Chapter 123: Chapter 123 The News Spread
Zhao Qianlin strode into the office building with the members of the People’s Congress, his face grim.
Ji Yang and the others silently followed him inside.
Soon, everyone arrived at the small conference room.
The Party Committee members were already seated in the meeting room.
"Report what you know about the situation," Zhao Qianlin said directly as he turned his gaze to Huang Yu.
Dressed in very appropriate attire that day, Huang Yu appeared quite serious and began, "I will report to the leaders about what we have come to know."
As she made her report, everyone began to understand some of the situation.
Ji Yang realized there was not much difference from what he knew, except for a few additional details, namely that He Chengjun’s lower body had suffered serious injury, rendering that part reportedly useless, and his brother-in-law was now under control.
The investigation also uncovered that although the person who informed Yan Xingshun’s wife was secretive, they were traced to a relative of Yan Xingshun. The relative insisted it was his own doing and unrelated to Yan Xingshun, but evidence suggested otherwise.
After Huang Yu’s report, comrades from the county public security bureau also presented their findings. Their investigative details were even more meticulous; Yan Xingshun’s relative had begun to talk, and it was confirmed that Yan Xingshun was indeed related to the matter.
Sitting there, Ji Yang was inwardly shocked, unable to comprehend how Huang Yu and Gui Ping had managed the situation. However, it was clear that the root of everything originated from Yan Xingshun.
Ji Yang had no involvement in the matter; he just sat and watched, even sensing that despite Huang Yu’s orchestration of events, she was not heavily involved in the operation. Perhaps Gui Ping had taken the lead.
Considering the entire situation, Ji Yang began to understand Huang Yu’s methods; she had simply led Gui Ping into action while she remained hidden behind the scenes. Even if everything came to light, Huang Yu could easily exonerate herself since she had not participated directly.
So, why would Gui Ping agree to do this?
Without much thought, Ji Yang could guess—the stakes were huge. If those two were taken down, Gui Ping could at least secure the position of a village head, which was the reason he was willing to take the risk.
After the public security bureau comrades provided their updates, they said, "From what we have learned, Yan Xingshun has some issues. However, our investigation has revealed that his relative is still hiding something, and we need to dig deeper."
When he said this, Ji Yang quietly glanced at Gui Ping and sure enough, noticed a change in his expression.
This was getting interesting!
Huang Yu’s tactics were powerful—she was planning to trap Gui Ping as well!
After listening to the reports, Zhao Qianlin exchanged a look with the silent County Magistrate Zou Minping and said, "This matter has caused a terrible impact. Yan Xingshun and He Chengjun are now suspended while further investigation is carried out. The public security bureau must be fully involved and clarify the whole situation."
Zou Minping snorted, "What exactly is happening in Qingyuan Village? There have been three incidents in a row already!"
No one dared to speak up; there indeed seemed to be problems in the village.
Zhao Qianlin said gravely, "County Magistrate Minping asks a good question. I, too, would like to know what is going on in Qingyuan Village. If you look, incidents are happening one after another in a short period of time. What does this indicate? It points to significant problems in the mindset of our cadre group."
When Zhao Qianlin intended to comment on the ideological issues of the cadres, he suddenly remembered that both individuals were transferred from outside. Continuing this line of thought could imply that the entire county had problems, which was not what he wanted to see, so he stopped there.
After a silence, Zhao Qianlin continued, "Qingyuan Village is currently at a critical stage. The cadre team here must not be affected. The public security forces must clarify the situation within three days; otherwise, it could severely affect the development here."
Looking around at everyone, Zhao Qianlin went on, "Comrade Chu Shuyuan called. After efforts, the province has re-planned the road construction project. A high-grade highway will pass through our area, constructing a bridge into Wushu Village and then a tunnel into the neighboring province. What does this mean? It shows our village is facing a rare development opportunity. Moreover, a large company is planning to invest ten billion yuan to build a research-oriented pharmaceutical factory in Wushu Village, and the provincial tourism company intends to invest a substantial sum in tourism development here. Comrades, these are rare opportunities for development. At this critical time, if our work impedes development, we will be the sinners of the entire county. The cadres of Qingyuan Village must take action to seize this rare opportunity for development."
Zou Minping also spoke loudly, "Comrades, given the current situation, we must swiftly resolve the current issues at hand."
Everyone’s eyes widened, except for Ji Yang.
Zhao Qianlin looked at Ji Yang and said, "Mr. Ji Yang has been working closely with Comrade Chu Shuyuan on this matter. Please share what you know with everyone."
Instantly, all eyes landed on Ji Yang.
Zou Minping said, "Not all in Qingyuan Village were idle; Mr. Ji Yang has been diligently doing his work, contributing greatly to the entirety of the matter."
Ji Yang hastened to respond, "I’ve only done some specific tasks following the leadership, chiefly because the county leaders have consistently cared for the work here."
Zhao Qianlin and Zou Minping glanced at Ji Yang, thinking favorably that the young man was good at attributing success to the county leadership—indeed, he was a commendable comrade.
