The Arrogant Immortal -
Chapter 381 - 380: Sneaking into Medical Immortal Valley
Chapter 381: Chapter 380: Sneaking into Medical Immortal Valley
The moment she entered the Maze Array.
Although the surroundings seemed unchanged, the reality had already shifted; the forest before her remained, yet it was not the same. What one’s eyes perceive is not always the truth, for discernment requires observing and feeling with the heart.
The scenery in the woods was a mix of real and illusory.
A slight misstep could reveal one’s whereabouts.
If it were an ordinary Maze Array, it wouldn’t pose an obstacle for Xie Jiuniang. However, the protection laid out around the periphery of the Medical Immortal Valley had tightened compared to before. Besides deploying formations, traps and mechanisms had also been arranged.
Furthermore, a secondary measure was hidden.
Which involved a pack of Demon Hounds.
The noses of these Demon Hounds were extremely sensitive; they could detect a foreign presence within a certain range immediately.
"Cannot touch anything, cannot set foot on the ground, cannot fly higher than eight feet, cannot reveal one’s figure..."
Xie Jiuniang committed several prohibitions to memory.
In her foresight, touching any real object within the formation could alert the guard, including placing one’s feet on the ground.
Above eight feet were forbidden skies.
With her feet standing on the blade, Xie Jiuniang concealed her form and restrained her aura. Not a trace of spiritual energy leaked out as she had Broken Sword fly just above the ground, also disguised to resemble an ordinary Flying Sword.
"Master of dogs, look at me, impressive, right?"
The Sword Spirit Jian Lingyan was both proud and excited.
From the resources recently obtained, Xie Jiuniang allocated a share of Spirit Stones to the Sword Spirit. It wasn’t anything special initially, but surprisingly, after absorbing them, the damn thing learned new abilities.
It could now cloak and remain unseen automatically.
This, of course, made Sword Spirit Jian Lingyan unbearably smug.
A person and a sword moved through the periphery without a sound.
This was the best strategy she had deduced from multiple foresights.
Once through the maze forest, and half a mile more, one would reach the entrance to the Medical Immortal Valley, which was tantamount to its sect gate.
At the entrance of the Medical Immortal Valley, there naturally had to be some construction, the most conspicuous being a paved road of blue stone slabs that led directly into the Medical Immortal Valley.
Surrounding the blue stone road, flowers were in full bloom.
Catching the eye were various flowers, vying for beauty and brilliance.
At the entrance sat a Nascent Soul.
But Xie Jiuniang’s hiding technique was such that not even the common Divinity Transformations could notice her; what to speak of Nascent Souls?
Therefore, she chose the most conspicuous route.
Bright and clear, she moved invisibly straight down the middle.
That was the safest route available, for the sides of the blue stone path were far from simple. In her foresight, Xie Jiuniang had tried walking through several times, only to find herself inexplicably fainting and then dying not long after.
Not even Xie Jiuniang could understand how she died.
During one foresight, in a resigned manner, she walked directly down the blue stone path, only to unexpectedly make it across!
Xie Jiuniang infiltrated the Medical Immortal Valley strictly according to the timing and method predicted by her foresight.
And so, she successfully sneaked into the valley’s interior.
Here lay a cluster of buildings, likely residential quarters, comparable in size to a town. The Mo Family wasn’t as prosperous as it used to be, but it still commanded respect.
"Inside the central building lies a treasury. There are two medicinal gardens to the west, and a Spiritual Fruit Garden to the east..." Sword Spirit Jian Lingyan recited the resource locations of the Mo Family to Xie Jiuniang.
Xie Jiuniang said, "This time, we didn’t come to plunder the Mo Family, but to acquire the premium Soul-Nourishing Wooden."
The items laid out in the open were just for show, a distraction. The real treasures were not located here.
According to the investigation, they were all in the Mo Family’s secret realm.
This reminded Xie Jiuniang of her own sect’s secret realm, which was a small Secret Realm.
The Mo Family had guarded the Medical Immortal Valley for tens of thousands of years, and their secret was certainly not a trivial one.
Xie Jiuniang continued to sneak deeper into the valley. The farther she went, the tighter the security, and even a short distance took her considerable time, but fortunately, she was not lacking in patience.
She infiltrated slowly, step by step.
Whenever she encountered a guard, she would promptly avoid and lie in wait.
The traps and mechanisms all around were also skillfully evaded by her, each timing seized with great precision. Often it came down to a mere moment’s error, all of which she captured.
Sword Spirit Jian Lingyan reminded, "Ahead there are Demonic Plants."
"Domesticated?" Xie Jiuniang asked.
"Isn’t that obvious? Are there any wild ones within Medical Immortal Valley?" Jian Lingyan retorted sarcastically.
Xie Jiuniang’s question was a slip of the tongue.
Having foreseen this Osmanthus Grove, she knew it indeed harbored Demonic Plants, albeit not many. Just like with the Maze Array, as long as she didn’t touch any of the vegetation, she could pass through safely.
Right at that moment, a patrol of guards arrived.
Once they were past, Xie Jiuniang swiftly seized the opportunity to dart into the Osmanthus Grove, her feet never touching the ground, instead stepping on the Broken Sword.
That patrol of guards who had just passed by.
The head guard suddenly halted, casting a puzzled glance behind him and patting his Spiritual Beast Bag at his waist, "Did any of you notice anything unusual just now?"
"Nothing at all, Captain. Did you spot something?"
"I didn’t notice anything either. Should we go back and check it out?"
"You two stand out, go back and check again. Be meticulous and don’t overlook anything," the guard captain ordered two guards, directing them to turn back for inspection.
But upon checking, they found nothing amiss.
And yet another patrol was already on their way.
However, these guards were only inspecting outside the Osmanthus Grove, not inside.
The division of labor was quite clear, as the inside of the Osmanthus Grove was not the guards’ responsibility.
After entering the Osmanthus Grove,
Xie Jiuniang carefully avoided touching the plants, not even daring to disturb a single leaf.
She was thankful it was night, affording her natural concealment.
The wind ruffled the leaves, rustling softly.
This was the only sound within the Osmanthus Grove, which in itself wasn’t normal, but considering this was a barrier set by the Mo Family, it didn’t seem too odd.
"This place doesn’t seem that dangerous, look how tense you are—" Jian Lingyan was just about to tease Xie Jiuniang.
Suddenly, he caught sight of a rabbit that had blundered into the grove.
The instant the rabbit entered, a slender root shot out from the ground, piercing through the rabbit’s body, and in a swift motion, dragged the carcass underground.
Jian Lingyan, "..."
No longer daring to make a sound.
It’s better for the dog’s owner to be cautious.
Tiptoeing carefully through the Osmanthus Grove, she was relieved not to have disturbed any of the Demonic Plants.
Passing through, she found herself in another world.
In the distance, tall cliffs and rock walls had been hollowed out into numerous cave dwellings, forming a crescent moon shape, creating a semi-encircled topology, with dozens of Law Houses on the ground.
Between the Law Houses ran winding stone paths.
The weeds had been cleared, and in their place grew a variety of ornamental yet medicinal plants.
The Spiritual Energy here was denser than on the other side of the Osmanthus Grove.
Most notably, despite it being night, this place was ablaze with lights, as bright as day.
Xie Jiuniang lay hidden outside the Osmanthus Grove, not daring to move.
Jian Lingyan asked curiously, "Why aren’t you moving? Is there danger in your foresight here? But I can’t detect any danger."
"Idiot!"
The most dangerous element here were those lights.
They could cast shadows of anything, and even for an invisible cultivator, a shadow would appear on the ground under the light. It would be fine if she didn’t move, but any movement would immediately be detected.
So that was why Xie Jiuniang didn’t dare to stir, nor dared to leak even a hint of Spiritual Energy.
