The Alpha's long lost heir
Chapter 70: "Her name is Nyx."

Chapter 70: "Her name is Nyx."

Very early the next morning, Oberon left that palace, he was fed up already, his emptiness grew stronger by the day and it was making him get more depressed.

When he was sure no one was awake, he left the palace. He was beginning to miss Nyx a lot and he wanted his heir so badly.

"How do I ever apologize to her? She must be so mad at me and probably does not want to see me anymore," he shook his head sadly.

"I am sorry Nyx, I wronged you in the past and that must be the reason I am suffering now."

He walked away from the palace at fast as he could, desperate to find a solution and that peace which had left with his inability to produce a heir.

"I will find you, no matter what it takes, and I will also find my heir," he told himself.

He got to a river and sat down, sighing deeply, he took a pebble and threw it into the river, it caused the water to ripple, his heart rippling also.

He took another pebble and threw it into the river again, "My son," he said softly.

He shook his head, wiped his eyes and threw another pebble in the water but this time a cry followed.

He looked up quickly, wondering who it was. His eyes fell on a little boy who was struggling to get out of the river.

He blinked his eyes and stood up, he hesitated for a moment because he didn’t know who the child was but there was this string pulling him to the child.

With slow uncertain steps, he walked to the child and helped him out of the river.

"Are you okay?"

The boy sniffed and looked up at him, with tears in his eyes, he hugged him tightly, "Father!" He cried.

Oberon’s heart skipped a beat, father?

He shook his head, "You must be mistaken, where are your parents?"

He shook his head, "My mother is not here with me and I do not know where my father is," he said sadly.

"Why then did you call me your father?"

He sniffed, "Save me, it is after me," he held him tighter and cried, burying his face in Oberon’s neck.

Oberon’s heart went out to the boy, he patted his back gently, "It is okay now, do not be sad, I will take you to your mother okay?"

His eyes brightened, "You would do that for me?"

He nodded, "Of course, it is not a nice thing you are out here by yourself," he shook his head.

He sniffed again, his eyes watering in appreciation, "Thank you so much father," he said.

Oberon didn’t know why but this boy calling him father made him feel so satisfied. Probably because he wanted a heir so badly, he shook his head.

"Where do you live?"

"Back in the woods."

Oberon drew his head backwards, "The woods? You mean you live alone with your mother?"

He shook his head, "No, I live with my mother and with my aunty," he replied.

He raised his brows, "You do not have neighbors?"

He shook his head, "Mother stays away from neighbors, I do not know why."

Oberon creased his brows, "Away from neighbors," he said to himself, "That means, she does not live with the pack."

His heart skipped a beat, "My dear, how old are you?"

He was hesitant for a while, "Why are you asking me all these? Do you not want to help me anymore?" His eyes watered, his lips shaking as if he would cry any moment from then.

Oberon shook his head feeling bad for saying that to him, "No, that is not the reason," he held his head, "I am sorry, just let us go back to your home, we might probably get there before dusk."

He rubbed his stomach, "I am hungry."

Oberon arched his brow, "Hungry.. uh..." he blinked, "How long have you been here?" He carried him in his arms, "You should not be hungry," he paused and looked at the palace.

"I wanted to stay away from that place," he sighed, "I am only going back because of you."

He nodded, smiled a little and rested his head on his shoulder.

Oberon gently patted his head and headed back to the palace, intending to go there d fast he could so he would not be seen.

With the boy in his arms, he headed back to the palace. The day was still early so there was a probability no one was seeing that early.

He arrived and breezed in, he so badly wanted to avoid everyone that morning, they all made his day depressing.

"What would you like to eat?"

He shrugged, "As long as it satisfies my hunger."

He nodded, took a out a bowl, added some boiled rice and milk in it and then gave it back to him.

"Would that do?"

The boy looked at him with surprise in his eyes, he took the bowl from him and began to eat quickly, he was very hungry.

He watched him eat and his heart melted, He was such a loving child and this particular scene made him want his child all the more. For some reason, he wished this boy was his son.

While he still are, Oberon gathered all the courage inside him and asked him questions.

"Mind me asking you some questions if you do not mind this time."

The boy only nodded.

"You said you do not know who or where your father is?"

He swallowed the food that was in his mouth, "I do not know who and where he is."

"But you live with your mother and aunty right?"

He nodded, "Yes."

"Would you mind if I asked further?"

"You gave me some food, so you can ask whatever you want."

He smiled a little, "If you say so then.. uh.."

"What is the name of your mother if I may ask?" He asked his heart pounding within his chest.

"Her name is Nyx."
