Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 328 - 323: Blood Bag
Chapter 328: Chapter 323: Blood Bag
The Kraken was still strong, with thick skin and tough flesh. Even after being beaten by so many, including Leon whose strength was no less than its own, whether using Samadhi True Fire or Three Heads and Six Arms, it dared not hold back at all. Yet, it was still clinging to life, still struggling, struggling to escape into the sea.
"Who gave you such courage?" Leon stepped on the Kraken’s only remaining tentacle, thinking that he had always been the one to run to others’ territories to fight life and death battles, always at a disadvantage and outnumbered, so it was rare to encounter someone attacking his Volcanic Island.
Cecilia walked to Leon’s side, watching the Kraken’s big mouth open and close like a fish out of water, and said, "Master, do you want to kill it? Its whole body is a treasure: eyes, heart, and blood can be used in alchemy, and its teeth can be used to make weapons, while its scales and thick skin can be used to make armor."
"I participated in the battle, so one of the Kraken should be mine. It has four hearts, and I only need one," Salovis, the Red Dragon, was most concerned about dividing the spoils. "But if brother wants the Kraken’s heart for alchemy, I’m willing to sell it to him for just a hundred thousand Gold Coins."
"That’s the Kraken’s heart. A hundred thousand Gold Coins is a bargain." Salovis glanced around furtively, secretly picking up a tentacle that Leon had torn off and stashing it away.
"Can... can I have a share too?" Isily had been on Volcanic Island for two months and was well aware of Leon’s temper. It’s surprising she’s a neutral evil Red Dragon.
"We’ve spared your life, which is already generous enough, and you still want a share of the spoils..." Salovis couldn’t stand Isily.
The Red Dragon and Silver Dragon were at each other’s throats, almost coming to blows.
"Enough, shut up. I haven’t decided how to deal with it yet." Leon originally just wanted the Red Dragon and Silver Dragon to shut up. He was actually intent on killing the Kraken to obtain the rare alchemy materials, but just as he spoke, he suddenly thought that he couldn’t leave the Kraken.
While Leon was pondering how to deal with the Kraken, he suddenly sensed something and glanced toward his Alchemy Room. In an instant, he activated Gathering Form and Scattering Energy to fly towards the Alchemy Room without any hesitation.
"What are you doing? What are you doing!"
Leon discovered Anglistra opening the Alchemy Furnace, her big head peering around it, eager to try something.
Anglistra, noticing Leon’s return, immediately left the Alchemy Furnace. Her peripheral vision caught sight of its lid still open, so she used her tail to close it, somewhat guiltily saying, "Why are you back so fast?"
"If I hadn’t hurried, my elixir would be gone." Leon said with a stern face.
"That’s a Kraken, right? A legendary beast, a fierce martial artist under the Gods." Anglistra had clearly been sneaking a peek at the battle from the mountain below.
"So what if it’s a Kraken? Even if a God-chosen or a Godly offspring came to my territory, they’d not return." Leon walked to the Alchemy Furnace, examining it carefully, "I’ve told you not to eat secretly, right?"
"Catch a thief with the stolen goods, catch an adulterer in the act." Anglistra recovered and turned the tables, "Who ate secretly? Who are you saying ate secretly, and which eye of yours saw me do it?"
"Can’t I even look?" Anglistra blew through her nose, "Maybe you’re being a bit stingy."
"Say that again!" Leon bared his fangs.
"I’ll say it. You can’t do without me, you need my flames to help you with alchemy."
"Ridiculous, you really think I can’t do alchemy without you?" Leon sneered, "Salovis has been eyeing your position for a long time."
Anglistra shook her head, "She’s too weak. Her flame is just a small spark."
"It can be cultivated," Leon said, thinking that perhaps Salovis could indeed be trained a bit. With competition, there would be better service.
Anglistra worried a bit, but only for a moment. Could she not beat that foolish daughter, even if she couldn’t beat her perverted son?
Leon was not reassured to leave Anglistra alone with just a Red Dragon in the Alchemy Room, so he decisively summoned Tassera.
Among all the dragons around him, Tassera was probably the least interested in elixirs. As a Storage Dragon, she was more interested in the method of alchemy, though she was doomed to never learn it and was capable of stopping Anglistra.
With Tassera there, Leon could confidently leave the Alchemy Room this time, and stand once again in front of the Kraken. In the short time he was away, the Kraken seemed to have regained some spirit, worthy of being a Kraken.
"Master, you’re finally back." Cecilia was the most gossipy, "Did something happen?"
"Nothing much," Leon said, "just that Anglistra tried to sneak a taste of my elixir, but I caught her."
"Isn’t that a big deal?" Cecilia knew how precious the alchemy materials were, having been the one to purchase them for Leon, sometimes costing tens or hundreds of thousands of Gold Coins.
"I told you she can’t be trusted," Salovis interjected, in a mother-daughter bickering fashion.
Leon gave his sister a glance and, surprisingly, refrained from mocking, saying, "Fine, I look forward to when you master the Super Spitting Specialization, advance to Element Master."
"I’m a hundred years younger than mother. It’s impossible to surpass her without external aids..." Salovis said, "That Heavenly Immortal Pill, just one would suffice."
"Get out!" Leon showed no mercy.
Salovis fell silent, sighing at how heartless her brother was. After all, they were siblings, and she was the only one genuinely helping him rule the kingdom.
Leon no longer paid attention to Salovis. He looked at the Kraken, still undecided on how to deal with it, tentatively asking, "What if we let it go?"
"Master, you wouldn’t actually want to subdue it, would you?" Cecilia guessed Leon’s intentions, "Without a contract witnessed by the Gods, no agreement could restrain such a mighty Kraken."
"Let me speak with it first," Leon said, towering above the Kraken, "Work for me for a hundred years, and I will set you free."
"You wouldn’t dare," the Kraken responded with telepathy to Leon, "In the deep sea, you are no match for me."
"Really?" Leon was no longer mortal; he recognized this Kraken through magic spirit energy, "Why have you come all the way from the North Sea to the Flash Sea?"
"Do you remember me?" Leon transformed into a Kraken, not only startling the Kraken but also those around him.
"Who... who... who are you?" The Kraken’s eyes widened in shock.
"Work for me for a hundred years, and I’ll set you free," Leon reverted to Dragon Form, "Otherwise, no matter where you flee, I promise to find you."
"Monster, you are a monster... Kraken, Green Dragon, Three Heads and Six Arms of the Red Dragon, you’re a Demigod Druid!" The Kraken, looking at the Red Dragon, began to fear. Even after running from the North Sea to the Flash Sea, it couldn’t escape this being; would escaping to the Water Plane or even the Star Realm help?
"Interpret it however you like." Leon hissed out his tongue, "To clarify further, your main job is to provide your heart and blood for me."
Leon chose to spare the Kraken, essentially opting for a long-term source of sustenance over a one-time feast.
"I’m not livestock." The Kraken struggled to get up.
Leon laughed heartily.
"If you don’t want to be livestock, just defeat me."
"I’ll give you one challenge chance each year, and you can choose the battleground, whether on land or in the deep sea."
"Don’t you have any confidence?"
The Kraken fell silent.
