Ji Yang had just entered his office when he summoned Wei Caiqun, the head of the government office.

This woman was quite charming, in her forties, and it was clear that she had been a beauty in her youth.

Ji Yang did not know whose connection she was, but he had learned from Cao Li that this woman was very adept at handling affairs; she had retained her position as head of the government office under several leaders without being shaken.

"Mayor Ji, did you want to see me?" her voice was quite pleasant to hear.

Ji Yang smiled and said, "About the candidates you suggested last time, I’ve thought it over. Let’s have Comrade Wu Zhicheng serve as the secretary and Comrade Liu Yonggang as the driver."

"Okay." Wei Caiqun clearly paused for a moment but quickly agreed.

Ji Yang’s secretary and driver were positions he had to decide on himself. Wei Caiqun had indeed provided a list, but he had not made a decision until today, and she had not expected him to choose those two.

Ji Yang did not say much more. Both individuals had been vetted by Cao Li and her team. Wu Zhicheng had previously been a secretary for a mayor, but unfortunately, that mayor had suddenly fallen ill and died. After that, he worked for a vice-mayor who got caught up in a corruption scandal. Although Wu Zhicheng himself was not implicated, no one dared to employ him again, and he had been left to sit on the sidelines.

Ji Yang, however, knew that the man was actually quite capable; it was just bad luck.

What Ji Yang valued most was his high level of loyalty and that he would not betray his leader on a whim.

Before finding a suitable person, Ji Yang did not mind giving him a chance to see if he could seize it properly.

As for Liu Yonggang, he was a former military man with good physical skills. Furthermore, he was a retired special forces soldier with various security capabilities. However, he too had suffered from bad luck, relegated to a desk job in the car fleet, driving standard service vehicles that anyone could use.

Ji Yang was not bothered by these issues, as it was just a matter of casually employing the two men.

Wei Caiqun was also secretly guessing about Ji Yang’s situation. From her observations, Ji Yang had not tried to gather supporters or build his own power base, yet he had decided to employ these two individuals.

From this decision, Wei Caiqun felt that Ji Yang was probably not as simple as he seemed on the surface.

After arranging these matters, the two men were quickly called over.

Wu Zhicheng was clearly still confused about the situation and appeared very excited.

He had never been heavily relied upon before, and despite his abilities, he never expected Ji Yang to specifically name him as his secretary.

As for Ji Yang, Wu Zhicheng had studied him in secret. Looking at the quite steady Liu Yonggang, Ji Yang was even more satisfied. A driver didn’t need to have many thoughts; as long as he worked devotedly, that was enough. Liu Yonggang also seemed to be a man of few words, and as for what kind of person he would be, Ji Yang thought he would observe slowly.

After talking with the two men, they officially began assisting Ji Yang in his service.
