Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -

Chapter 311: Chapter 306: Lure and Kidnap
Leon only chased for a while before he stopped.
He had to admit, his current Green Dragon form could adapt to both land and water, but it wasn’t an aquatic dragon after all, and no matter how hard he tried, his swimming speed couldn’t compare to the Kraken that lived in the sea all year round.
Only what you have in your hands is truly real. Leon absolutely refused to admit that he was drawn in by the Kraken’s treasure... That Kraken, with nothing better to do, loved attacking ships and dragging them back to its lair in the deep sea. There had to be plenty of merchant ships among those vessels, and undoubtedly, plenty of treasures.
Wagging his tail, Leon swam toward the Kraken’s lair. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the twisted corpse of the Storm Predecessor and thought to himself: The Storm Predecessor’s heart is a rare alchemy material, and its entire body is full of rare alchemy materials. Making a decisive turn, he swam straight toward the corpse.
Leon dug into the corpse of the Storm Predecessor for its valuable parts before heading to the Kraken’s lair, scouring through it meticulously. Aside from Gold Coins and gemstones, he couldn’t find anything particularly valuable.
"What a cheapskate," Leon cursed, thinking that perhaps the Kraken didn’t have the habit of hoarding treasures. Besides, this lair was in the deep sea; even if there had been something valuable, it had probably long been ruined by the seawater. For instance, he saw numerous paintings reduced to just frames, rusted weapons, and equipment... Even Magic Equipment required upkeep. Well, maybe being broke made sense.
By now, Leon was a veteran at treasure-raiding and quickly packed up all the Kraken’s treasures before wagging his tail and heading toward the water’s surface.
The old Green Dragon seemed a bit too flashy. Leon hesitated briefly before transforming... It’s better to become a seabird, less conspicuous but still strong enough. Preventing curious predators from getting any ideas, he flapped his wings and took off, looking in all directions but only seeing endless ocean.
As long as you fly in one direction, you’ll eventually find land. But he still had to go to the Belen Kingdom to find Adra. His main purpose for venturing out this time was to locate him and bring him back to Watchtower Port.
Thinking this way, Leon flapped his wings vigorously and climbed to an altitude of over a thousand meters in less than a minute. From such a height, it was easy to spot land, though he wasn’t sure if it belonged to the Belen Kingdom or the Empire.
Leon suddenly noticed it. Above his head, a teenage Silver Dragon was circling—it looked like Isily. He hadn’t expected her to still be here. Without overthinking, he quickly flew closer and landed on her back.
"Leon?"
Indeed, Isily was a teenage Silver Dragon. Even if she had some special abilities, without being overpowered like Leon, there was no way she could possibly see through him. After all, it’s not every day you see a Silver Dragon staying calm in front of a Red Dragon.
She was merely certain that an ordinary seabird wouldn’t have the audacity to approach her, let alone land on her back. Normally, it would’ve flown away from afar.
"I distracted the Storm Predecessor for you. Why have you returned?" The seabird couldn’t speak, so Leon shifted into his human form, sat cross-legged on the Silver Dragon’s back, and shamelessly replied:
"I was worried about you." As a Metal Dragon, Isily was quite dependable. "The Storm Predecessor isn’t good at flying. We could’ve just flown away."
"So you’re saying I was looking for trouble?" Leon countered.
"I didn’t mean it like that!" Isily quickly clarified, changing the subject. "I noticed that Storm Predecessor was covered in fins and tentacles. That means it’s great at swimming... Yet you managed to outswim it. That’s impressive."
"It’s not a big deal... I’m not good at swimming, but I’m good at transforming." Leon didn’t press Isily further to make her feel guilty. "It’s true that it swims well, but not as well as a sailfish."
Isily blinked and asked, "You transformed into a sailfish to shake it off?"
"I killed it," Leon said, crossing his arms.
"If you could beat the Storm Predecessor, why did you run in the first place?"
"I wanted to lure out the Kraken behind it."
"And?" Isily said with amusement. "Did you kill the Kraken too?"
"Well, no," Leon admitted. "The Kraken was quite tough. I almost couldn’t beat it, and in the end, it escaped."
"What a blatant liar. Are you sure you’re not a Red Copper Dragon?" Isily remarked, suddenly realizing something. She noticed she was being ridden, "Wait... Get off me this instant!"
"Can I refuse? I’m exhausted and need to rest," Leon said, gripping the scales on the Silver Dragon’s back. He thought to himself that he must be the first Red Dragon to ever ride a Silver Dragon. Such an achievement deserved a Golden Finger reward.
"Don’t push your luck!" Isily suddenly folded her wings and plummeted from the sky, spiraling downward halfway through before climbing back up again. However, no matter how high-risk or difficult her aerial maneuvers were, she couldn’t shake off Leon, who clung onto her like a leech.
"You’re bullying me! You’re bullying a girl!" Isily threatened. "I’m going to tell my big cousin."
"Tell whoever you want. I don’t care," Leon said nonchalantly.
"You’re despicable," Isily accused. "Now I’m beginning to suspect you’re a Colorful Dragon."
"You’ve never seen my true form. Maybe I am a Colorful Dragon," Leon teased. "An Evil Red Dragon."
"Then I’ll be a righteous Metal Knight," Isily retorted. For now, she gave up trying to shake him off, opting to chat instead to lower his guard before attempting a sneak attack. "The Metal Knight Order’s duty is to stop the rampage of Colorful Dragons and prevent the Evil Dragon Queen from further spreading her influence in this world."
"I know a Metal Knight..." Leon recalled that Fiora was a member of the Metal Knight Order. "She’s never stopped a Colorful Dragon from rampaging."
"Wait, you actually know a Metal Knight?" Isily’s curiosity was piqued. "Can you introduce me?"
"Are Metal Knights so rare that you need me to introduce someone?" Leon asked out of curiosity. "Don’t Silver Dragons gather together? Out of so many Silver Dragons, not even one’s a Metal Knight?"
Silver Dragons were peculiar compared to other dragons. They loved forming groups and offered true friendship only to humanoids they befriended. Many Silver Dragons spent as much time in humanoid form as in dragon form... In gaming terms, they were akin to city-dwelling NPCs.
"No," Isily admitted. "The Belen Kingdom is too cold and filled with the Frozen Soil Wilderness. Apart from White Dragons, it’s hard to spot Red Dragons, Blue Dragons, Green Dragons, or Black Dragons. Without enemies, there’s naturally no need for a Metal Knight Order."
"But there are still White Dragons, aren’t there?" Leon chuckled.
"White Dragons are nothing more than beasts that hunt. They’re weak and lack intelligence, hardly worth targeting," Isily scoffed.
"Even if there are a few Metal Knights, they’re most likely Golden Dragons or Bronze Dragons. Silver Dragons don’t seem particularly interested in eradicating evil," Isily muttered to herself.
Leon pondered for a moment, recalling that Silver Dragons believed the essence of noble life involved doing good deeds while avoiding undue harm to others. Unlike Golden Dragons or Bronze Dragons, they didn’t impose themselves with a mission to eradicate evil. Of course, they didn’t mind confronting those who committed crimes or harmed the innocent, but at most, they were like do-gooders shouting against injustice.
"The Metal Knight you know—what kind of dragon are they? Golden or Bronze?" Isily asked.
"Bronze Dragon," Leon replied. "A foolish Bronze Dragon who’s also a knight lady."
Isily, ever perceptive, remarked, "You seem close to her."
"She’s my subordinate," Leon said with a grin.
"I’ve never heard of one dragon serving another as a subordinate."
"That’s because you lack experience," Leon said smugly. "You’re still a teenage dragon. Far too young."
"Now, take me to Snow Flow Canyon. I’d like to see the Frost Worm, and after that, carry me to Bern," Leon commanded. "Do these two things for me, and I might consider introducing you to the Metal Knight."
"Alrighty," Isily responded, sensing her flight speed had slowed, so she flapped her wings more vigorously. "Hold on tight."
Isily was clearly not your typical Silver Dragon, but Leon couldn’t figure out why. No matter where he went, he always seemed to run into dragons with strange personalities.
