Chapter 133: Breakfast In Bed
Chapter 133: Breakfast In Bed
Madeline slowly opened her eyes as a contented sigh left her lips that morning. The cooling-off season was starting to make her feel cold as she covered herself properly with the thick blanket, finding comfort in its warmth, but then something entirely different struck her when she noticed the blanket she was using was completely different from the ones they normally used at night.
Gently propping herself up to take in the changes of the bedsheet, a sore feeling between her legs made her hiss out as she tried to move, but paused due to the light aches. For a brief moment, she couldn’t guess exactly what made her feel this way until she took notice of her nakedness when she stole a peek under the bed sheet, already aware of the fact that something wasn’t right with her body.
Out of impulse, she instantly pulled the blanket above her chest as her tired eyes widened at the sight of her own naked body. Memories of the night began to flood her head, and she recalled the intense passion she shared with Cassian on the same bed - the way she acted and how loud she moaned against him as he made love to her.
Madeline facepalmed at the recollection of what they did last night, and she could feel her heart swell, unable to believe that she did those things with him and survived the embarrassment he made her pass through.
Looking at the empty space beside her, it was clear he had gotten out of bed early, and who else could have changed the bed sheet if not him. But then, why did he change it?
Gently moving her legs in an attempt to stand up, the soreness she felt made it difficult for her to get out of bed, and at that moment, the door suddenly opened, revealing a familiar strikingly-handsome young man who held a breakfast tray in his hand, and Madeline’s face bloomed red when he smiled in her direction.
"Good morning." He greeted her, and it took a while before Madeline could recover from the attractive glowing sight of him.
"Good morning." She answered, her voice barely above a breath, and she thought that she must have lost her voice due to all the screams he forced out of her last night.
Goodness! Why was she remembering it??
Dropping the tray at the side table, Cassian suddenly leaned in to give her a kiss on the lips, and Madeline’s heart felt full to the point of bursting at his loving gesture. He pulled back before grabbing a chair and taking his seat beside the bed.
"How are you feeling?" He asked while meeting her gaze, he took notice of how slightly pale she had become, and he was very much aware that it was his fault since he dug more than she could possibly chew from him. A faint smile adorned her lips, and she looked out the window, staring into the clear morning clouds before letting out a soft hum.
"Breakfast already?"
"Past breakfast actually." Cassian corrected, "it’s getting past 11am and I would have woken you up if I still found you asleep." The corner of his lips lifted. "Inna wanted to bring it here herself, but I offered to take care of you since I suspected you’d be more comfortable with me seeing you like this."
"Cas."
"Can you walk?" He moved closer, wanting to examine the pain he knew she felt as he reached for the blanket. "Let me have a look instead and see for myself."
"No no." Madeline quickly slapped his hands off when he touched the blanket, already flustered. "I feel a bit sore down there but that’s it, you don’t need to look at anything." The crimson color on her cheeks expanded, but Cassian who was still very much concerned thought it would be better for him to have a look and make sure it wasn’t anything serious.
"We’ve seen ourselves already, I just need to take a look or else I’ll feel guilty for causing you pain."
"Well you should." Madeline countered back. "You promised you’d be gentle with me, you lied." She reminded him of his own words, and Cassian clicked his tongue when he noticed her displeased expression, but the blushes on her cheeks already gave away her true feelings regarding how she felt when he got rough with her.
"Should I also remind you of how you pleaded with me to go faster?" The minute he said it, Madeline placed a finger to her lips as her eyes snapped at him, gesturing at the mischievous young lad to shush his mouth.
"Don’t remind me. This is about you, not me." Her reaction only made the young woman look cuter, and Cassian bit his bottom lip to restrain the urges building inside of him once again, and he finally released it with a sigh.
"Fine, I won’t say or look." He assured her, finally surrendering to the feisty woman. "You don’t need to get out of bed. I’m here if you need anything, do you want to shower? I can get the bath ready, or do you need your pills? Should I get you water to drink?"
"You are too kind." Madeline smiled sarcastically. "I want to rest some more, and yes I need a glass of milk, something to step down my breakfast, and some freshly plucked berries to keep me busy when I’m done having breakfast. Oh! A massage wouldn’t hurt either."
"What’s next? Helping you add weight?" He teased, and Madeline’s smile faded slowly as she looked at him. Was there ever going to be a day when he would speak to her without taunting her? "And here I thought you were being kind to me."
"I’ve always been kind." He answered, but then Madeline shook her head. "Today you need to be extra kind to me."
"You’re taking advantage of what I did to you, aren’t you?" His eyes narrowed as he figured out her plan, and Madeline shrugged with a revealing smile. "I deserve better."
"Better make good use of it while it lasts." He rose from his seat. "In the end, I’ll benefit from it." A wicked smile adorned his sinful lips as he turned to take his leave, and Madeline swallowed as she watched him leave to go get the things she asked for, not sure if she should be worried about his statement or that look on his face that told her he was beginning to plot something scandalous.
Going down the stairs, Cassian made his way to the kitchen to fetch a glass of milk for Madeline. As he poured her a glass, he couldn’t stop himself from reminiscing about how she acted, and a sigh left his lips when he had to go over her exigencies.
"I’m starting to worry about her demands if she falls pregnant." He commented. "Maybe I’ll bribe Frederick and Adeline to come listen to her when that eventually happens." He muttered, already thinking about the future as he nodded to his own suggestion.
Inna stepped into the kitchen at the right time, looking surprised to see her brother standing there, and she leaned against the entrance of the door, watching him with her arms folded.
"When was the last time you ever used a kitchen." Uttered Inna, and Cassian rolled his eyes as he set the glass milk on a tray before turning to look at his sister. "Don’t let me start with you this morning."
Giggling silently, Inna walked into the kitchen to join him as she also served herself a glass of warm milk. "I’m just expressing my awe. You know I’ve always pictured you in an apron doing kitchen work as punishment when we were younger, and all that’s left for that dream to be fulfilled right now is adding an apron to your looks, hold on, I’ll get you an apron."
"Listen, don’t mess with me, I’m serious." He picked up a knife from the open drawer when Inna inched towards him with an apron in her hand. "I have no business with you, all this is for my lovely wife upstairs, she needs enough rest, and of course, being the good husband that I am, I have to take care of her."
Inna rolled her eyes at his boasting. "No wonder you’re glowing today, you two finally did it." She winked at Cassian. "Don’t deny it, I saw you getting rid of the bedsheet earlier this morning."
Cassian, who wasn’t expecting his sister to say something like that to him, suddenly choked at his own unspoken words, and he fixed his gaze on the tray before clearing his throat and looking away to pick up a mini glass bowl from the cabinet.
"I am not comfortable having that conversation with you, here, get me some freshly picked berries from the garden." He handed the bowl to Inna who shook her head in refusal.
"She asked you to do it."
"I’m older, I’m sending you."
"So much for a good husband." Inna knew she couldn’t argue when he used the word ’older’ on her, and despite her reluctance, she took the bowl from him.
"I’ll go if you answer just one of my many questions." She proposed, and Cassian leaned his back against the counter, his brows knitted.
"Which is?"
"How do you know Elian? And why is he staying here?"
