Chapter 207: Money
’I forgot that I have a tiny inventory and my dimension rooms are restricted by the tower system...’
Viktor sat on a huge boulder inside the dark gold mine and kept thinking about his idiotic decision. He went inside the mine an hour ago and started to collect ores. But after he started stocking inside his inventory, he realised that he was low on space and he needed to level up to increase the storage capacity.
He looked at the ceiling of the dark cave and said, ’I wonder how long it’s going to take me to level up.’
Suddenly, he heard a sound from the narrow path behind him. He was sitting on a boulder so he had to lean down to check where the sound came from.
There were two narrow paths in front of him which were formed naturally. There was no sign of any people entering so he assumed that it must be a monster’s cave. Since the person who discovered it said that he found it while hunting, there was no doubt that it was a dungeon. The place was clean because he had hunted the cave clean.
’Hm... should I try levelling up while I’m on my mission?’
Viktor jumped from the boulder and stood on his floating staff by balancing perfectly.
’I can’t make any sound while entering the cave. Who knows what kind of monster is waiting in there? I can’t afford to lose my life on my second day here. Or Mors will laugh at my dead body.’
Viktor slowly moved forward inside the narrow pathway. The floor wasn’t in good condition for walking so he thought, ’It’s a good thing that I can use my staff as a floating broom of a witch.’
He then looked around after entering a chamber and then, a cold wave of needles started to pierce all over his body. He stepped inside a place where he shouldn’t have.
Usually, animals and monsters don’t see gods, demigods, guardians or any type of spiritual beings who control nature as an enemy. They worship them and they are so loyal that they are always ready to sacrifice themselves for them. But Viktor was in a different body and his divine core was restricted by the tower system, he was an ordinary person in front of mortals and monsters.
’I fu*eked up pretty bad this time...’
He looked to his left without moving his head and saw a huge lizard smelling him. His long purple snake-like tongue was about to touch Viktor’s face and then, it fell off.
Viktor sliced it without using any blade but the air.
Keeeee!!!!!!!!
The lizard started to throw a tantrum in the small chamber so the walls and the ceiling started to break. Viktor rushed out of the place by holding his staff tight as if his life was on the line. He immediately came out of the cave and floated about 100 meters above the ground.
"That was so damn close!! That monster is above level 20. And I’m only level 3. Now, the question is... is it going to come outside by following my smell or not?"
Right after a second, a loud noise came out of the cave and the lizard came out running. Its mouth was caring for the body of a miner.
The other people who were working there rushed at the lizard with their swords and the magicians formed a group to attack the lizard using fire and earth attack spells.
Viktor watched them fight with the lizard for some time and then said, "It’s a good thing that I didn’t use my mana to fight it. My mana is very important and I can’t use it for fighting an opponent stronger than me."
Suddenly, his staff lost its balance and started to act like an old engine of a car.
"It looks like my staff is at its limit. I need to buy a good one tomorrow."
He looked below and saw the knight jumping at the lizard to attack. His silver sword reflected the light of the moon and it fell on Viktor’s face for a second. The sword was so powerful that it went through the lizard’s neck like butter.
He then looked above and saw the silver moon shining in the clear sky. His hunch was telling him that someone was watching him but sadly, he found nobody.
"I swear I need to fly higher. I need to buy a new staff as soon as possible because I am not getting a good vibe from that knight. Moreover, I need to level up soon.."
He flew away quickly on his jamming staff and went to the guild to report something. Since he couldn’t enjoy the wealth, he was planning to sell the information to the black guild so nobody can enjoy it as well. Not even the king.
It took him almost 40 minutes to reach the guild because of his staff and finally, it turned into dust.
"Ah... thank goodness that I came here without wasting a single minute..."
He walked inside the guild after showing his ID and then said to the receptionist. "I wish to update this quest’s information. I have found some important information while investigating. How much can you give me?"
The lady said, "It’s midnight, kid. And you can’t sell any information without any evidence."
Viktor took out an ore of dark gold from his pocket and said, "Is this enough evidence?"
"Young boy, you’re lucky because the receptionist is secured with a magic barrier. Or else, those boys would eat you alive. This is dark gold, a rare material that can be turned into the world’s toughest weapon. Having a weapon made of this material is like walking around with a bomb inside your pocket. May I ask what is the connection with this search quest?"
At that moment, a blue-haired man walked in and said, "Stop it, kid. Let’s have a chat inside. You must be thirsty. Let’s have a cup of tea."
Viktor looked at his face and nodded his head without answering his question. He followed the man inside a luxurious room and took a seat in front of a table filled with sweets.
"Welcome to my home, I am Jeo, the guild master of this black guild. Also, I’m the 3rd prince of this nation."
"So you are okay with relieving this important info to me? We just met, you know."
"Don’t worry brother Viktor, we are all adventurers after all."
Viktor smirked and took off his mask. "It is really useless to wear a mask in front of you then. I’m not surprised at all."
Jeo smiled and said, "Hum? It’s my first time seeing someone very calm in front of me and talking without any formalities even after hearing that I am a prince."
"We are both adventurers, why should I show respect? We are brothers after all."
Jeo burst into laughter and said, "You are very funny. I like you."
"I’m sorry but I’m interested in women."
"No.. I didn’t mean it like that.."
Viktor then looked at Jeo with his straight eyes and took off his hoodies. "I wonder." He smirked and put the ore on the table.
"This is a dark gold ore. The lord has discovered a mine in his territory and your father is trying to take over the place by accusing him of stealing the holy grail. Your guild member was just a helper in his plan. They stole the holy grail when the fake merchant was coming into town. I believe the knight is reasonable for their disappearance after the holy grail was moved.
I don’t even know if the holy grail matter is real or not, but I’m sure your father is trying to execute the Lord and give the land to the crown prince so he can take advantage of it. Now the question is, how much are you going to pay me? I worked so hard to gain this info and took some samples."
Jeo was stunned to hear what was going on. He knew something was going on inside the royal family but this was out of his imagination.
So he said, "If my father kills that lord, the other kingdom might look into this matter. If they found out about the mind. We are dead meat. This country is done for good."
He rubbed his fingers through his silky blue hair and said, "I don’t really care about those bandits now. My priority is to stop the mining work at any cost."
"Stop the mining work you say? It will be a great source of income you know.."
"No, our country doesn’t have skilled blacksmiths that can produce good weapons. The dwarf race left the land after the country was divided into two. Only a handful of dwarfs are here but I don’t think they are that skilled enough to mass produce weapons."
"So you are a beggar with a shiny diamond in your pocket...I don’t care about political matters. All I need is money and a good a staff. If you can provide me with these two, I can shut down that mine."
Jeo looked at the ore and said, "You can get 100 gold coins from this. And a good staff will cost you 70 gold coins. So how about taking this ore to the dwarf’s weapon shop? He can make a good staff and also you can sell the rest of the materials at a fair price. And about the information, I’ll pay you 200 gold."
Viktor’s mind went blank after he heard that he would get 200 gold coins for the information. He was left speechless.
