Chapter 245: Chapter 245 Lu Zhiqiang’s Revenge

"Young Master Lu, this Ji Yang has really disrespected you, and disrespecting you is disrespecting Mayor Lu," a flunky said indignantly.

"You’re right, Young Master Lu; wherever you go, you command the wind and summon the rain. This Ji Yang really didn’t show you any respect," another chimed in.

The female secretary also spoke up, clearly unhappy.

Snorting, Lu Zhiqiang said, "He really thinks he’s clean, huh? With this land deal in Wushu Village, I refuse to believe Ji Yang is without fault. I’m making a call right now to have someone look into him!"

True to his word, Lu Zhiqiang immediately called his father.

As a vice-mayor about to step down, Lu Yong’s current plan was to smooth the path for his children after his retirement.

Lu Zhiqiang, his son, always liked making money and the idea of him entering politics was out of the question; hence, for many business actions, Lu Yong let his son take the helm.

Lu Yong, who had seen through people’s hearts, knew everyone’s thoughts too well; it all came down to interests, and as long as the price was right, any matter could be settled.

It was this change in approach that led to Lu Yong’s permissiveness toward his children, and it also enabled Lu Zhiqiang to quickly establish his own leather bag company, becoming a young entrepreneur in the process.

This time, upon hearing that rice wine was making good money, Lu Zhiqiang expressed his desire to get involved, and Lu Yong told him to go directly to Ji Yang. In his view, securing some land with Ji Yang’s help wasn’t a difficult task at all.

Receiving the call from his son, Lu Yong’s expression turned sour; he hadn’t expected Ji Yang to deny him face.

He did know something about Ji Yang, who was said to have risen through the Chu Family’s support, but now that the Chu Family had left the province, even if Ji Yang had some connections, he wouldn’t possibly be able to help him fully.

Even though he knew too much, Lu Yong wasn’t completely clear about Ji Yang’s relationships with people in the provincial government. He assumed that the Chu Family was Ji Yang’s sole backer, and with the Chu Family gone from the province, he felt no need to worry about the forces behind Ji Yang.

As he listened to his son’s account, Lu Yong pondered over a countermove.

"Dad, this is outright disrespect to you. A lot of the land in Wushu Village has been contracted out, and I’ve heard many made a killing. A probe into him is bound to find something!" Lu Zhiqiang said, eager to teach Ji Yang a lesson.

"I understand. Come back first," Lu Yong said, then hung up the phone. After a while, he picked up the phone again and called the leaders of several departments.

As the executive vice-mayor, his subordinates indeed had to follow his orders.

Quickly, a covert investigation team was dispatched.

Not only that, but he also called the leaders of the Public Security Bureau and the Discipline Inspection Commission, mentioning the heavy volume of calls from citizens inquiring about corruption in Wushu Village.

Lu Yong still had his people, and upon receiving his calls, they instantly understood his intentions. Hence, the official investigators also made their way towards Qingyuan Village.

Having set these moves in motion, Lu Yong snorted, thinking he’d like to see how Ji Yang could escape this time. All he needed was to remove Ji Yang, and with his own people in the village, acquiring any amount of land his son wanted would just be a matter of speaking a word.

Lu Yong considered himself lucky, having risen from the county level to become the executive vice-mayor after changes at the top in the city. Although he had backing, he was chosen for the position in hopes of ensuring a smooth transition, and he genuinely did not know some of the deeper-seated issues.

Ji Yang was unaware that he had stirred up such a fuss simply by offending a young master.

The next day, Ji Yang discovered that investigators had come directly from the city, covering various aspects of their work.

Upon their arrival, they immediately stationed themselves in every department within the township, starting an inquiry into all matters concerning Wushu Village.

Receiving the call, Ji Yang’s face fell, and he picked up his cell phone to dial Hu Guomin, the secretary of the county party committee.

Hu Guomin was just as stunned, saying, "The city is investigating you, and I wasn’t informed? I didn’t receive any notice!"

"Fine, I’ll ask the city about it."

Ji Yang, who wasn’t really afraid of those people, then called Municipal Party Secretary Wen Chengming.

Wen Chengming was Deputy Secretary Zhou’s man from the province and thus an influence behind Ji Yang.

Receiving the call, Wen Chengming was a bit shocked, "Are you saying the city sent quite a few people to Qingyuan Village to investigate you all?"

"Mainly, they’re looking into the Wushu Village issue. I called the county, and Secretary Hu said he was unaware and hadn’t been notified. They went straight to our village. Do you know what’s going on? If there’s an issue, I, as the secretary, should know, right? Or could it be targeting me?"

Wen Chengming’s face grew even grimmer, the fact that he wasn’t informed of such a matter pointed to a problem with his control; it seemed like those below him weren’t taking him seriously.
