Chapter 221: A new problem
Viktor wanted to walk more but he was exhausted. His stomach was full, his body wasn’t tired, his mana was restored after he gained levels but still, his mind was telling him to rest.
His vision was getting blurry because of sleep.
"Ugh, why am I sleepy now... I have to become at least level 45 or 50 before I go back to the academy."
Viktor checked his timer and saw it had been only 3 hours since he came inside the poison dungeon.
"Is this because of the dense demonic mana inside? Demonic mana isn’t poisonous to my body. Actually, it’s a great fertilizer for my fragment. My fragment doesn’t care if it’s demonic or angelic. If it’s mana, then it’s food and the source of energy."
Viktor cast a water spell on his face to drive away his sleepiness and looked around.
"I’ve walked pretty deep inside this dungeon. Those lizard monsters’ memory says it was the borderline of their territory. If I cross this cave and went inside the other path, I will find the territory of golems. They are all above level 57. So it’s not a suitable opponent for me. But high risk can give me high rewards. So I will take this path and walk straight into the territory of golems."
Viktor started walking towards the dark path and slowly, his environment started to change. The floor was getting flat, the walls were turning smooth and for the first time, he saw a man-made light on the wall.
His way to the golem territory had become a huge hallway.
"This isn’t naturally formed. This is made by something that has intelligence. There is no way a monster can make something like this."
Viktor looked above and saw ancient texts written all over the ceiling. He read all the texts and realised it was an ancient colony that lived below the ground approximately 2 or 3 thousand years ago. They were neither human nor demon. They were people made of sand and fire who looked like mountain trolls.
"This is interesting. I’ve read an ancient guardian’s record about this. He said there was a lost civilization that lived underground like ants somewhere on an unknown planet. The god he used to follow said it was a being that didn’t need to eat or sleep. They were nearly immortal and they were so huge. If they were to compare with humans in size, they’d look like a mountain beside an adult human.
Not only that, they were skilled earth magicians and they had advantaged technology just as humans. But they couldn’t save their race because of the demonic aura. It was very poisonous to them and since they were only a handful of their race, they wiped out pretty soon after they became sick.
Now, they walk around the lost labyrinth as monsters, waiting to find someone who can end their life and release their soul from their body.
"They are all trapped there, suffering from pain. But they won’t just let me kill them because their body is controlled by a core made from demonic aura. It will try its best to defend itself from getting hurt. Not to mention, they are nearly immortal so they will be very hard to kill."
Viktor looked at the other part of the ceiling to read the rest of the texts and then, he heard a noise.
’I am sure I heard a pebble hitting the floor. Did they notice my presence?"
At that moment, Viktor’s whole body warned him and he quickly jumped to grab the lightbulb of the ceiling. He then looked below and saw the floor had disappeared. It looked as If a huge dragon had scratched the floor with its sharp nail. There was no sign of any attacker around him.
’What was that just now? Nail marks? But I can’t sense anything around me... I didn’t notice any traps in this hallway with my mana.’
He then looked back and saw there was a small shiny object stuck to the corner of the ceiling. But it was far away from him so he pointed his finger at it and created a small wind needle.
’I can’t afford to lose my life here.’
The needle pierced through the shiny object and created an electric spark. At that moment, all the invisible traps inside the hallway became visible.
He looked below and saw there was a magic trap right below his head. If he were 1 second late, he’d lose his head.
Viktor laughed at the trap and said, "What a crazy day, now I’m not sleepy at all. No matter who installed the tarp, I swear I will find you and put you in my blank room for a hundred years, bastard..."
*Congratulations on figuring out the trap switch and avoiding an unavoidable attack. You’ve gained a new title.
’Battle Foresight Lv1.’
’Helps the host to see 1 second into the future in front of his opponents and sneak attacks. It won’t work unless the host’s life is in danger.*
"That’s good then. 1 second is enough to run away."
He then came back to the ground but this time, he landed on his staff instead of the floor. There was no way of knowing what might happen so he decided not to step on the floor until he dealt with the golems.
"Such a pain in the a**. Well, I’ve been waking for almost 4 hours so I will just sit back and let my staff carry me into their home. But my butt hurts..should I install a chair on it? No, it will look so weird if I do that-_-."
Meanwhile In Helsia, The palace or Kobayashi ...
Adonis’ POV:
’It’s been a year since I last saw my master. I wonder what he is up to. The connection between us has grown stronger than before. I can feel my master has become stronger but for some reason, why do I feel like he is sleeping? He is surely getting stronger but how?’
Adonis walked out of his bath and saw Welis standing in front of the door. "Sir Adonis, here is your ice tea."
"You’re doing your job like a professional now. Did something happen?"
"Sir Adonis is a demigod now. He’s on stage 3, almost on his way to reach the next stage. Compared to the others, you’re growing so quickly. It’s just a matter of time before you become a god."
"You didn’t answer my question properly, Welis."
"I apologize. What I am trying to say is, you are a respected demigod. How can I not show my respect? The servants of lord Kobayashi are professionals. So it was hurting my pride a little bit. I wanted to show you my respect as well as the others. I want to become like you. I want to treat you as you treat lord Viktor."
Adonis chuckled and said, "That is a good determination you have. But you have a long way to go before you reach my level. Good luck, kid."
Adonis patted her head and again said, "When my master comes back, make sure to prepare a glass of cold lemon juice after he gets out of the bath. He loves to drink it after a cold shower."
"Yes sir..."
"And yes, did you collect what I asked for?"
"Yes, since the three of you went to the different sections of the house, Lord Kobayashi has set a barrier around it. So I tried to get some information about Mors and Ifrit. The servants said they are also working so hard to reach the 2nd stage. Lord Kobayashi said they are doing as he expected. It’s just you who’s growing abnormally. Reaching 2 stages in just a year is something not even a talented god can do."
"You won’t believe it if I say it but, my master has already reached the 3rd stage way before me. I can feel it in my heart. If he gains a little more energy, he will reach the next stage in no time."
"That’s great news. But I have something else to report too."
Adonis wore his shirt to get ready for his training and looked at her to ask what it was. He was curious but his eyes were so scary that Welis had to step back a little.
"Name, the god of name’s servants has arrived in Helsia. They are here with tons of letters."
"Name is finally making his move. He will send letters to those he was able to draw a manipulation magic circle on their body. I don’t know how many gods will be under his control. But we need to make sure if Lord Kobayashi is one of them or not. We aren’t strong enough to survive in the realms of heaven yet."
Welis nodded her head and said, "Should I investigate this matter thoroughly?"
"Just watch over those servants. Don’t approach them. Just check where those letters are going. Servants can only enter Helsia, they can’t go to the upper realm without any upper-rank gods’ permission."
"Understood."
Adonis smirked and mumbled, ’Let’s see how far his hands can reach. If they are too long, I’m afraid I’ll have to cut them for the safety of my master. I can’t let Name do whatever he wants before my master comes back."
