Chapter 265: The Mourning Ceremony. Part 4

’Necromancer magic, basic dark magic attack, dark chains, crow eyes. These are the basic magic I can cast after sacrificing a living thing by drawing a magic circle. The duration of magic, the amount of magic spells I can cast and the amount of power and density of the attack all depend on the living thing I am sacrificing.’

’A cat or a small dog can supply me with more power than a rat. And a big dog can supply me with more power than a smaller one. Just like that, a small human can’t supply me with more power than an adult one.’

’The world I came to complete my quest is a world where people have superhuman strength, not magic. This means people with various types of power can be seen here. A person born with a fire element in his body can only cast fire attacks or manipulate it to use it in daily life. The same goes for those who lift heavy weights. And those who can fly are very rare here. It’s almost like a legend but there are people who can jump so high that they could be mistaken as flying by people from time to time.’

’But the people having these types of abilities are so tiny that only 3% of the entire pollution of this planet possesses these. Some surveys also say that about half of the ability holders hide their ability or someone might not even realise they have such abilities. Also, there are criminals who use their ability to commit crimes. This covers more than 10% of the population which is not a small sum.

Means, about 10 people out of 100 hold these types of abilities and there are possibilities of having a friend or family member who has these abilities but decided to hide them just to live normally.’

’But this kid whom I’m possessing doesn’t have such abilities. This kid is a normal kid but the kid I’m seeing in front of me sure has an ability that helps her to cheat or steal. Heheh.. And how do I know this? Isn’t it obvious? I can smell people using abilities and the person who holds these types of abilities smells a little sweet that makes my mouth drool.’

Adonis smiled and again called Kanna, the girl who was sitting in front of him.

Kanna, Futaba, Mahiko and Umiro were childhood friends. They studied in the same middle school and still, they study in the same high school. Kanna had feelings for Futaba after they entered high school but after she heard he wasn’t interested in anyone, she went straight to Mahiko because her adolescence stage made her in need of attention. Umiro wasn’t interested in such things but securely she had feelings for Mahiko. But after seeing him chasing Kanna, she just gave up on young kids and looked for mature men. She liked men who were twice her age.

Luckily, she found someone and decided to have a relationship. Ended up finding out he was married and had kids.

Again, she just gave up and focused on her studies.

About Futaba? Among the group, he was the oddest one who never said anything about himself. He was the one who always talks about others and ignores them when someone asks something about him.

But his looks, his talent and his achievements automatically made him the Prince of the school which made the bond of his friendship strong.

His friends believed someday he would talk about him so they just forgot about that matter and enjoyed their school life.

Adonis again poked Kanna from her back and whispered, "Hey, do you really want to go with me? It’s dangerous, you know. I heard some wild dogs come out at night in the forest. Moreover, what will you say to your parents"

Kanna turned back and replied, "Futaba, you’re overthinking it

I talked with my mother on break. She said it’s okay to go hiking because there is a shrine right next to the forest."

"But did you mention the "Night Hiking" park?"

"Don’t worry. I will manage it."

Adonis looked to his left and said, "Oi Mahiko, Kanna says she didn’t mention anything about night hiking to her mother."

"Futaba, you’re an idiot. None of us mentioned anything about the night to our parents. If we did, none of us would get permission to hike. So shut up."

Adonis knew they were all panned from their very birth. They were all selected to become part of the god’s quest before they were born. So Adonis smiled a little and mumbled, ’This quest is finally going to start today in the afternoon. Heheh. I can’t wait to taste their tasty flesh. It’s been so long since I tasted something raw. My mouth is already drooling.’

It was almost 3 when all of them went back to their house after school. Since they were planning to hike, they all went to their house to rest for an hour, eat something and prepare for the hiking plan. But it was different for Adonis.

He just went home, stayed silent and left a small note that he’d be back in a week for vacation.

For the past two months, he left home once a week without telling anyone. At first, his family was worried but after a few weeks, they got used to it and stopped worrying about him because they thought he was just hanging out with friends.

It was all part of his plan to make them get used to his absence so he could finally join the quest without anyone searching for him.

He needed time for his quest after all. But before he started his quest, he already made a few laps around the quest zone a month ago.

The forest was huge and it had heavy vegetation. So in order to check the whole area, he has to set traps to capture some wild animals for his ritual.

After sacrificing them in exchange for dark energy, he cast a crow-eye magic spell to look throughout the entire forest. Each time he cast the spell, he had to use 10 small rats.

But a month was enough to cover the entire area. The most uninteresting thing was he spotted the house in nine different areas.

The house was alive and it was moving in a circular pattern all around the forest. Adonis marked all the areas where the house was spotted and finally got the clue where the house was going to appear next.

As planned, he made a few undead rabbits and sent them inside the house. He slowly made the map of the house by sending the rabbits and finally, the day of the quest came.

’What I heard from the small undead is a bit interesting and also dangerous. There are evil spirits inside the abandoned house and countless mazes, loops and rooms that they couldn’t explore. They were secured with a type of magic that prevented my undead from entering. The reason why my undead could run around the house was because they are also evil creatures and those who were inside the abandoned house weren’t hostile towards them. But there were some exceptions where those undeads couldn’t enter some room and I can already guess the reason behind it. Those protective barriers could be only opened by a person and it’s a function of the quest. There might be a hidden boss, a trigger side quest or treasury. But I don’t need to be careful because I reek of evil-_-. When I walked down the street, I could sense the evil presence running away from me because they thought I might eat them. Well, they aren’t wrong. I CAN eat them as a source of dark energy but it’s so hard to capture them because they can fly and walk past a wall-_-. So, I need to hide my presence when I enter the abandoned house to let the quest continue without any issues. My presence will affect if all the evil presences run away. The evil spirits are an important part of the quest and I can’t wait to munch on their young juicy flesh...’

Adonis felt a little hungry after thinking about human meat for only a minute. He was waiting in front of a bus station for his friends to arrive. Since he was the first one to arrive, he already started munching on a hamburger.

"Futaba, you’re already eating all of your rations."

Adonis looked back and saw Mahiko with a small backpack. Not only him, but he also came along with a company of two boys from his class.

Ryoko and Hajime, a good friend of Futaba as well. So he stood up and said, "I never thought you guys would tag along. Aren’t you scared? We are literally going to explode an abandoned house. Not to mention, we will be arriving there at night."

Ryoko laughed and said, "Don’t worry. It’s just an old house. What could possibly go wrong?"

Adonis kept smiling and thinking about how much food he was going to consume that night.

At that moment, the girl group came and Adonis saw another head. It was another girl from his class whose name was Rika. An intelligent girl who likes to compete with Futaba. She was there because she didn’t want to be left alone when Futaba was going on a friend’s trip. She wanted to surpass Futaba at everything.

’So we have many types of idiots here. A couple, a friendly one who loves to stick together, an envious one who’ll probably die hard, some randoms who might get eaten at the first stage and a lovey-dovey who will betray everyone to win. Looks like this game is going to be fun!’
