THE AWAKENING: BIO-GENETICS
Chapter 289: Where It All Began

Chapter 289: Where It All Began

The loud roaring sounds of their Hellhound could be heard, they assembled just close to the barrier awaiting it to pull up so that they can move out.

Shino was leading at the forefront, the rest behind him as they waited patiently, the barrier lifted and their Hellhound’s engine roared ready to zoom off, the barrier was finally opened for them and they zoomed out in speed, the barrier shutting behind them.

The rest of the Bio-genetics were left behind. Ten, Daiki, Homura, Mary, Yumi, Kaname, Haya, Himari, Ryu, Aimi. They all watched as the Strike Team drove into a distance.

Hours Later

Yumi groaned lifting some boxes, she dropped them on the floor before panting and wiping some sweat off her forehead, there was much work to be done, she can’t slack now, the civilians needed shelter and homes, so she was helping them out, she couldn’t protect the barrier like the others so she settled here where she might be needed.

She was about to move the boxes once again but then her eyes caught something, she searched the box pulling out a customized camera, seeing this she knew it was made by Engr. Kazuya herself. She spotted yet another thing in the box, a picture and she pulled it out.

Her eyes circled in tears and snorts came off her nose as she sniffed multiple times, it was the very picture taken by Takashi of the 51 bio-genetic before their second mission to Fukuoka. Seeing the faces she hadn’t seen in a while she broke into tears. ’Everyone’ she cried, her hands settled on her lap, tears dripping on her palms. ’Mirai-chan, everyone’ she sobbed using the back of her hands to wipe her tears but they just kept falling. ’Come back!’

The Strike Team

They drove in the wide road area with several abandoned buildings beside every path they drove past, sand covering most of it.

Shino’s eyes were up ahead, seeing the dark cloud that covered a particular area.

"That’s the place," Sumi said driving beside him.

"Yes," Shino said sternly, where it all began. "The Chemical Plant"

Ren checked his beeping watch. "Multiple Kaijus are headed our way!" he announced.

"Alpha’s?"

"No Just Kaijus"

"You know what to do, Sumi, Hiro, Kaneki, Raiden with me!" Shino ordered.

"Roger!" They answered driving next to him.

"Sumi now!"

Sumi put her Hellhound on automatic before seating up, her hands waved and her blood weapon followed, the two thin materials as they swirled around her.

"BLOOD TECHNIQUE: NET!" she yelled as her blood weapon multiplied around them in a circle, like a barrier, the moment the Kaijus jumped at them they were slit to pieces.

"Sumi hold it as much as you can" Shino instructed.

"I will try" she growled, her hands stretched out, blood trailing from her nose.

The multiple Kaijus that came at them all dropped dead from being slit into pieces and they surged forward.

The dark clouds were now under them, the tires of their Hellhounds brushed against the dirt ground and the black dot dew fell like snow, fell.

"It’s just like Black Storm day," Mirai said with shaky eyes.

"I-I can’t hold it much longer!" Sumi growled as her net shook almost breaking apart and the Kaijus remained ruthless.

"Kaneki, Raiden!" Shino yelled.

"You got it!"

Raiden brought out his sniper gun and released wild red energy at the clustering Kaiju’s reducing their mindless attack. Kaneki shot from his end too.

Shino’s eyes scanned properly, seeing no more incoming Kaiju just the ones attacking them. ’Ten was right’ Shino thought. ’Not all the Kaijus are under the queen’s control, they can only control a certain amount of them with the Alphas’ Ten was able to deduce this fact, this very Kaijus attacking them was all the Queen could throw at them. ’It’s time!’

"Hiro you’re up!"

Hiro placed his hand on his Hellhound and lifted it so he stood on his Hellhound squatting, his sword pointing behind beaming in wild dark blue energy.

"Sumi!"

"AAAAHHHH!" she yelled releasing the net and the Kaijus jumped at them in force.

But Hiro was fast, in a zap of blue energy he separated the remaining Kaiju’s heads from their body.

They came to a sudden stop their Hellhound powering down.

Shino pants his eyes scanning for any potential threats but that was all of it for now. The rest panted too.

Hiro lands before them on his feet, and the blue energy swirling around him, subsides.

"Sumi are you alright?" Shino asked.

"I’m fine," she said wiping the blood off her nose, that particular technique always seemed to drain her.

"Hiro," Yuki said gaining their attention.

"This is the amusement park," Hiro said.

They finally observed their surroundings, observing the abandoned things around, it was just like Hiro said, this was the amusement park from three and a half years ago on Black Storm day.

Certain images played in Hiro’s head and his fist clenched hard.

’Hiro’

’Hiro’

He could hear his parent’s voices in his head.

"My house isn’t far from here," Sumi said as some harsh memories were relived in her head.

"Rin and I came here for the park opening," Ren said sadly.

Mosu’s eyes saddened as he recalled his.

"My dojo is miles away from here," Mirai said in a sad tone.

"My plane must have crashed around this area too," Kaneki said reliving the moments that he thought were his last.

"The entire place the explosion covered is within this dark cloud," Raiden said. "This is where Dr. Touka and the others found us"

Mizuki’s sad eyes scanned the area, and his smile ceased. "I was here too with some friends when it happened"

"We should keep moving," Shino said.

Hiro walked back to his Hellhound in silence and they drove off the area.

They rode further and further into the hazard area, and suddenly Ren’s watch started beeping again.

"What’s it again, Alphas?" Shino asked in alert, the rest were too.

Ren checked his watch puzzled. "No it’s..." he came to a halt, and the others did too.

"Some kind of temperature signature, it’s different from the Kaijus and the were-Alpha"

"Y-You mean like the Colossal Kaiju?!"

"No" Hiro stated gaining their attention, he could feel it too, this wasn’t a colossal Kaiju or the Queen Kaiju, this was different entirely.

"The temperature signature... it’s just like ours"
