Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 357 - 352: Reduced to Ashes
Chapter 357: Chapter 352: Reduced to Ashes
The Water Walking Technique came in handy again, and Leon no longer had to worry about his feet sinking into the swamp’s muck.
Leon looked around, observing the numerous monsters summoned by Delaguna.
No dragon would ever lack kobolds under its command.
How many bodies were buried beneath this swamp? Skeletons and zombies crawled up from the swamp’s depths. It was uncertain whether they were awakened by Delaguna, or by those cultists and doomsday believers loyal to the Ancient Black Dragon, who appeared out of nowhere.
Ghouls, emaciated yet agile, with incredibly long tongues, roamed in packs.
Shambling Mounds had sturdy limb-like shapes and indistinct heads.
Withered Tree Monsters resembled ancient, gnarled trees with twisted branches and hollow splits, remnants of past meals entangled in their branches and roots.
...
Leon didn’t concern himself with those low-level monsters, even if he stood there doing nothing, letting them attack until they were exhausted, they couldn’t harm him.
He was worried about the swarming Flying Horror Beasts in the sky.
When did the sky become so dark, with overcast clouds obscuring even a sliver of sunlight?
A single Lizardfolk, or even a group, wasn’t much to worry about, but an army of Lizardfolk armed to the teeth was something to be cautious of.
The Hated Snake-man were monstrous serpents with strong humanoid torsos and arms, belonging to the highest caste of the Yuan-Ti society, resembling the Snake God most closely, leading ordinary Yuan-Ti as officers.
There were five Giant Fusion Monsters, similar to the ones seen in the Gladiatorial Arena.
A Zombie Dragon. Leon didn’t expect to see a Zombie Dragon, let alone three of them. It was unimaginable for Delaguna to create Zombie Dragons... something rare among other dragons, but expected from the cruel Black Dragon, whose parents might sometimes decide to eat their hatchlings.
The sheer number of monsters was overwhelming; without his Vajra Body, he would surely be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers.
How to deal with so many monsters swiftly?
The Soul Summoning Mantra had low consumption but was ineffective against those undead creatures, and likely useless against the irrational Flying Horror Beasts and Giant Fusion Monsters.
Indeed, the Sanmei Divine Wind was required, but its high mana consumption was a concern; running out of mana would make it difficult to confront the Ancient Black Dragon.
The Red Dragon remained silent since landing, clearly intimidated by the number of its adversaries’ servants.
Delaguna felt the wounds inflicted by the Red Dragon were no longer painful and laughed, "Weren’t you so fierce just now?"
"You can still run away." Delaguna wasn’t trying to dissuade the Red Dragon but was deliberately provoking him; if the Red Dragon left, he doubted his own ability to face such a formidable foe alone—a young Red Dragon rivaling an Ancient Black Dragon was terrifying.
"I heard you attacked the Elf City before but ran away because you couldn’t win," Delaguna continued.
"That Blue Dragon was magnificent, I really liked her," Delaguna said, licking his teeth with his tongue. "Once I kill you, I’ll capture her and have her lay a brood of Mixed-blood Dragons for me."
He had heard that the Red Dragon, nicknamed Cliff Sword, had a temperament unlike any other Red Dragon, resembling a Blue Dragon instead, sociable and valuing its mate.
Hearing Delaguna’s words, Leon found it amusing rather than infuriating, and said, "What are you talking about, an old salted fish dreaming about having a Mother Dragon lay eggs for you? Wishful thinking! You’re not even capable of that, are you aware?"
Delaguna’s expression remained unchanged.
"That thing of yours stopped working hundreds of years ago, didn’t it?" Leon laughed heartily, becoming more animated, "It’s been hundreds of years since you last touched a female dragon... a fragrant little Mother Dragon."
Delaguna’s pupils suddenly contracted, and a dangerous rumble rolled out from his throat.
Leon didn’t stop, "Really, it’s pitiful, isn’t it? What’s the point of getting so powerful and making so much money, if your rotting old tree stump can’t do anything."
Delaguna’s claws dug deeply into the old tree stump as he said, "I’m not interested in those things, only you young ones are."
Leon laughed wantonly.
"You little brat..." Delaguna was angry, his voice echoing like a chasm, "You’re courting death."
"Don’t get angry now, old guy, it’s not good for your health," Leon was fearless, spreading his wings to prepare for the Sanmei Divine Wind.
"Trying to run?" Delaguna roared, "Go, charge, kill him."
With Delaguna’s words, the summoned monsters moved in an instant.
The Flying Horror Beasts flapped their wings, emitting terrifying howls and moving swiftly, like a storm surging towards Leon.
The Zombie Dragon’s skeletons creaked ominously, moving slowly but powerfully, each step carrying a heavy sense of oppression.
The Giant Fusion Monster wielded its tentacles, appearing truly fearsome.
The kobolds and Lizardfolk shouted deafeningly, surging towards Leon like a tidal wave. Their numbers were overwhelming, threatening to drown Leon in a flood.
The Hated Snake-man stood at the forefront of the Yuan-Ti army, raising their bows and commanding the Yuan-Ti troops to shoot a dense rain of arrows at Leon. The arrows streaked through the air in deadly arcs.
Cultists and doomsday believers stood far aside, controlling the silent march of skeletons and zombies while casting beams of various colors—Frozen Ray, Healing Beam, Weakening Beam... God knows whose brain was fried to also include a Scorching Beam.
...
As for Leon, he was laughing, a deep rumble from his throat. If not for so many enemies, he hesitated to use the Sanmei Divine Wind.
Leon flapped his wings, the air began to flow faster, the space subtly distorted, and an invisible, colorless gale formed out of thin air. The Flying Horror Beast flying the fastest was the first to encounter the Sanmei Divine Wind, its flesh peeling and dissolving at a visible pace, like a snowman in hot sand, with its skeleton turning to dust before hitting the ground.
Skeletons, zombies, kobolds, Lizardfolk were inconsequential, blown away with ease. The concern was that the Zombie Dragons and Giant Fusion Monster could persist against the Sanmei Divine Wind.
Leon intensified his wing flapping, the Sanmei Divine Wind sped up, shaking the massive skeleton of the Zombie Dragon violently, its decaying flesh dissipating first, collapsing like a sandcastle, each vertebrae turning to ash. The Giant Fusion Monster shrank with every step, from giant to medium, and finally to small.
What kind of technique is that?
This shouldn’t continue with that Red Dragon.
Delaguna flapped his wings to take flight, attempting to interrupt Leon’s spellcasting. Flying into the wind, he couldn’t keep his eyes open, his body heating up, scales seemingly thinning, so he decisively turned to distance himself.
The wind subsided.
Delaguna stopped and looked back, now the swamp was pristine, devoid of anything, the stifling miasma gone, no underbrush or withered trees left, naturally none of his numerous minions remained. Looking up, even the clouds seemed to have vanished.
With nothing left, the furious Delaguna calmed down, as if entering a sage-like state of tranquility.
