The Baroness Misbehaves
Chapter 139: Where Is He?

Chapter 139: Where Is He?

Taking notice of where she had walked past, there was not a single obstacle that could have warranted her fall, leaving Cassian and Madeline to exchange glances as though they just thought of the same thing, but none of them chose to say a word about it.

"Let’s go." Holding Madeline close, he took her away and back to where the rest of the family had gathered, wanting to give their goodbyes and return back home.

Inna found a quiet place where she could sit, her expression far from what was happening with the rest of the family, but she was snapped out of her thinking when Oliver joined her. He adjusted his glasses while also staring into space, and a soft sigh left his lips before he turned his head to meet Inna’s stare.

"Why are you sitting by yourself?" He asked, and Inna pursed her lips while shaking her head, then averted her gaze to the direction where the family had gathered.

"I’m just worried." She answered honestly. "What about you? Why are you here?"

"Well, I came out with outstanding results in my exams." He told her before resting his cheeks on both of his palms, propping them up with the help of his knee. "I promised myself that if I came out great, I would rejoice with everyone and we can go out together for once, as a family..." he let out a sigh of disappointment. "But I’m not even happy with myself."

Inna watched as he blew off a lock of blonde hair that kept falling to his face with a dispirited look, and she placed a comforting hand on his shoulder before smiling faintly. "Times are bad, and you have the right to feel this way since you recently lost your brother, but do not be disheartened by it cause this isn’t the end. When all this is over, we’ll definitely celebrate your result, it’s not easy to get an outstanding score, unlike me who got above average."

Oliver smiled at her words, and his eyes suddenly widened as his brows rose. "Hold on." Getting down from the high cemented place where they sat, Inna watched with curious eyes as he hurried off like he forgot something, and it didn’t take too long before he returned with her Cello.

"Here, you forgot this at the mansion." He handed it to her. "Frederick helped me snuck it into the carriage before we left. You always played your cello every morning, so I figured you’d need it back."

"Oliver." Inna couldn’t express the surprise that overwhelmed her at the sight of her cello, and she received it with gratitude. "Thank you."

"It’s just us, wanna play a piece? I secretly listen to you play the Cello even at mother’s objection." He confessed with a smile, and Inna’s gaze warmed at his word. She cleared her throat whilst trying to think of a song that would lift both their spirits.

"Oh! I’ve got just the right thing." Placing her Cello properly in front of her, Inna began to play a piece using the slender bow that came with it. She started it off with a soft tune, and in no time the tune began to pick up speed in an unusual timbre as her mind unexpectedly wandered to Elian, curiously wondering where he must be and what he must be doing.

In a constructed hidden room beneath what looked like an abandoned mansion, a single bed was placed in the center of the room with the walls decorated with chains and shackles. Stains of black blood were smudged on the chains as though it had already been used on someone, and an eerie light illuminated the room from a single source of fire, a single candle resting at the bedside to aid the mysterious room as it flickered sharply.

The room itself was gloomily dark and damp, with a sense of dread and unease that permeated the air, intensified by the smell of rot, mold, and rust that seemed to creep up from the walls and the floor, yet it didn’t bother the redhead who was sitting comfortably at a table in a corner, rubbing something acidic on his twin blade as it oozes out a whitish gas to the owners excitement.

On the single bed lay a trapped woman with matted hair, wearing shabby-looking clothes that were stained with dried blood - a black blood that had left her skin, signifying the torture she went through before finally being tamed. Her wrist and ankles were chained by heavy manacles, restricting her movements as her white eyeballs displayed the anger that was rising inside of her as she began to awaken.

The chains rattle and clank with every twitch of her body movement. When all her efforts to free herself turned out to be in vain, a low growl, more animal-like than humans filled the room as she strained against the chains, pulling with all her might in an attempt to free herself from the bondage, but the chains held her steady in place despite her continuous endeavors to break it.

"You bastard!!" She cursed at the red-haired vampire who was busy humming a calm tone as he sharpened his twin sword with a little glimmer of excitement in his blood-thirsty red eyes, completely ignoring the possessed woman who was busy throwing derogatory words at him.

"Look at me!" She raged in an inhumane voice before letting out an unnatural chuckle when he stole a boring glance at her. Her eyes were pure white, and her skin color was starting to turn green as her veins began to pop out. Her sharp dirty teeth were revealed when she chuckled louder, no different from the laugh of a maniac, but then her chuckle died down into little sobs as she looked around.

"It’s dark in here." She whispered, her chest rising and falling as she met Elian’s gaze. "Release me, save me, I’m not what you think I am."

"Just a minute." Elian casually responded before continuing to sharpen his blade, further aggravating the ghost-possessed woman who sneered at him and made the chains holding her wrist clank violently.

"GET OVER HERE AND RELEASE ME!!!!!"

Elian sighed deeply as he stopped what he was doing. Unable to deal with the mad Ghost’s inhumane voice and annoying disturbances, he walked up to the bed where he had her trapped, her eyes showing how much she wanted to rip him into pieces if he made the mistake of coming any nearer.

"So impatient." Elian tsked, "I never knew one can anticipate death the way you do." He returned to his sword and picked it up. "I’ve dealt with many evil spirits, but you’re one interesting ghost, sigh.... I’m sorry for the humans who had to face this dilemma."

He dared to climb on top of the bed, hovering above the evil spirit that once again tried to free herself and get her hands on Elian, but the young vampire just smirked and leaned even closer till their faces were inches apart, his frightening gaze unwavering.

"Where is he? Where is he hiding??"

Elian’s tone had grown impossibly dark as he questioned the evil spirit he had trapped against the bed, but the evil spirit remained relentless in trying to make an attack on him as it tried to bite his face. To make it behave, Elian took one of his twin swords and made sure he held it by the hilt, the sharp tip pointing at the possessed woman’s chest, and with horrific eyes, it watched as the acidic water began to roll down till it stopped at the tip of his blade.

"Noo! AHHH!!!!!" The possessed woman screamed when it dropped and touched her exposed chest, burning her skin immediately as she continuously struggled and tried to free herself from Elian’s clutches, but it was all to no use as he continued to torture the evil spirit on the bed.

"I couldn’t even sharpen my blade properly," he finally stopped. "But since you wish to die so badly, I might as well just give it to you." He smirked, revealing his fangs.

"You son of a whore! You piece of shit!!" The evil spirit kept throwing names until Elian mercilessly sank his blade into her chest.

The woman’s scream intensified, reaching an ear-piercing crescendo as Elian took out his blade and mercilessly stabbed her somewhere else. He continued with the non-stop stabbing, the blood coating his face until the evil spirit stopped struggling and went limp on the bed, her body falling into an unnatural stillness.

It barely took up to a minute before the body disintegrated into black ashes on the bed.

"What a bitch!" He cursed underneath his breath before getting off the bed. His elegant face was already contorted with sweat and blood as he made his way out of the room.

Once again, he failed to get information on the whereabouts of the person he was looking for, but it didn’t matter, cause it was easier to run, than it is to hide.
