Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 446 - 438: Drawn Out
Chapter 446: Chapter 438: Drawn Out
The movement speed of an ordinary Elder Brain is extremely slow, and it can only live in a viscous brine pool. Once forced to leave the pool, it will quickly die. Despite this, many Elder Brains dream of parasitizing dragons to become nightmare-like Main Brain Dragons, yet this doesn’t stop the Neser Brain from mastering numerous spells through the Karsus Crown, using them to rapidly ascend into the sky.
The Neser Brain floated out of the Molding Realm Secret like a balloon, its psionic waves spreading like ripples across a lake.
On the streets of Border’s Gate, countless citizens suddenly knelt and vomited. Their bodies began to twist and transform, accompanied by the cracking sounds of bones breaking. One by one, newborn Mind Flayers stood up, their skin glowing an eerie purple, reaching out without hesitation towards their former family and friends.
At the same time, the blue sky suddenly exploded with clouds of black smoke. As the smoke dissipated, it revealed flying ships, the Nautiloids, created and used by the Mind Flayers.
The Mind Flayers have already lost the secret to creating Nautiloids, which means any loss of a Nautiloid brings them one step closer to being permanently trapped on the Material Plane.
Nautiloids are extremely rare, and any community of Mind Flayers with a Nautiloid will carefully hide it, only sending it to the sky when necessary. If not for the Neser Brain, it would have been impossible to summon so many Nautiloids.
Leon looked at the sky, his pupils slightly contracting, thinking, "Do I have to use Fatian Xiangdi again?"
Border’s Gate is a large city, but in front of the enormous Dharma Body of his Fatian Xiangdi, it is no different from the real estate models used for exhibition in a sales office, easily turned into ruins with a casual movement.
Speaking of which, a mere Neser Brain does not deserve for him to use Fatian Xiangdi.
Besides, he had spent so much effort and energy remaking his Divine Sword, including the upgraded refined gold greatsword with various added damages after returning to Watchtower Port from Aphnas, which had yet to taste blood. Wasn’t this the perfect opportunity?
Thinking of this, Leon no longer hesitated. With a roar, he activated his Dharma Body with Three Heads and Six Arms. Two additional ferocious dragon heads sprouted from his neck, and four arms extended from his shoulders, each claw holding a sword. With the most commonly used arm wielding the Divine Sword, he vigorously flapped his wings and soared, chasing after them.
"By the gods, what is that monster?" Astarion took two steps back, being an Undead Vampire Derivative living in Toril, it was normal not to have heard of the Cliff Sword. "What about that red dragon?"
"That’s Red Dragon Leon, Cliff Sword, Wind Disaster, Wind of Annihilation, Giant God Dragon..." Will’s throat moved, "He appeared recently on the Blood War Battlefield, transformed into a giant standing between heaven and earth, slapped Zarriel into the Nether River, slaughtered hundreds of thousands of demons in just a few minutes, giving devils a chance to drive demons out of Aphnas."
Karak was somewhat carefree, saying, "He almost stepped on me then."
Shadow Heart watched the red dragon’s back intently, interjecting, "I’m more worried... I think we should be more concerned now, whether if he cuts down the Neser Brain with his sword, the Mind Flayers in our heads will die with the Neser Brain or immediately hatch, transforming us into Mind Flayers."
Leon, unconcerned with affairs of others, had only one thought in his mind—destroy the Neser Brain and take the Karsus Crown, fervently flapping his wings towards the Neser Brain, heading straight into a Nautiloid.
Nautiloids vary in size. A large Nautiloid can serve as a mobile nest, housing a complete community of Mind Flayers, including the Elder Brain, Mind Flayers, and their slaves. They move around the world like guerillas, capable of turning an enemy settlement into ruins in a single night before quickly fleeing.
The Nautiloid before Leon wasn’t very large, yet it was nearly a hundred meters long, larger than him. There were over a dozen crossbow cannons arranged on the deck, each operated by three Mind Flayers.
Leon saw the crossbow cannons on the Nautiloid deck all aiming at him. The Mind Flayers operating the cannons flashed with cold killing intent in their eyes. Without dodging or evasion, he roared and flew over, allowing the shells to explode into radiant purple sparks on his scales and swung his Divine Sword.
A sword light traversed the sky horizontally, and the massive Nautiloid was instantly cut cleanly in half like a hot knife through butter. The break was smooth as a mirror, revealing the internal cabin structure clearly.
The Mind Flayer crew shrieked in terror, their tentacles waving frantically, casting Levitation Skill to escape.
Seeing the unfavorable situation, the Neser Brain’s massive brain tissue surface rippled with eerie waves, commanding all Nautiloids to immediately adjust their formation and encircle Leon from all directions.
Bring it on!
Leon let out an excited roar, advancing instead of retreating, flying towards the Nautiloids encircling him, wielding six swords to create a storm.
As Leon flew past, one Nautiloid after another was shattered into pieces. Some were split vertically in two, some cut horizontally into four segments, and others were dismembered entirely—broken ships, billowing smoke, fell from the sky, smashing deep pits onto the streets of Border’s Gate.
All the Nautiloids fell, but the threat was not yet over.
Those who had escaped from the falling Nautiloids, thousands of Mind Flayers, their smooth purple skin glittering with a sinister glow in the sunlight, surrounded Leon at this instant.
Faced with the myriad of Mind Flayers, Leon did not use the Divine Sword. Instead, he beat his wings vigorously, lifting his massive body to great heights in an instant, backlit by the sun, forming a silhouette that blotted out the sky, spreading his wings to unleash the Sanmei Divine Wind.
The Sanmei Divine Wind howled, and those Mind Flayers, with Challenge Levels not even comparable to Fire Giants, were reduced to powder in the Sanmei Divine Wind before they could even scream, disintegrating into ashes.
"Is this the Wind of Annihilation?"
```
"I heard there are only wrong names, no wrong nicknames..."
"Just give him the Karsus Crown and Nether Stone and everything should be fine."
"He still hasn’t used that move to transform into a giant yet."
The hero group had just crawled out of the Molding Realm Secret, watching as Leon unleashed a wind that killed countless Mind Flayers. Each of their expressions was grave, thankful that the Red Dragon seemed to be on their side.
The cerebral cortex of the Neser Brain was twitching; at this point, it felt as if everything was beyond its expectations.
Firstly, that gust of wind was beyond its understanding.
Donning the Karsus Crown, evolving into Neser Brain, and searching Karsas’s vast knowledge base, it couldn’t find any spell record matching it. That wind was more terrifying than the most powerful meteor blast, more deadly than a vengeful storm.
The known Dissociation Technique didn’t have much effect on that Red Dragon, and the Nautilus’s bombardment, along with the Mind Thrusts from the Mind Flayers, proved that psychic damage couldn’t harm the Red Dragon in the slightest... What damage would be effective enough to drive away or kill that Red Dragon before it swung its sword down?
Those Githyanki would soon react, mount the Red Dragon, and encircle them.
Would continuing to teleport more Nautilus ships over be useful?
The Elder Brain is the final stage of a Mind Flayer’s life cycle, a malignant entity with god-like intelligence. Neser Brain wanted to further evolve in this situation. Even so, with every neuron synapse operating at full capacity, it couldn’t think of any way to defeat that terrifying Red Dragon.
Is defeat inevitable?
Submit to that Red Dragon, or threaten with the lives of countless citizens of Border’s Gate... Since when would a Red Dragon care about others’ lives? Red Dragons only care about Gold Coins.
It could only run away; as long as it survives, there would be a chance to recreate the grand blueprint. Staying here would only mean waiting for death, but the Red Dragon was already within reach.
Could the Force Wall Technique be used to create a Force Field Wall to block the Red Dragon... This is the wide sky, not the narrow Dark Territory; it couldn’t create a Force Field Wall with such a large coverage area.
A Mirage might confuse the Red Dragon, giving it a chance to escape.
Or else, try the Maze Technique? The effect of the Maze Technique is to banish a creature within range, visible to you, to a maze-like demiplane. The target would remain there for the duration of the spell, or until it escaped the maze.
The Neser Brain was indeed a supercomputer, capable of calculating countless plans in an instant, but there was only one chance, and it had to be extremely cautious.
Out of thousands of plans, Neser Brain selected one and just as it was about to cast the spell, the Karsus Crown on its head lit up with a red glow, it suddenly saw the Red Dragon transform into a rainbow light.
By the time Neser Brain reacted, Leon had already appeared above it, descending upon it.
The Neser Brain looked like a soft brain, but its surface was extraordinarily tough; ordinary swords and blades couldn’t damage it at all. However, Leon was a Super Giant Red Dragon; having consumed many strength-enhancing Heavenly Immortal Pills, his strength was greater than that of an ordinary Ancient Red Dragon, not to mention he also wielded swords.
Leon gripped the swords and thrust them into the Neser Brain, six swords simultaneously piercing the massive brain tissue, the tough surface like thin paper before him.
The intense pain caused the Neser Brain to convulse violently, shaking in the sky, plummeting uncontrollably.
Roar—
Three dragon heads roared deafeningly at the same time.
Leon’s three heads were not idle; he controlled two heads to tear at the Neser Brain while the middle head carefully avoided the Karsus Crown on top of the Neser Brain’s head. He wouldn’t tolerate any damage to the Karsus Crown, spewing blazing Samadhi True Fire, charring the brain tissue of the Neser Brain.
The colossal body of the Neser Brain crashed heavily into the central plaza of Border’s Gate, raising dust tens of meters high, its tentacles frantically pounding the ground, but it couldn’t shake off the Red Dragon no matter what.
In the distance, the Githyanki army led by Worth had long been assembled, just waiting for the hero group to rescue the Comet Prince and confront the Neser Brain.
He had long seen the Neser Brain fly out, staring in shock at the three-headed six-armed Red Dragon catching up, slicing through the Nautilus ships summoned by the Neser Brain as if cutting vegetables, blowing away the Mind Flayers with a gust of wind, then flying towards the Neser Brain... It all took only a few minutes, and the Neser Brain seemed already doomed.
The hero group arrived late, especially Evil Thought, who saw that even using the Nether Stone, they still couldn’t harm the Neser Brain at all, utterly unable to shake it. At this moment, the Neser Brain was like a dead fish, trampled under the Red Dragon’s feet, opened its mouth, but couldn’t say a word.
