Chapter 526: Chapter 526: Ended Before It Even Started
Le Qin was unaware that as they were discussing affairs here, in a project department where Kanman was located, a room was filled with several people, all of whom exhibited a grave demeanor.
The leader, a middle-aged man named Gu Juetun, looked around at those present and said, "Our force has developed under Mr. Ji’s support all this time. Kanman’s current desire to betray Mr. Ji is a disgraceful act!"
Everyone exchanged glances; deep down, they all understood the shockwave that had been sent through their ranks by the news from the Redstone Army. Nobody had expected such a formidable force to be obliterated in an instant by Ji Yang’s three hundred men.
Three hundred men, it was commonly known, would not have been enough to end things so swiftly had someone not killed the high-ranking officers in that army and the special forces sent by the West.
That mysterious individual must have been Ji Yang.
Ji Yang was that powerful!
After learning this information, a subtle shift occurred within Kanman’s forces. Those who opposed Kanman naturally seized this opportunity, and Gu Juetun was one of them.
Gu Juetun, sensing the hesitation among the others, continued, "Now that the Redstone Army is finished, Mr. Ji has control over their troops. With Le Qin and at least eight other factions on his side, what do you think we can do?"
Indeed!
They all understood the inevitable outcome; otherwise, they wouldn’t have gathered here.
Gu Juetun said, "As for me, I am firmly on Mr. Ji’s side. You all make your choice, but bear in mind, time is short. I reckon Le Qin and the others are currently considering launching an attack on us, and when that happens, we’ll be facing a dead end."
"We are willing to follow you."
"Good, I do have some people at my disposal, and they are also willing to follow you."
Gu Juetun said, "Excellent, we will swiftly kill Kanman and then report to Mr. Ji; I believe he will forgive us."
After further discussion, they all went their separate ways to carry out their actions.
Unexpectedly to Gu Juetun and his cohort, Kanman’s subordinates had also sensed the crisis. A simple persuasion was all it took for those men to declare their allegiance to him.
Thus, when they arrived at Kanman’s room, they were met with a completely uncomposed Kanman.
Since learning of the Redstone Army’s defeat, Kanman had locked himself away in this room. He knew he was finished and was consumed by extreme regret.
Kanman had thought of fleeing and was preparing to do so, but before he could act, his own men had surrounded him.
Seeing Gu Juetun taking the lead, Kanman let out a bitter laugh, "I didn’t expect it to end like this!"
"Kanman, you’ve forgotten who led us to this point. Your betrayal disgusts us," someone said loudly.
"Indeed, you were blinded by money. We stand firmly with Mr. Ji."
Kanman replied, "What’s done is done; there’s nothing left to say. Just don’t harm my family." As he finished speaking, Kanman drew a handgun.
Everyone immediately went on alert.
However, Kanman aimed the gun at his own temple.
A gunshot rang out and Kanman had taken his own life.
Gu Juetun turned to the others and said, "Kanman is dead. I will immediately report the situation to Mr. Ji and wait for his decision."
Naturally, no one opposed. They knew that Ji Yang’s response would now determine their fate.
It was only then that they deeply felt the extent of Ji Yang’s control over the situation here.
Gu Juetun began dialing Ji Yang’s number.
