The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 862: A BREATH AWAY FROM BEING DEAD
Chapter 862: A BREATH AWAY FROM BEING DEAD
Alpha Derick was too ashamed of himself for what he had done and how he had helped Kellan all this time when it turned out that man was even more degrading than those savages. He couldn’t even face luna Iris, not to mention his own daughter. He had let her down.
This thought, led him to decide to step down from his position as the alpha.
More so, the warriors needed a new alpha to distinguish the new leader, who would bring them toward different direction.
The warriors respected Cezi as much as they respected alpha Derick, which would smooth things.
"Luna, we would like to have the alpha." Cezi looked very polite, he was very genuine with his intention. "We need alpha Cane to be presence when the warriors from the Celestial Moon pack and I pledged our loyalty to him."
Iris wouldn’t have a second thought to agree to this great suggestion, after all, this was Cane’s idea to get them to his side. The warriors from Celestial Moon pack were battle hardened warriors, who used to fight monsters in the north, therefore, it would be a waste if Cane couldn’t get them for his own benefit in order to fight Kellan and Decratic.
However, the problem was; it was Lu, who had been occupying Cane’s body, while Cane currently was not too strong to reign the lycan back.
"Sure, tell me when and I will let Cane knew about it." Iris was a little bit hesitant, but then she agreed. She only needed to make sure Lu to stay quiet. It wouldn’t be hard, because the lycan was also in his weak state, right?
"I plan to have it tonight. The sooner the better," Cezi replied. He and his father were a little bit disappointed because they couldn’t meet Cane now, but they didn’t have any right to demand the alpha’s presence.
"That’s sound great." Iris nodded.
After that, they talked about a few things more before they left, yet alpha Derick asked to talk with Iris alone and with that Cezi walked out of the room first.
"Luna, I want to thank you again for saving my life, but not only that, you also saved my sister’s life and the other three girls. I don’t know how to repay your kindness," Cezi said solemnly. He was very serious with what he said.
"I am glad you are here now and they are fine." Iris smiled softly at Cezi and this made the young alpha averted his gaze, somehow he felt embarrassed to see this luna right in her beautiful blue eyes. "Cane thought of you as his brother and alpha Derick is already like a father for him, I only hope in the future we will always walk alongside each other."
In another word, Iris wanted to remind them about their loyalty and also to always remember what she and Cane had done for them.
"I understood. I hope the alpha is here. I want to thank him and apologize to him personally." Cezy directed his eyes at the close curtain that obscured Cane’s figure on the bed, because he didn’t dare to look at the luna.
"You will have the chance tonight. Right now, Cane still needs to rest."
With that, Cezi left the room, giving the opportunity to alpha Derick for having the conversation he wanted with Iris.
He looked very old, as if he had aged for a few decades in the last few days.
"What do you want to talk to me, alpha Derick?" Iris asked after a long stretching silent between them and there was no sign of the alpha to start speaking.
"I want to thank you personally to save both of my children. I will give up my life if you asked me to," Alpha Derick didn’t know how to string beautiful words to show his gratitude and remorse.
"You don’t need to, alpha." Iris’s voice was soft, it sounded like an enchanted melody. "I saved them because I can and also because how much you mean for my mate."
The last statement was not completely right, since ’mean’ that Iris mentioned, had different meaning for Cane and alpha Derick.
Iris felt so wicked to play with word. She felt slightly bad to see how touched alpha Derick was to hear it and become even more remorseful.
Well, that’s great, right? It would keep him and Cezi in check. After all, a debt of gratitude was as strong as when you pledged your loyalty to someone.
Cane said that.
There was nothing much alpha Derick said after that, but before he left, he reminded Iris of how cunning Kellan was and the dark forces behind him.
"Thank you, I am well aware of that."
============================
If Ethan didn’t have anything more to do, he would spend his time in the prisoner war area, but to be specific was with this certain man.
"Hi, I am here again!" Ethan grinned from ear to ear. He loved to see the horror in his eyes when he came. This was the man, who almost killed him. Caused him so much trouble because of the power he held in the past.
"Stay away from me! Stay away from me!" Alan screamed on the top of his lungs when he saw Ethan. "Mother! Mother! Mother!!!"
The gamma giggled and he continued with his intention, telling Alan every detail of what happened to lady Cyan. How Cane had skinned her alive and how she met with her demise.
Ethan would tell him this ’good’ story over and over again. He didn’t torture him physically, since there was no need for that. Alan’s condition was rather pitiful, he surely had it rough with Decratic.
Meanwhile, the gamma was not the only person, who came to visit this war prisoner area often, because there was Koda too.
Alpha Colter was still alive, the elders from the Holy Kingdom saved him after the battle with Decratic and even though the alpha was being saved, but he was currently waiting for trial because of the one hundred magic users he had. It breached the rule and the consequence for this action was very dire.
"Do you really think you can take me down?" Alpha Colter narrowed his eyes at Koda. "I don’t know that you are a traitor. I should have gotten rid of you long time ago."
Koda tilted his head. "I should be the one, who said that." Koda knelt down and talked to him in low voice. "Should I remind you of what you are going to do with Laluna? What is your plan with her? Getting rid of me?"
Alpha Colter was shocked. The first thing that came to his mind was; Cane had told Koda about it. But, why?
The answer was very simple, because Cane wanted Koda and alpha Colter destroyed each other. He only needed to say the right thing and the rest would follow as he expected.
"It must be Cane, who told you about it! Do you believe him?!" alpha Colter hissed, trying to pin down Cane in his last attempt to save himself, because he knew what kind of game Cane was playing right now, he and Koda were going straight to his scheme. "You are idiot! Cane is trying to pin us against each other! You need to stop this! He is going to destroy you next!"
Unfortunately, Koda didn’t listen to that, in his eyes alpha Colter only tried his sorry attempt to get him to his side again, but that was not going to happen. Cane was the one, who told him and helped him to get his revenge.
Therefore, from Koda’s point of view, the alpha was the righteous one.
After saying his piece, Koda left with a lighthearted feeling, thinking he was a game ahead of alpha Colter and now, he would meet with his demise once the trial began.
The prisoner area was a little bit spacious without the pack member from Celestial Moon pack, because they were taken to different place. From what people said, they would pledge their loyalty to Cane and Cezi had stepped up to be their alpha.
And while all the preparation was almost completed and the time was near for Cane to make appearance, so Cezi and his warriors could pledge their loyalty to him officially, Iris was having a hard time to deal with the lycan.
"Can I have Cane back, please?" Iris coaxed Lu. Because the lycan was very stubborn to press Cane down.
"No!" Lu frowned. "Why? You don’t like me anymore?"
Iris sighed deeply. This conversation was going nowhere. "I like you so much, Lu, but I need Cane more now..."
"No." Lu turned his body and had his back facing Iris.
"Or... you need to stay quiet and follow the instruction for Cezi to pledge his loyalty to you." Iris only had these two options.
"I don’t want to."
"Why?"
"Don’t like those people. Have the urge to kill them when I saw them."
"Can you press down your urge for a while? You promised me you will not kill them." Iris moved aside and sat down in front of him, so she could see his expression. The lycan was very sullen. It seemed, it hurt his pride to be defeated by Decratic, Zeke and Dexter. It worsened with the fact it happened in front of so many eyes and the elders didn’t do anything.
"But, I didn’t promise not to hurt them. I can torture them until they were only a breath away from being dead," Lu protested.
