Chapter 467 Desert
Chapter 467: Chapter 467 Desert
"Hey, why aren’t you going to sleep? Where are you going?"
Shen Siyuan felt curious when he saw Ruan Hongzhuang getting off the bed and picking up her pillow.
"You’re sleeping alone tonight; I’m going to keep Taozi company," Ruan Hongzhuang said with a mischievous smile.
Shen Siyuan: ...
"I was thinking..."
"Don’t even think about it."
Before Shen Siyuan could finish his thought, Ruan Hongzhuang interrupted him, giving him a glare and a soft snort.
"Uh? Did you misunderstand? I meant, do you need to take another blanket?"
"That’s exactly what I thought too." Ruan Hongzhuang picked up a blanket and ran off.
Though she moved swiftly, Shen Siyuan noticed her earlobes had turned red.
"Haha..."
Hearing Shen Siyuan’s "wild" laughter behind her, Ruan Hongzhuang ran even faster.
-----------------
"Xiao Yue, make sure to protect Duoduo and Dou Dou." Shen Siyuan instructed Xiao Yue.
Xiao Yue nodded with a gentle smile upon hearing this.
Xiao Yue had been back for a few days, and after this return, she seemed much more cheerful.
Tonight, Ruan Hongzhuang accompanied Taozi, and Shen Siyuan decided to revisit the Netherworld.
"I don’t need protection; I’m very strong!" Dou Dou exclaimed fiercely, swinging the small axe in her hand.
Shen Siyuan glanced at her and said, "Make sure to stay close and don’t wander off."
Dou Dou wanted to say more, but Shen Siyuan gave her a stern look and said, "Be good."
At Shen Siyuan’s serious demeanor, Dou Dou immediately fell silent.
Shen Siyuan patted Duoduo’s small head, saying, "Duoduo is the most obedient, I never have to worry about her."
Upon hearing this, Dou Dou immediately felt upset but dared not retort, so she could only look at Shen Siyuan in defiance.
Amused, Shen Siyuan reached out and gently tapped Dou Dou’s little head; then he said to Duoduo, "Let’s go."
Duoduo used her thoughts to manipulate the Qiankun Umbrella above their heads to rotate counterclockwise, reversing yin and yang, and they instantly vanished from the room.
At that moment, a light breeze slipped in through the window, spun around, failed to see anyone, and flew back out the window.
-----------------
"Creak... creak..."
They walked over the endless field of dry bones, with the Yin Wind howling overhead.
Yet they were sheltered under the umbrella, concealing their presence, making it impossible for the countless howling yin souls to detect them for the time being.
The first time they came, Xiao Yue and the others were afraid of the field of bones, but after multiple visits to this world, they no longer felt fear, and even Dou Dou was no exception.
"Wow, this guy’s skull is so round, like a ball."
She remarked on a skull beneath her feet and then kicked it far away with her little foot.
The skull collided with other bones, producing a sound akin to a wooden fish being struck.
"Don’t be naughty," Xiao Yue warned.
Then she looked around with a vigilant expression.
She held the Three Pure Ones Bell, the Soul-hooking Chain encircled her, and the Netherworld Fire Fireflies danced around her head.
She knew more, so she understood the value of caution.
Of course, the Netherworld Fire Fireflies also circled Duoduo and Dou Dou’s heads, providing vigilance, and Dou Dou’s hair was blazing with flames, all her power unleashed.
As for Shen Siyuan walking ahead, he held a Five-Colored Divine Sword, scanning in all directions, continually observing the environment.
Yet no matter how long they walked, the surroundings remained unchanged beyond the endless white bones, forcing him to stop.
"Brother, what’s wrong?" Xiao Yue asked softly.
"Have we been walking for a long time?" Shen Siyuan asked.
"Yes, yes, it’s been a long time. I’m getting bored," Dou Dou immediately said.
Fortunately, this was the Netherworld, and she was a yin soul, floating along the way; otherwise, with her short legs, she wouldn’t be able to move anymore.
"This place is so vast; just walking like this isn’t a solution. Duoduo, let’s change locations."
"Okay."
Duoduo responded and looked at the Qiankun Umbrella covering their heads.
With her thoughts, the Qiankun Umbrella began to rotate counterclockwise again, altering the scenery around them.
"Stop."
At Shen Siyuan’s instruction, Duoduo stopped turning the umbrella handle.
"Where is this?"
Dou Dou curiously looked around, then lowered her gaze to her feet, noticing they were all covered in yellow sand.
Shen Siyuan also surveyed the surroundings, seeing stretches of sand dunes as far as the eye could see.
"Brother, should we change places again?" Duoduo asked softly.
Her big, sparkling eyes roamed around curiously, intrigued by the unfamiliar desert landscape.
"No need for now; let’s move forward and see," Shen Siyuan said.
So they continued their journey, but after taking just a few steps, they felt something underfoot. Looking down, there were white bones.
It turned out that beneath the yellow sand were still white bones.
"Why are there always bones?" Dou Dou murmured quietly.
"This place is like the others, just buried in sand," Xiao Yue explained softly.
"That’s probably it," Shen Siyuan nodded, agreeing with Xiao Yue’s explanation.
"But where did all this sand come from?" Duoduo wondered curiously.
"I don’t know either; let’s keep looking ahead."
With Shen Siyuan’s goal to explore this world, he naturally wanted to see more.
They continued walking for an unknown length, until Xiao Yue suddenly exclaimed, "There are reeds here!"
"Reeds?"
Shen Siyuan turned his gaze to where Xiao Yue’s foot was.
He saw her standing on a few dry reeds.
"What are these?"
Dou Dou was puzzled by Sister Xiao Yue’s surprise, as she didn’t recognize reeds.
Duoduo hadn’t seen them either, but she’d heard of them.
Shen Siyuan bent over and picked them up for a closer look; they were indeed reeds.
However, these reeds were thoroughly dry, crumbling into fragments at a gentle pinch.
Nevertheless, there should be a place where reeds grow; even if they disappear, the disappearance shouldn’t be too long ago, or else these reeds wouldn’t have maintained their structure.
"Let’s look around."
So they continued walking, unsure how long they traveled, until Duoduo shook her small gourd and Dou Dou kept swinging her little axe.
Just as Shen Siyuan contemplated asking Duoduo to change locations again, a massive reed marsh appeared before them.
Below the reed marsh was a shallow water flow, resembling a swampy land.
"Very strange," Xiao Yue couldn’t help but murmur.
Not just her, even Shen Siyuan found it peculiar, as the reeds grew directly on the yellow sand.
This wasn’t some desert oasis; the reeds were growing straight on the sand.
"Stay where you are and don’t move; I’ll go check it out," Shen Siyuan instructed.
"Be careful, brother," Xiao Yue said.
"Mm, keep an eye on those two."
Shen Siyuan stepped towards the marshy area ahead.
As Shen Siyuan stepped out of the Qiankun Umbrella, the flying yin souls in the air noticed his presence and swooped down from the skies.
At that moment, a layer of gentle golden light appeared around Shen Siyuan, causing the yin souls to melt away silently like snow encountering sunlight.
This was the result of his days cultivating the Sun Observation Method.
