Ji Yang had not expected that as soon as he charged over, one of the men would start shouting loudly there.
Upon hearing, they were actually proposing to surrender.
This caught Ji Yang somewhat off guard.
"Drop your weapons, or be killed!"
Ji Yang, who also spoke Burmese, shouted in a loud voice.
While speaking, Ji Yang did not relax his vigilance, his Divine Sense scanning the surroundings.
In truth, after a fierce battle with the people in the camp, there were only about thirty standing, thoroughly intimidated by Ji Yang’s strength. He alone had taken down their dozens-strong camp which they believed could not be rivaled, and if Ji Yang were to truly kill his way over now, not one of them would survive.
The man leading them was called Le Qin, a somewhat intelligent individual aware that surrender was their only option.
Upon hearing Ji Yang’s words, Le Qin immediately dropped his weapon and loudly commanded the people behind him to do the same.
Even if he hadn’t shouted, the others were already terrified, quickly laying down their weapons and stepping forward.
After scanning again, Ji Yang approached.
"You’re from Hua Country, right? My name is Le Qin, the leader of the Liberation Front Army."
"How many are with you?"
Le Qin gestured to the people and corpses, "These are all we have left. Originally we were one hundred and twenty people, now only thirty-one remain."
This...
Ji Yang was somewhat lost for words; such a small faction had nearly been wiped out by him.
"How did you end up fighting with them?" This puzzled Ji Yang.
"They captured some of our people, so we came to rescue them. We thought they were just some armed group, not expecting them to be so powerful!"
At this point, Le Qin let out a bitter laugh. It was indeed an intelligence failure; they hadn’t expected such a formidable military force to appear here so suddenly.
Ji Yang didn’t wish to probe further, surmising that these were merely a mix of individuals with virtually no intelligence on their side. They had launched an attack without a clear understanding of the situation and had been almost annihilated by their opponents. If not for his arrival, they would likely all have perished here.
Looking again at the thirty-plus individuals, it was obvious they were all in low spirits.
While Ji Yang was contemplating, Le Qin suddenly addressed him, "We know you have many investments in our country and need people to help with things. Can we work for you?"
Ji Yang hadn’t really considered this angle and was momentarily taken aback.
Turning to the others, Ji Yang asked, "Is this the wish of all of you?"
Le Qin said, "These people are loyal to me. Whatever I suggest, they will follow. We are willing to submit to your leadership."
Actually, Le Qin had realized that with his small band of followers, there was little chance of significant progress. No armed force could grow without the backing of a major power. If his forces could be supported by someone from Hua Country, everything would change. Previously, without such a connection, there had been no opportunity, but now, seeing Ji Yang’s strength and recalling he was from Hua Country, Le Qin’s mind raced with possibilities.
Seeing Ji Yang deep in thought, Le Qin quickly said, "My power may not be strong, but I’m very familiar with the situation here. Moreover, with money and weapons, I can quickly rebuild our former strength."
Ji Yang thought about his likely inability to leave Myanmar shortly and that he needed some people to help with things. Having these men under his command could indeed be beneficial.
"You’re sure you want to follow me? You must understand the consequences of betraying me," Ji Yang said indifferently to the group.
Confronted with Ji Yang’s gaze, laden with the might of his Divine Sense, many quickly bowed their heads.
Le Qin, however, felt a great relief. He had been fearing he didn’t know whether Ji Yang would kill them too. Now that Ji Yang had agreed to recruit them, their lives were certainly spared.
"We are all willing to follow your leadership, never to betray!"
"Yes, we will all obey you."
"We will not betray."
Everyone stated their position, as if fearing that speaking too slowly would cost them their lives.
"Very well, from now on, you’ll follow my orders. However, outwardly, Le Qin will remain in charge; don’t let anyone know about our relationship. I will also assist you," Ji Yang instructed.
Le Qin, his face beaming with smiles, responded, "We will follow your every command."
"Send someone to find the two vehicles I’ve concealed down there; there are some weapons and ammunition on them. Also, take the weapons and ammunition here and arm your men. Between us, we’ll just maintain contact," Ji Yang said.
He wanted to test their attitude. If they disobeyed after receiving weapons, it wouldn’t matter too much. His mission was to rescue people, and that would suffice. But if they were willing to follow his lead, he could offer them greater opportunities for development.
