Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Liu Piaoxue’s Abilities
The cadre meeting was hastily convened, and Ji Yang organized it as everyone arrived.
After the announcements, Wang Shuimin led her people away. Before leaving, she called Ji Yang to a separate office to lay out some developmental demands.
Having seen off Wang Shuimin and others, Ji Yang immediately called for a team meeting.
This time, the city had directly assigned work divisions among team members.
Under Ji Yang’s scrutiny, he further realized their situation—these people weren’t unwilling to work; rather, they were simply the type who knew only how to handle specific tasks. Expecting them to attract investment was impossible. They had no networking resources, and even their mindset seemed outdated.
Fortunately, everyone had their responsibilities and got busy with their respective tasks.
While Ji Yang was contemplating things in his office, Liu Piaoxue walked in.
Although she wasn’t part of the team, Liu Piaoxue was in good spirits. Ji Yang had managed to keep her position secure. As long as nothing went wrong, everything was progressing positively.
Liu Piaoxue was grateful to Ji Yang and determined to follow his lead.
"Leader, here are the profiles of the new leaders," she said.
Liu Piaoxue handed over a sheet of paper covered densely with text—all information about Cao Songxin and others.
Normally, investigating a leader’s background was off-limits, yet Liu Piaoxue had not only done it but also handed it to Ji Yang. This was a clear demonstration of her loyalty to him.
Ji Yang noticed her intention, gave a slight nod, and accepted her gesture without criticism.
Glancing over the paper, he saw it matched the information he had discreetly gathered. They had no influential backers nor someone powerful behind them—it appeared they were randomly picked by the higher-ups. Their resumes showed no accomplishments; their work was neither notably flawed nor outstanding, and their abilities were mediocre.
Ji Yang looked at Liu Piaoxue.
She was clever and quickly caught onto Ji Yang’s thoughts, smiling as she asked, "Leader, do you want to know why the organization has sent them here?"
"Indeed."
Now Ji Yang was more open, having accepted her stance and eager to hear her insights.
"At first, it was puzzling. You would think Chunshui County, being a problem area, would draw serious attention from the organization. Only later did I realize that many leaders don’t have a high opinion of Chunshui County, almost as if they enjoy watching us as a joke."
It was probably due to the crackdown on so many people, which upset some of the leaders!
Ji Yang knew that he couldn’t do much about the situation; if he didn’t act, he might already be the target of manipulation, which he disliked seeing.
Liu Piaoxue’s gaze lingered on Ji Yang, hesitantly saying, "Actually, the reason they’ve transferred some attractive women here is connected to a certain rumor."
"What content?"
"Remember the recent rumors suggesting you’re impotent?"
Ji Yang’s eyes widened in shock, not expecting the rumor to have become so outlandish.
Liu Piaoxue continued, "It’s possible that some leaders, having their own views about Chunshui County, purposefully sent beautiful female leaders to disgust you."
While saying this, she still examined Ji Yang thoroughly. She was equally curious, considering herself to be quite attractive to men, yet her charms had little effect on Ji Yang, which frustrated her.
If Ji Yang was truly impotent or asexual, that might explain it.
Ji Yang began to understand. Liu Piaoxue’s guess was accurate; some did dislike him, and thinking he was asexual, they felt more comfortable placing attractive women around him.
Liu Piaoxue added, "As you’ve seen, it can’t be said that some of them lack backers—those leaders are somewhat their patrons."
Ji Yang had already noticed this; whether divorced or estranged from their husbands, during her investigation, Liu Piaoxue found that they all had connections to certain newly-promoted leaders.
Moreover, they, like Liu Piaoxue, had previously been involved with some leader who was now disgraced, leaving them in an awkward position.
"Additionally, from what we’ve gathered, the leaders don’t seem keen on seeing any significant changes in Chunshui County."
"Hmm, I understand."
Now he had a clearer picture—the reason for not sending competent individuals was to avoid Chunshui County becoming a stepping stone for his own advancement. Instead, they wanted to trap him there.
Some leaders were clear with their intentions; if Ji Yang was so capable, then fine, this time they would match him with less able people. As long as Chunshui County didn’t improve significantly, Ji Yang would always be suppressed in Chunshui County.
