Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Everyone Breathed a Sigh of Relief
"You’re Ji Yang?" On the way back, the girl walked up to Ji Yang and asked.
Covered in grime, with a muddy face and disheveled hair, Ji Yang couldn’t see her features clearly but politely responded.
"You’re so amazing; I’ve never seen anyone as incredible as you, not even the War Kings!"
Another young man of privilege also came over and said, "My name is Hu Chengguo, I’m really indebted to you this time."
"It’s my duty to help, it was nothing."
"No, if it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t know what would have happened. The three of us might have been ok, but those other two would have definitely been goners. We truly owe you for this."
Ji Yang looked at this Hu Chengguo, feeling that the guy wasn’t too bad, and smiled, "You all need to rest up as well."
"Ah, no one expected things to turn out this way. We were just hunting when the rain poured down, followed by a flash flood. The way back was washed out, so we had to find another path, and that’s when we ran into the wild boars. While hunting the boars, we ran out of bullets, and then came the wolves..."
As he recounted the story, Ji Yang began to understand the situation. They’d run out of bullets because of indiscriminate shooting during the wild wolf hunt, and just after they killed the wild pig, the wolves arrived. With no other choice, they happened to find a stone platform and had to climb it.
Now the problem was that the wolves simply wouldn’t leave, so they were stuck up there.
In the process of climbing, one person was even bitten by a wolf, and another got a fever in the rain.
Hearing all this, Ji Yang didn’t know what to say, he could only comment, "It was indeed lucky, as long as they’re transported quickly, they might be saved."
The girl said, "My name is Sun Xiaoxiao, thank you."
At this time, two unconscious people were being carried on makeshift stretchers made of vines by four people who had come with them; the others, although walking, were visibly struggling.
Now, it was still drizzling, and Sun Xiaoxiao herself looked like she was not doing too well.
Ji Yang took off his raincoat and put it on Sun Xiaoxiao, then said, "Here’s what we’ll do – the mountain path isn’t easy to walk, and you’ve used up a lot of energy. I’ll carry you."
Sun Xiaoxiao didn’t hesitate, admitting, "I really can’t walk anymore."
Ji Yang hoisted her onto his back and strode forward.
With Ji Yang carrying her, everyone’s pace quickened substantially.
On Ji Yang’s back, Sun Xiaoxiao watched this swiftly moving man and felt her heart inexplicably beat faster, her face flushing red.
Ning Weisheng by now was also nearly at the end of his physical strength. This journey had worried and scared him for a long time, and if it hadn’t been for Ji Yang’s arrival, he feared the worst. Seeing Ji Yang leading the way, he felt immense gratitude.
As a distant relative of the Chu Family, Ning Weisheng had finally managed to invite a few influential youths from the Capital City and wanted to entertain them well. But then this happened, and he had no idea how his family would deal with him if things went south. Now things looked much better with Ji Yang’s rescue, and it seemed there wouldn’t be serious issues.
Late into the night, everyone finally arrived at the village.
The village was still brightly lit; the county had sent people, and emergency lighting had been set up – everyone was waiting for news.
The young men who went up the mountain all had significant backgrounds; if something had happened, no one knew how to explain it to their families.
The incident had even attracted the attention of provincial leaders, who called to inquire about the situation.
Officials from the city had also rushed over.
Chu Ning felt considerable pressure, knowing the strong backgrounds of some of those involved – even the Chu Family had to take this seriously. If something had gone wrong, it would have been challenging for him to explain. So, despite the difficult mountain path, he had rushed over.
As everyone sat there discussing how to organize a rescue, suddenly, a cadre burst in.
"We’ve found them!" With the cadre’s voice, excitement spread across everyone’s faces, and Chu Ning quickly grabbed the cadre, asking, "Where?"
"Deputy Chief Ji personally led the search and found them."
Everyone immediately rushed out, not caring about the continuing rain.
By this time, Ji Yang and the others had already entered the village.
Seeing the people coming to meet them, Ji Yang called out loudly, "Is there a doctor?"
A doctor from the county hospital shouted back, "We’re here."
"Quick, two people are unconscious; please save them."
Chu Ning shouted, "Hurry, save them!"
In an instant, the place became chaotic.
Ji Yang directed the doctors to carry the two unconscious people into a room, and then to the others, he said, "There are a few others who are also severely depleted; check them out, don’t let them get ill."
After setting Sun Xiaoxiao down, the doctors took over.
It wasn’t until the doctors took charge that Ji Yang finally relaxed.
Though he was in good shape, carrying a person down the long mountain path had still worn him out, so he sat down to catch his breath.
"Chief Ji, you should go and change into dry clothes."
The doctors from both the county and the township had mostly arrived, and Cao Guihua, the head of the township health clinic, suggested to Ji Yang.
Preparations had been made inside, and after Ji Yang took a hot shower and changed clothes, he felt much better.
Someone brought him a bowl of ginger soup, and after gulping down a big bowl, he warmed up and felt the discomfort disappear.
Thankfully, they had managed to save everyone!
Finally, Ji Yang completely relaxed.
