Seeing Xu Yisen’s dejected expression, Qin Muni couldn’t help but laugh. She turned to the old doctor who was teasing Xu Yisen and said, "We’re not locals, we want to stay here for the night."

"I understand, I understand. You’re hurt when I tease your husband. Just follow this street straight to the end, turn right, and there’s a hotel."

"Okay, thank you."

"Uh-huh, take good care of yourself."

After leaving the clinic and getting on the car, Xu Yisen asked Tang Haoliang to buy some pumpkin porridge from the porridge shop recommended by the old doctor.

When Tang Haoliang came out of the shop, Qin Muni stared at his side profile and mischievously asked, "Secretary Tang, are the girls working in that porridge shop pretty?"

Tang Haoliang had also been in the clinic earlier, so he knew Qin Muni was intentionally teasing him. He looked a bit embarrassed but honestly replied, "Not as pretty as my wife."

Xu Yisen gently patted her back to soothe her and then handed her a bottle of water, "Your throat is so swollen, you should talk less."

Qin Muni coughed vigorously, and after a few coughs, her face was flushed red.

When she finally managed to stop coughing, she immediately took the bottle Yisen handed her, raised her head, and drank the water in large gulps, casually responding, "Oh."

The car drove for nearly ten minutes before reaching the end of the street. After turning right, there stood a nine-story hotel.

Tang Haoliang booked three deluxe rooms, with Qin Muni’s room next to Xu Yisen, and Tang Haoliang’s room opposite Xu Yisen’s.

The hotel conditions were much better than the family inn in River Village, at least there was heating in the room and the bedding was clean.

After eating the porridge and taking her medicine, Qin Muni changed into her pajamas and immediately collapsed onto the bed.

Xu Yisen went to the bathroom, wrung a clean towel in cold water, and placed it on her forehead when he returned to the room. Then, he sat on the armchair by the window and stayed there.

Qin Muni originally wanted to urge him to go back to his own room, but after taking the medicine, it felt like all her energy had been drained; she felt completely limp, so she decided to ignore Xu Yisen, closed her eyes, and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Qin Muni slept soundly, and Xu Yisen went in and out of the room several times without disturbing her.

When she woke up, the night had already fallen outside the window.

Hearing the movement on the bed, Xu Yisen quickly stood up from the sofa, walked to the window, turned on the lamp on the bedside table, then reached out and covered her forehead.

The temperature on her forehead was no longer as scorching as it was in the morning. "The fever has subsided. Is your throat still sore?"

Qin Muni nodded.

"Is your head still hurting?"

Qin Muni nodded again.

"Will you still make such a capricious decision to go out next time?"

Lying in bed, Qin Muni’s eyes glistening with moisture had a slight haze due to just waking up. She stared at Xu Yisen’s face, her gaze holding some sluggishness.

After several seconds, she finally detected the mild reproach in his words.

She didn’t answer Xu Yisen, blinked, and weakly said, "I’m hungry."

Worried that she might be thirsty upon waking, Xu Yisen had already boiled hot water in the kettle. Therefore, he walked to the table to pour a cup of water, and while walking back to the bed, he responded to her, "Secretary Tang went to buy dinner. He should be back soon. Do you want some water?"
