Chapter 230: Chapter 230 Cao Li

After discussing with the Wu Family Sisters, Ji Yang left Wu Village.

Now, there remained another matter in front of Ji Yang, that was, his money needed someone to manage it.

Ji Yang really couldn’t find suitable personnel, mainly because of trust issues.

If it couldn’t be helped, he would have to manage it himself, it just wasn’t the most appropriate way.

This time he hadn’t asked someone to drive; when Ji Yang was driving back to the countryside himself, he noticed a familiar figure near a small shop ahead.

He stopped the car and as Ji Yang walked up, he indeed saw Cao Li, the former hostel manager.

"Cao Li."

Ji Yang called out.

"Chief Ji!" The woman turned around and exclaimed in surprise when she saw it was Ji Yang.

"Is this your shop?"

Ji Yang looked towards the small shop; it was a tiny space with just some very ordinary items inside.

Looking at Cao Li, the woman had visibly lost much weight, and she looked far too haggard.

Ji Yang grew curious; with Cao Li’s beauty, if she wanted, she would probably find a rich man to rely on, yet she hadn’t done that. What exactly had happened to this woman?

"Chief Ji, please come in."

"Okay."

Ji Yang walked into the small shop.

The inside, cluttered with various items, appeared very narrow.

"Have some water." Cao Li handed a bottle of mineral water to Ji Yang.

After taking a sip, Ji Yang instantly felt much more refreshed and then looked at Cao Li again, "What happened after I left, didn’t you lease the hostel?"

With a sigh, Cao Li said, "Someone else took an interest in the hostel. I had to let it go."

"You have the capability, couldn’t you go develop in the big city?"

Cao Li forced a smile and said, "What capability do I have? I only know about running a hostel. Even if I went to the big city, it wouldn’t be easy, and besides, I don’t want to be like them."

Ji Yang understood her meaning, looked at her again and asked, "How is the shop’s earnings?"

Cao Li immediately fell into a bewildered mood and after a while said, "It’s very hard!"

From those words, Ji Yang could discern a sense of helplessness in her voice.

"What’s the situation at home?"

"They are deep in the mountains, thinking that I am doing well in the village, often asking me for help."

Ji Yang didn’t want to ask further; Cao Li was from a deep mountain area. People in her village always assumed she was living well, and her family kept asking her for money relentlessly. She was a family-oriented person, preferring to starve herself rather than not send money back home, which clearly showed her current circumstances.

Looking inside the shop, Ji Yang could see there weren’t many valuable items; this shop was probably Cao Li’s last stand.

A thought crossed his mind, Ji Yang looked at Cao Li and said, "How about you close the shop? I have a friend who needs someone to handle some matters for him, come and help."

"If it’s your friend, then forget it."

Cao Li responded.

After a while, Cao Li added, "If you want my help, I can do it."

Such a smart person!

Ji Yang realized this woman was not foolish; she must have thought that his friend meant himself.

"Chief Ji, I know some tasks are hard for leaders like you to handle by yourselves. If you think highly of me, I can work for you."

Cao Li looked at Ji Yang.

Having been a hostel manager for so long, she really had seen many things outsiders hadn’t, figuring out a lot at once.

"Why?" Ji Yang asked.

Ji Yang also wanted to see her perspective; if it wasn’t suitable, he would rather not have such help.

"You’re a good person. Since the moment we met, you never looked at me the way others did, and when promoting me, you didn’t ask for anything. I’ve seen too many kinds of people, I trust my own judgment!"

When Ji Yang didn’t speak, she continued, "I also need support, better to rely on someone I’m satisfied with, it’s that simple."

Ji Yang smiled and said, "There is an investment company that now needs a manager to handle specific tasks. There isn’t much to do on a daily basis, just handle the required tasks, and you can rest assured, the compensation will definitely satisfy you."

After watching Ji Yang’s face for a while, Cao Li smiled and said, "If that’s the case, I’m willing, after all, I’m at the end of my rope. I’d be more than happy to be introduced to a job."

"Given your circumstances, further learning is needed. The company has a training program. First, help finish the current task, and then, you will be arranged to attend some training institutions for further education."

Cao Li smiled and said, "I’ll follow your lead."

The two talked for a while longer before ending the discussion.

"I’ll treat you to dinner, I’m pretty good at cooking," Cao Li said with a smile.

"Okay."

The shop was only so large; Cao Li simply closed up and started cooking.

As Ji Yang looked around, he saw the place above the shop where she lived, indicating how tough her life must have been.

Today’s incident was a test for Ji Yang; even if it didn’t work out, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Mainly because Ji Yang really had no one else to rely on, and he still trusted Cao Li. If used properly, she should be able to help him.
