Chapter 289: Chapter 284 Green Dragon’s Scheme_2
The forest he rules is neither too far nor too close to Watchtower Port, so he must have heard of the events occurring there.
"It’s not one Green Dragon, but two Green Dragons," Leon interrupted Hinton. "Didn’t you just say you’d pledge loyalty to me? Well, I’ve accepted your allegiance."
"Yes, yes, two Green Dragons," Hinton quickly replied, but since Leon cut him short mid-sentence, he lost his rhythm for a moment, opening his mouth several times without knowing what to say.
Hinton took a deep breath, regained his composure, and said, "No matter how powerful Slankus is, he’s still just one elderly Green Dragon. If Lord Leon gathers everyone, we can undoubtedly drive him out, seize the Emerald Corridor, and connect the territories into one."
"I don’t need so many people," Leon chuckled lightly. "I can handle it on my own."
Leon wasn’t being overly arrogant—after all, he was now a young dragon, and he’d consumed several Heavenly Immortal Pills. Those pills were not bought with mere pocket change. At this point, even the fully restored Su Ausis with his Undead Black Scripture and Pyramid was not a threat to Leon, let alone an elderly Green Dragon that could only intimidate the Talia Alliance.
"I’m just worried about one thing—not being able to find that elderly Green Dragon’s lair," Leon said, raising his chin while gazing into the distance.
"Slankus’s lair is easy to locate. He has a palace—hard to miss," Hinton gestured.
"Well, then there’s nothing to worry about," Leon said, flicking his tail.
"It’s not that I underestimate you, Lord Leon... but Slankus really is strong. We must act cautiously and gather everyone; that’s the safer approach," Hinton insisted. "If everyone joins in, the worst-case scenario is just sharing a little more of the spoils when the time comes."
"It’s not about the money; I don’t care about money..." Leon began but trailed off mid-sentence.
Truth be told, Leon had never been overly concerned about money before, but with so many expenses now piling up, he was starting to care—even if only a little. Not obsessively, but definitely more than before.
Leon noticed the Green Dragon looking at him, slightly embarrassed. He said, "It’s not that I’m stingy with sharing spoils; it’s just unnecessary. Believe me, I’m not exaggerating here... even if all five of those dragons ganged up on me, they wouldn’t stand a chance. In fact, it’s not just wouldn’t stand a chance—I could beat them with one hand tied behind my back."
"Lord Leon is truly incredible," Hinton squinted slightly, parroting the sentiment while inwardly skeptical. As far as he knew, rumors held Leon, the Red Dragon, as the Lord of Giant Dragons, but he rarely made public appearances. Watchtower Port’s actual authority appeared to be entirely in Green Dragon Cecilia’s hands—highly unusual...
"Haven’t you heard?" Leon occasionally enjoyed boasting. After all, he was a young dragon—a spirited youth. "My flames, even Flame Immunity doesn’t work against them."
"What kind of flame is that, so powerful?" Hinton perceptively asked to follow up.
"Of course, it’s Divine Fire," Leon declared proudly. To him, the Samadhi True Fire—a high-tier reward granted by his Golden Finger—was undoubtedly Divine Fire. He firmly believed the Samadhi True Fire could even harm lofty gods. "And you’ve probably heard of my nickname, ’Cliff Sword,’ haven’t you?"
"Of course, I’ve heard of it. I heard Lord Leon severed an entire cliff with a single sword slash," Hinton replied. "No dragon has ever wielded a sword before. Lord Leon, you are truly the first dragon in history to do so. Your name will surely be etched deeply into everyone’s memories, passed on to future generations, just like the names of the two emperors."
Leon suddenly felt a fondness for the Green Dragon—its words were just too flattering. He said, "Everyone knows I can wield a sword, but there’s something they don’t know. I don’t just use swords—I control flying swords. Not just one, but six; in fact, I can command thousands or even tens of thousands."
"’Cliff Sword’—unstoppable in offense, invincible in battle, the Red Dragon King, a paragon of both virtue and prowess, destined to rule the world for millennia!" No one, not even Cecilia, could match Hinton’s unparalleled flattery.
Leon basked in the praise, looking approvingly at Hinton. He said, "You may have heard about me blocking the Elves at the gate of their city, or how those pirates provoked me—and I destroyed their hideout in one breath, stealing hundreds of thousands of Gold Coins."
"I even led the team to dismantle the tomb of the Ancient Fallen Empire, deep within the desert..." Leon wasn’t sure whether Salovis had bragged about this feat publicly, "Have you heard of it before?"
Take luxury goods, for instance—ordinary people may never afford them in a lifetime, yet why are they advertised everywhere? Such ads aren’t truly meant for the wealthy; they exist to educate the masses. The envy in a poor person’s gaze becomes the emotional currency the rich treasure.
Leon began explaining some background information about the Ancient Fallen Empire to the Green Dragon, which nodded repeatedly in agreement. Only then did Leon proclaim, "I single-handedly defeated Witch King Su Ausis and his undead army. A one-dragon army on my own... What’s one elderly Green Dragon, cornered in a forest by the Talia Alliance? How powerful could he really be?"
"Honestly, if you hadn’t surrendered so quickly, you’d already be dead," Leon remarked, glancing at the Green Dragon. He was certain this Green Dragon wouldn’t even last a single round against him, let alone defeat Cecilia.
"That’s about it," Leon said, satisfied after showing off. "Let’s go."
"I am very generous. If you join the battle—if your intentions are genuine—even if you don’t lend any substantial assistance, I’ll still share a portion of the spoils with you." Leon spread his wings. "But if you choose not to fight, I won’t hold it against you. Just don’t expect even a Copper Coin afterward."
"I only hope that guy doesn’t surrender as quickly as you did; if he does, I wouldn’t even know what to do," Leon said, flapping his wings and soaring skyward.
Hinton watched Leon’s figure, wrinkled his nose, and sneered.
He’d long heard rumors of the Red Dragon named Leon, supposedly unique among his kind. This particular Red Dragon was unusually calm, far less fiery and impulsive than others of his kind. Yet seeing him in person—he truly found Leon’s fame exaggerated...
The size of that Red Dragon was truly massive. Hinton had to admit he couldn’t measure up. Given such youth and size, arrogance was to be expected, but there was no way Leon could compete with Lord Slankus... The time Hinton stalled earlier had undoubtedly allowed Lord Slankus to prepare adequately, lying in wait.
How preposterous—it was enough for Leon to rule Watchtower Port, drive out that Black Dragon, and seize the swamp, but he still dared to covet the lands governed by Slankus and Hinton.
Ruling such a vast area, from Watchtower Port to the Emerald Corridor—a territory spanning roughly one-quarter or even one-third the size of the Talia Alliance—was sufficient to establish a proper kingdom. But did Leon have the capability?
It was puzzling how this Red Dragon had managed to recruit so many other dragons. Was it because he was good-looking? Regardless, as long as they subdued Leon into a weakened state, triggering infighting among the remaining dragons would be easy.
That Green Dragon Cecilia had seized most of the power in Watchtower Port. The other dragons surely weren’t happy about it. If the Red Dragon supported Cecilia, she could suppress them; but if he became weak and failed to maintain control...
Speaking of, that Green Dragon—Cecilia—who Hinton had glimpsed briefly, was breathtakingly beautiful. He wondered if there was an opportunity to get close to her...
As for the Blue Dragon, who typically stayed behind the scenes, she was hard to gauge. The two other Red Dragons, aside from Leon, were typical: prideful, arrogant, and dismissive of all others. Stirring them to raid Watchtower Port wouldn’t take much effort; if successful, Watchtower Port would be thoroughly ruined.
As for the bronze dragon, there was nothing to say—no intervention would be necessary. If the other Colorful Dragons lost their leadership, the bronze dragon would leave of its own accord.
With this train of thought, Hinton kicked off the ground, took flight, and accelerated to catch up with Leon.
"Lord, this way," he called.
