Chapter 608: Chapter 608 Setting the Tone

Ji Yang emerged, and everyone had been waiting for quite a while.

However, nobody dared to express any complaints; they all appeared very respectful.

When Ji Yang walked over and sat down, the hall instantly fell silent.

Looking around at everyone, Ji Yang said, "Some of you here today are old acquaintances and some are unfamiliar faces. How about everyone introduces themselves?"

Le Qin was quick to respond, "Let me first introduce you to the situation on my end."

There were no objections from the crowd; after all, no matter what, Le Qin had always been at the forefront, and although something had gone wrong this time, Ji Yang did not seem to be blaming him.

Le Qin then introduced some of his subordinates, including a few who had been promoted recently after having killed his brother-in-law.

Ji Yang glanced at these individuals, sensed their thoughts, nodded slightly, and said, "Not bad."

In this place, even if Ji Yang wanted to be modest, he couldn’t; he simply had to project his authority.

During the subsequent time, one by one, everyone introduced themselves and presented the newcomers.

After everyone had finished with their introductions, Ji Yang looked at the crowd and said, "You should all be aware of the situation here. Various forces are stirring up trouble, and some foreign powers have also entered. You all must have had some contact with different people, right?"

When he asked this question, Ji Yang paused for a moment.

The hall became quiet at this moment; everyone knew their own dealings. Because Ji Yang had not been present, they had all interacted with various forces. If Ji Yang were to take issue with it, who knew what the consequences would be.

After a moment of silence, Ji Yang smiled and said, "I don’t mind who you have contacted; if you can get their support, that is quite good. Although you have many people under your command, they are just scattered troops. If you really had to send them into battle, I suspect they would collapse at the first artillery strike."

His words made some in the gathering blush; there was some truth to Ji Yang’s words, and they knew their own situation well. They might have the numbers, but in a real fight, they were far less capable compared to a regular army.

Ji Yang continued, "I heard some of you have also been helped by foreign forces with some training."

This made the crowd even less inclined to speak. His words were difficult to respond to; to admit their cooperation meant betraying Ji Yang, didn’t it?

Ji Yang said, "This really isn’t a big deal. If you can develop your own strength, that’s not a bad thing."

Now everyone looked towards Ji Yang, somewhat unclear about his intentions.

At this point, Le Qin said, "Mr. Ji, we have been without your guidance and weren’t sure what to do. Thinking that with some support and help, our people would grow, we acted rashly. Now I realize my mistake and have dealt with those who had other ideas. Now that you are here, we will have direction."

As soon as Le Qin said this, everyone else hastened to express their willingness to follow Ji Yang’s command.

Ji Yang smiled and said, "I don’t want to meddle too much in what you have done. Of course, if anyone finds me displeasing, feel free to come and assassinate me."

The crowd once again fell silent. Everyone was aware of the incident with Le Qin’s brother-in-law; who could kill Ji Yang?

Moreover, if someone truly did kill Ji Yang now, they would most likely unite under the banner of avenging him—and that would lead to bloodshed.

"Mr. Ji, I assure you that such a thing will not happen again," Le Qin said, sweating.

Ji Yang smiled and said, "I am somewhat aware of your situation, Le Qin. Although you have made some mistakes, they aren’t anything serious. This way, we can also see who amongst us is truly committed."

"Yes, yes, you understand me Mr. Ji."

Le Qin breathed a sigh of relief at this moment. From Ji Yang’s words, he could tell that Ji Yang did not wish to dwell on the matter anymore; this meant he had passed the test.

Relieved, Le Qin realized his rapid change of attitude had been the right move; Ji Yang had seen his commitment.

Ji Yang’s gaze swept over everyone, and after a while, he said, "Alright, everyone is aware of the telefraud issue that has angered our country, Hua Country. The higher-ups have decided to deal with this matter firmly, and I do not want to see anyone who does not understand the situation clearly."

This was setting the tone!

Everyone understood that although Ji Yang spoke indifferently, by him stating such a sentence, he conveyed his stance—everyone was to follow his lead closely or, in other words, to cooperate with Hua Country.

After a brief pause, Ji Yang added, "Currently, there are various armed groups in control of certain areas, which is detrimental to Myanmar’s economic development. It’s a joke when a mere few hundred people declare themselves a military force."

Everyone laughed, and it really was just like that—a derisive view of those armed groups.

"Your next step should be to unite. Unity will ensure no one messes with you; if you have the strength to take down a power and expand your territory, I would be very pleased."

Now everyone’s eyes sparkled even brighter; Ji Yang had not limited their expansion. Previously, they only had a small area, but now Ji Yang clearly stated that if they could seize territory on their own and follow his lead, he would not object.

This was indeed a good thing!
