked his sister’s forehead as punishment before moving to the living room with the letter.
"I was just about to bring it to you." Inna denied his accusation, still rubbing where he had flicked due to the painful sting it brought.
She followed her brother to the living room since she was still interested in knowing what was in the letter. Standing behind her brother who relaxed in the comfort of his couch, Inna watched him open the letter to read the content, but like he felt her nosy presence behind him, Cassian paused and threw one of the soft pillows at her - one Inna did not see coming as the pillow hit her perfectly.
"Ouch!" Inna’s girly wince made Cassian know she had received his little present, but he didn’t turn to look at her.
"Are you still standing there?"
"Urgh! So mean!" Inna threw the pillow back at him as revenge, but he didn’t react, and when she finally moved away, Cassian opened the letter to read, intensifying his sister’s impatience.
"Why won’t you let me see? Don’t tell me you’re having a secret affair, or is it another one of those letters from your admirers? Is that why you’re hiding it?" Inna, who wanted to know the content of the letter at all means kept pestering her brother who ignored her existence.
"What admirers?" Madeline’s inquisitive tone made Inna pause in the next word she wanted to say, her gaze shifted to Madeline who was coming out of the kitchen, and her eyes lit up as if she had come up with a tricky plan to get her brother’s attention.
"Cas’s admirers." Inna went on, pointing at her brother. "They sent him a love letter, and he won’t let me see, but I don’t care anymore cause I have exposed him."
"You arrogant little...!!.." He held back a scowl, already aware of his sister’s plan since this isn’t the first time she’s acted like this, "it’s not a love letter, idiot."
"Then let us see." She folded her arms with a coy smile playing on her lip, and Madeline, who was already curious about the letter, snatched it from behind Cassian.
"Let me see." Madeline read the letter herself, her face set into an observing expression as her eyes raked through every word.
A smile played on her lips as she looked at Cassian. "It’s an invitation to the palace?"
"Yes." He answered, patiently waiting for his wife to return the letter back to him which she did. "His Majesty has invited us all to the palace for a little ceremony he’s holding tomorrow night. That buffoon must be plotting something to stress or annoy me once again." Cassian returned the letter back to the envelope, and Madeline took her seat beside Cassian.
"That gives us a chance to tell him about Whitebrige city’s capital, he needs to know we’ll be going there, right?"
"Going where?" Inna, who was silently jubilating over the invitation to the palace, instantly paused upon hearing Madeline make mention of the two of them going somewhere.
"Where are you two going?"
"On our honeymoon, mind your business." Cassian’s retort made Inna seal her lips as she couldn’t come up with an appropriate comeback on time, but it didn’t stop her from hitting him with a glare.
"Don’t listen to your brother," Madeline looked at Inna with a smile, "we’ll be visiting Whitebrige city’s capital, Cas and I have something important to do there."
"Can I come?"
"No, absolutely not." Cassian refused before Madeline could give a response. "It’s a ’Honeymoon’ the time when husband and wife travel out to spend some quality time alone, and you’re not invited."
"Cas."
"What?" He looked at his wife, wondering what he was saying wrong. "If she comes, we won’t have time to cuddle or roll under the sheets together, and forget it, there’s absolutely no way we’ll be doing it on the bed alone. We’ll be two lovers who can’t resist each other’s touch, and Inna’s innocent eyes won’t be able to handle the sight of pure pleasure."
Madeline choked on the rest of the word she had been meaning to say, but Cassian’s lewd statement happened to steal it all away. Her reaction made Cassian smirk since he knew his wife would get flustered, but he immediately wiped the smirk off his face after Madeline gathered enough courage to look at him.
"We..... We’re not going there for that," she reminded him. "We have something important--"
"That is also important, my love." He winked in an attempt to fluster up his innocent wife. "Do I have to educate the two of you on what honeymoon stands for? Didn’t your duenna give you lessons on Honeymoon and what it stands for?"
Inna rolled her eyes at Cassian’s perverted nature coming to light.
"Did you have to break it down?" Inna facepalmed, wondering how on Earth she ended up having a brother like him, but Cassian’s shamelessness knew no limits.
"I have to, you can’t come with us cause I intend to do it all day with my wife, night time, morning time, afternoon, evening, and I don’t need extra eyes trying to monitor the things I do." He hit her with a look that told Inna he was referring to that particular day when she admitted she saw him going out with the bedsheet.
She cleared her throat, knowing she was, without a doubt, guilty of monitoring Cassian a lot.
"So who will stay with me?"
"Orson and Elian will be here, if you aren’t comfortable with them here, I can take you to the mansion, or I can send a letter to mother, in case you wish to stay with Grandmother for the meantime."
"None, leave me here with Elian and Orson, I don’t want to go back to that house."
"Then it’s settled." Cassian and his sister reached an agreement as usual. Not willing to drag it further, Inna looked at Madeline with a smile.
"Maddie, I was thinking, we should go out and get some dresses for tomorrow night. I will quickly change before we leave." The excited Inna didn’t wait to hear Madeline’s response before hurrying up the stairs to quickly change her dress, looking excited as a teen ready to find her prince charming in a royal ball.
"If mother was here to see you act unlady-like." Muttered Cassian as he watched his sister hurry up the stairs, and he clicked his tongue.
"Did you really mean it when you said you’d do it all day?" Madeline, who was still in the middle of recovering from what he had just said about them making love all day, couldn’t help blurting it out to him to confirm if she heard right.
Cassian looked at his wife, taking notice of her rapid heart beat and flustered expression, and he raised a sexy brow that signaled more taunting coming her way, making Madeline instantly regret asking him something he would gladly give a response to since he enjoyed turning her into a blushing mess.
"Refresh my memory and please be specific, what did I say we were going to do all day again?" He pretended to have forgotten, and Madeline certainly wasn’t ready to blurt this one out.
She wasn’t going to fall for it.
"Nevermind, I also have to get dressed to leave with Inna as well." Rising to her feet, Madeline went up the stairs without sparing the young lad a single glance, and Cassian knew he had created a little firestorm inside his wife.
