Chapter 284: This Is Not Over
Chapter 284: This Is Not Over
"Due to General Anzai’s sacrifice, we have been spared for now," Tori said with sad eyes. "Along our way to Fukuoka we lost one chopper, we lose 60% of Humanity... for now we’re safe, we haven’t spotted any Kaiju outside the barrier, we don’t know for how long... but we are out of trouble"
"I see," Kiyoshi said with sad eyes.
Touka, Kazuya, Hachiro, and Kaede were present in the small meeting.
"We should take this as... this is not over, we’re still at war, the Kaijus might decide to strike again when they are reinforced or worse we might face yet another Colossal Kaiju," Kaede said as her eyes trembled.
"The bio-genetics?"
"They’re recuperating but..." Hachiro paused, he didn’t need to say the rest for it was well understood.
"I see," Kiyoshi said as his eyes fell on Touka who was silent with dark looks. "This may be too sudden but the plan to eliminate the Queen will still be set in motion... Anzai would have wanted it too"
Touka’s lips quivered.
"He sacrifice himself so that we may realize it, he didn’t give up on Humanity until the very end... we shouldn’t too"
Hot tears streamed down Touka’s cheeks swiftly.
"The bio-genetics still remains the only military force we have left and the hope for humanity"
Hachiro faces Touka, before placing his hand on her, which she grips tightly as she cried silently.
Kazuya’s sad eyes were on the desk.
"General Anzai’s sacrifice will be forever remembered, for he gave us a chance to end this war"

"You guys will be sent back" Ten began biting his bottom lip. "It will be suicide!"
"We have no choice... we have to end this war," Shino said sternly.
"But-"
"If we don’t then General Anzai would have died for nothing!"
Ten’s eyes shocked before they dropped to the ground. "Then let me come with you, you guys will need me"
Shino rose to his feet. "You will be needed here Ten, just the Strike Team will finish this"
"There’s nothing left of us..." Ten began in tears. "The humanity we aimlessly set to protect, there’s nothing much left, most of the bio-genetics are gone and..." he sniffled. "And..."
"Do not give up hope Ten"
Ten wiped his tears looking up at Shino staring at his back, was it just him, or was Shino looking stronger than ever. "Shino"
"If we give up now..." he faces Ten with stern looks. "Then it would have all been for nothing"

"This isn’t over is it?" Aimi said to Mirai, Mary, and Yumi who came to visit.
Mirai shook her head. "It’s not", she says, her eyes on Sand on the bed.
"Mirai-chan," Yumi said with trembling eyes.
Aimi’s fist clenched hard on her lap, tears dripping on it. "General Anzai," she said in a voice coated with her cries, she heard everything from them.
"Don’t die" she said in tears. "I will not be able to take it... if .... if" she broke. "If any of my friends die, I-I-I won’t"
Mary placed a hand on her shoulder. Her eyes were on Sand.
"Please all of you come back in one piece" she sniffled.
Mirai was silent because there were no words to be said right now, she turned to leave but Yumi held her shirt from behind. The wind whistled in through the window, and the bangs of Yumi’s golden lock covered her eyes. Her hand trembled.
Mirai forces a smile before facing Yumi and placing a hand on her shoulder. "It will all be alright Yumi," she said with the biggest smile she could muster.
"Mirai... chan?"
"Wait for me okay?" she pulled some strands of her golden locks behind her ear, before pulling away.
Yumi panicked about going to her but Mary stopped her. Yumi watches with her teary eyes as Mirai walks away.
"Don’t Yumi" Mary said faintly for she knew it was for the best.
The doors shut close. Yumi’s eyes circled in tears, "I will wait for you Mirai-chan!" she yelled in tears. "You and idiot Kaneki better come back!" she sniffled and cried. "Better come back!"
Mirai was outside the door her lips quivered but she made sure she didn’t cry. "Mm," she walked away.

Raiden watches the skies, parting from the dark clouds, the wind carrying his white hair. The morning came so fast.
Mosu came behind him, watching the skies too.
"Pretty isn’t it?" Raiden asked.
Mosu’s gaze leveled. "No... it’s not" he answered faintly.
Raiden’s eyes fell sad at his words.
"The skies lost its beauty when the world ended"
"Asano always said the skies were beautiful"
"Only if we end this..." Mosu’s fist tightened. "Then it can be beautiful again"
"Mm," Raiden made a sound in agreement.

Sumi sat at the top of the building watching the parting clouds, she heard footsteps approaching her from behind and she could tell who it was.
"Sumi... we’re gathering... you should come too," Shino said.
"The Strike Team will still take the lead huh?"
"We have no choice... we must end this," Shino said sternly.
"You know... I have always hated this world, the skies, the earth, the people, everything" she began. "This was the definition of cruel for me... I was more than happy after we were told the world ended, I thought yes the world deserved it"
"Sumi-"
"I took my own father’s life with my hands"
Shino paled at her confession, his eyes widened in pure shock.
"Keep hiding from the truth and it will consume you... I’m not afraid to tell you but I don’t regret doing it", she rose to her feet and jumped from the platform before walking past him but before she did, Shino stopped her by grabbing her arm.
"I just told you one of my darkest secrets, idiot"
"We all have dark secrets"
Her teeth clenched hard, she yanked her arm away from his hold. "Didn’t you hear me! I said I killed my father with these hands, I don’t regret it, because he deserved it, he got what he deserved!" she yelled, her eyes trembling as the tears threatened to fall. "Then why... why are you looking at me that way, you damn idiot!"
Shino’s sad eyes were on her.
"I’m a damn murder, don’t you get that?!"
"Sumi", he began placing his hands on her cheeks so that she would look at him and she did with trembling eyes.
