Chapter 304: Chapter 299: The Delayed Message
In the past, when refining the Heavenly Immortal Pill was hindered by the lack of rare alchemy materials, Leon thought about venturing out to hunt some powerful monsters. However, without knowing where such monsters were, he had to abandon the idea.
Leon now faced a similar situation. He wanted to explore and encounter strong monsters to expand his knowledge; otherwise, the 72 Transformations would remain unusable since transformation required firsthand experience. Yet, he had no idea where such monsters might be active.
With no viable options, Leon had to temporarily suppress his impulse. Besides, he had just established his kingdom, and as a King, it was not appropriate to go on an extended journey at this moment. Even indulging in one’s whims needed restraint and proper timing.
Speaking of kingdom-building, he had kept himself busy for half a year. It wouldn’t hurt to take some time off, rest, and enjoy life for a while since no external enemies were pressuring him into constantly improving his strength.
First, he planned to get a good night’s sleep, then feast, and finally relax in a lava bath... And so a week went by just like that.
For Leon, life as a King after nation-building wasn’t much different from his previous lifestyle.
In fact, the political structure he established had streamlined responsibilities and minimized bureaucratic conflicts, drawing in additional manpower. For instance, he had coerced the Brass Dragon to relocate to Watchtower Port as Engineering Minister and assigned several well-trained Tiefling maids to governmental posts there. Compared to before, Leon’s workload had actually reduced.
Initially, Leon planned to reward Anglistra with the Scroll Book—the one looted from Slankus’s Treasure Vault detailing the secrets of the Element Master—after she achieved some notable merit.
But finding an appropriate opportunity proved elusive, and to prevent delays in future alchemical endeavors, he had to give it away under a random pretext.
Compared to his life before crossing worlds, Leon had grown significantly lazier. Salovis was a lazybones too—undoubtedly inheriting this trait from Anglistra. That Mother Dragon astonishingly neglected a progression path so powerful, barely moving for ten days or half a month. Heaven only knew how she mastered so many Super Spitting Specializations back in the day.
Faced with no alternative, Leon found himself repeatedly urging Anglistra to practice diligently: "How can you sleep soundly at your age?"
He spent more time urging Anglistra to train than he did managing state affairs each day.
Three months had passed since the kingdom’s founding, yet Leon hadn’t seen a single Colorful Dragon come to join him. He suspected Tiamat’s declarations of support for his nation-building had been nothing but hollow words. While he didn’t need Tiamat’s backing, he couldn’t accept being deceived and played.
Six months slipped by without much happening.
Leon had initially worried that some factions might oppose him and use excuses to launch attacks on his kingdom. Yet, no one did—whether it was the giants or the armies of the Talia Alliance approaching the Emerald Corridor. Undoubtedly, his strategic restraint contributed to this lack of aggression...
Indeed, no powers attacked him, but none reached out to engage either—no treaties, agreements, or anything of the sort—as if he didn’t exist.
For Leon, as long as he grasped his Golden Finger and ensured Zhen Dan Kingdom’s recognition, the opinions of other nations mattered little.
In summary, the uneventful times left Leon restless. He considered venturing out to explore, yet couldn’t immediately decide where to go.
Though he had visited the Dark Territory several times, he had yet to encounter a Beholder or Purple Worm. Should he get the chance to meet a Purple Worm, he could transform into one and no longer fear enemies adept at tunneling...
That said, Magma Land Sharks also excelled at digging, as did Jade Dragons. If faced with tunneling rivals, he could transform into an Ancient Jade Dragon to counter them, unafraid of collapses while exploring Underground Cities.
Given these thoughts, he considered going to the deep sea instead.
Currently, he could only transform into either a Dragon Turtle or an elderly Green Dragon. While the Green Dragon could indeed breathe underwater, its Poison Breath was entirely ineffective submerged. Using sharp teeth and claws alone wasn’t enough; he’d need to meet and study more formidable creatures like Krakens and Leviathans.
On second thought, why restrict himself to the Material Plane?
With his current strength, he wouldn’t need to worry about dangers in other planes. If an encounter escalated beyond his capabilities, he could easily flee without issue. Leon also hadn’t offended any Gods, so divine interference seemed unlikely.
Celestial Mountain rose from the benevolent Silver Sea as an awe-inspiring holy peak, its height unfathomable and unimaginable. Its seven terraces were the domains of its seven layers.
Celestial Mountain stood as the epitome of righteousness and order, a gift from above, teeming with grace and unending kindness. There, Angels and Fighters served as Guardians, upholding goodness and fending off evil invasions. Surely, encountering Solars and glimpsing Supreme Heaven there would be easy; he could later transform into Solars and Supreme Heaven for combat...
Prejudices in people’s hearts are mountains; no matter how hard you try, you cannot hope to move them. As a wicked Red Dragon, unless Leon wished to experience a world where all opposed him, he knew better than to tread on higher planes.
Leon still remembered Chains Demon General Marahis. If he visited Burning Flame Hell, he could conveniently eliminate that troublemaker, who ceaselessly schemed for Tassera—currently his Queen—an unacceptable risk.
The Bottomless Abyss offered a plethora of Demonic entities to witness—the likes of Mariliths, Goristros, Balors... The powerful Demon Lords there might even prove worth a visit.
The Evil Dragon Queen Tiamat’s lair resided in the first layer of the Nine Hells, Aphnas. Unless necessary, Leon felt it best to steer clear; her intentions seemed far from trustworthy.
Leon hadn’t yet decided where to go when news of great importance reached him.
"What did you say? Someone has information on the person I sent you to search for years ago?" Decades had passed, and Leon had nearly forgotten about his former mentor, Edwin. "Where is he now?"
"In a very faraway place," Cecilia replied. "Have you heard of Belen Kingdom?"
"I know it. It’s the kingdom built upon the Frozen Soil Wilderness in the north," Leon said. "No wonder he remained elusive; turns out he traveled to such a distant location."
"I suspect he went there to avoid Anglistra—your mother," Cecilia suggested. Having heard tales about Edwin, no gossip escaped her keen ears.
"Perhaps," Leon said nonchalantly. "I’m going to find him."
"You could just send someone to handle it," Cecilia advised. "That man merely taught you a few things; what qualifies him for the honor of your lengthy journey?"
"I’m not going to Belen Kingdom solely for him," Leon replied. "I plan to venture out, and his appearance has offered me direction. I’ve never visited the Frozen Soil Wilderness, nor seen the Great Glacier in my life."
