Chu Shuyuan said, "Let’s go see Uncle Lu first."

This form of address was somewhat chaotic!

Ji Yang didn’t bother with these formalities and followed them inside.

Upon entering the backyard, Ji Yang could smell the strong scent of traditional Chinese medicine.

The woman led the two into a room while speaking.

"Good, take a look at Old Lu for us; his situation isn’t great."

Ji Yang looked at the various medical devices and asked, "Why isn’t he in the hospital?"

"My father insisted on coming home. He said the hospital would treat him the same way and that his condition is incurable as it stands."

Ji Yang held his peace, glancing at the other people in the room and then back at the old man.

The elderly man was very thin, almost all skin and bones, and although he was conscious, his eyes were unmistakably listless.

"I do have some medical knowledge, but I don’t guarantee cures for all diseases. I can try, but please forgive me if it doesn’t work." Ji Yang felt he had to clarify his capabilities.

The head of the family chuckled bitterly, "Comrade Ji Yang, we’re aware of your situation. We asked you to come here in the hope that you could offer treatment. Given my father’s condition, whether he is treated or not will make little difference. Please feel free to examine him without worry."
