Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 350 - 345 I Am the King
Chapter 350: Chapter 345 I Am the King
According to Tassera’s usual habits, whenever she goes out, she likes walking, which includes riding mounts or horse-drawn carriages. The main point is to enjoy the scenery along the way. Considering that there were quite a few places to go this time, she followed Leon and flew over, even though flying would still take a lot of time.
Crossroads City is ruled by several large guilds together. Among those guild leaders are powerful beings like the Ancient Black Dragon and the Witch Demon. They are quite impressive, but that’s about it. Leon didn’t mind intruding into the sky of Crossroads City in his Red Dragon form.
Seeing the Red Dragon and the Blue Dragon flying over from afar, the Dragon Riders stationed on the city walls immediately took to the skies, heading toward the two dragons.
Leon looked at the two Dragon Riders from afar, glanced dismissively, then unleashed his Fierce Gods and Evil Spirits aura. Whether it was the knights or their dragons, none dared to advance further. After circling to find Betty’s Mage Tower, he beat his wings fiercely and, upon diving down, had already transformed into human form by the time he reached the ground.
Tassera followed Leon down to the street, transformed into a bespectacled scholar wearing a robe, and said, "It’s been decades since I’ve been here, and you still remember the way."
"My memory has always been great." Leon strode to the front of the Mage Tower.
"Who are you looking for?" A red-skinned Imp appeared, tilting its head at Leon, "I think I recognize you."
Even though decades had passed, Leon’s human form had hardly changed. Smiling, he said, "Why are you still serving as a Magic Pet?"
"So many years have passed, and you’ve still not succeeded in your temptation?" Leon thought. Imps often serve as servants for mortal spellcasters, acting as advisers, spies, or pets, urging their masters to commit evil deeds, hoping to claim the mortal’s soul as a reward in the end.
The Imp wasn’t happy to hear what Leon said. Knowing that enticing that tiny gnome would be so difficult, it might have been better off staying in Hell. By now, it could’ve grown into a Pit Fiend and said, "You’ve upset me. You better not have anything to ask of me."
Leon stretched his arms, used the 72 Transformations, and transformed into a Hunting Demon... In situations where transforming into a giant red dragon was inconvenient, morphing into a High-level Devil familiar to the Imp was the best choice.
"Say that again." Leon threatened, brandishing the Brass Crossbow.
Even a Great Devil with True Vision would struggle to see through Leon’s true form. An Imp had no chance. It almost immediately screamed in flattery, "S-sir, I’m at your service."
"What do you want with my master? You’re not here to take her life, are you?" It was only natural for the Imp to think this way. When a Grand Duke of the Nine Prisons needs someone to track, search, capture, or kill a being, it’s usually a task for a Hunting Demon.
"And what if I am?" Leon flicked the Imp’s nose and laughed heartily, "Little one."
"I-I-I..." The Imp didn’t know what to do. It wanted to guide the Hunting Demon, but it was bound by a contract, unable to do anything that would harm its master.
"Alright, stop scaring it." Tassera stepped forth, "We are here to see your master."
"So, it’s Lady Tassera. I will call on my master immediately." The Imp breathed a sigh of relief.
Since a Hunting Demon appeared together with its master’s friend, it meant its master’s life was spared. In truth, it couldn’t understand who the Hunting Demon was, only knowing that curiosity kills the cat, and was smarter than many others.
The Imp hurried away to bring Betty.
The pigtail-wearing dwarf female Mage saw Leon transforming from Hunting Demon back to human form, especially Tassera, her bright eyes sparkled with excitement, and she said, "You’re here?"
"Long time no see." The gnome’s zest for life and energy permeated every inch of their small bodies; Betty was no exception, jumping up and down, wanting to leap onto Tassera, her Blue Dragon friend.
Tassera caught Betty, smiling, "You are still as smart and lively as ever."
"And you look much more mature." Betty said, "Like a wife."
"I’ve found a mate." Tassera looked at Leon.
"From the first meeting, I knew your relationship was not ordinary." Betty said, "A talented man and a beautiful woman are a perfect match."
Leon crossed his arms, saying, "I obviously have both talent and looks."
"I see the looks; you’re more charming than before. I’m a bit in love with you, if you were a gnome." Betty jumped down from Tassera, "As for talent, I can’t tell."
"What if I said I founded a kingdom and I am now the ruler of a nation, would you believe me?" Leon boasted.
"I believe you." Betty’s thoughts were simple. In this world, any random group of dozens or a hundred Yuan-Ti could set up a Poison Snake Kingdom. A Red Dragon claiming a piece of land to establish a kingdom was hardly rocket science. Next, an Orc becomes Prime Minister, and a Kobold becomes minister. "It’s like I almost summoned a Balor."
"You, with such a small frame, could be dispatched by a whip and sword from Balor, right?" Leon laughed.
Betty rolled up her sleeves, showing her fair small arms, "Who are you underestimating? At least two whips and two swords for me."
"To be honest, we came here specifically to invite you to join us." Tassera interjected, "Hold a high position."
Betty looked at Tassera, seemingly saying, "Why are you also joining the fun?" and said, "How high of a position can I hold? Minister of Magic?"
"We don’t have a Minister of Magic position," Leon thought, "There are still plenty of positions available; it depends on which ones you like."
Betty widened her eyes and asked, "Is your kingdom big?"
"If you include the Flash Sea, then it’s big. If not, conservatively speaking, a quarter of the Talia Alliance." Leon, as a Red Dragon, didn’t have a habit of exaggeration. "Although most of it is forest, if you live in the forest, it doesn’t matter if you’re goblins, kobolds, or orcs, you all must pay taxes... Same goes for those in the sea, whether you’re Sahuagin or Sea Elves, I want coral, pearls."
As Leon talked eloquently, Betty became increasingly suspicious, saying, "Wait, you didn’t actually establish a country, did you?"
"You didn’t always think I was lying to you, did you?" Leon was slightly stunned.
"Wasn’t it?" Betty looked at Leon and turned to look at Tassera.
"Haven’t you heard of the Zhen Dan Kingdom?" Leon said, "The name Leon, haven’t you heard of it in Crossroads City? When I say Cliff Sword, you should know."
"I," Leon tapped his chest, "Cliff Sword."
It was apparent that Betty had heard of it. She jumped up, nearly half a meter high, which is quite significant for a gnome.
"Decades without seeing you, and you’ve become so impressive?" Betty examined Leon as if seeing him for the first time.
"You’re also very impressive; you almost summoned a Balor." Leon chuckled.
Betty pursed her lips, looking bashful.
