Chapter 276: Chapter 272 Cultivation

Salovis, that unlucky kid, ran into Anglistra and actually tried to shift the trouble onto her. It’s fortunate he’s quite strong; otherwise, he’d be in real trouble. Serves him right for facing this calamity.

Leon took joy in seeing Salovis suffer, but if Anglistra went too far, he’d step in and stop her. After all, Salovis is under his wing now, and after some training, he’s turned out to be quite obedient.

Salovis is a teenage dragon, while Anglistra is an adult dragon. Under normal circumstances, Salovis should quickly be caught by Anglistra.

Leon eagerly anticipated a "she flees, she chases, she’s cornered" scenario. He waited half the day but still didn’t see Anglistra drag Salovis back to the Volcanic Island, forcing him to surrender all his savings...

Leon contemplated for a moment. It’s true Anglistra is an adult dragon, but Salovis isn’t your average teenage dragon. Having lived for years on the fire-spiritualized Volcanic Island, her abilities are a cut above typical teenage dragons. In the end, she might just escape Anglistra’s grasp.

All in all, the two dragons had been gone for ten days to half a month. No one knew where they’d flown off to, leaving Leon having completely forgotten about the matter.

Speaking of which, Cecilia had heard Leon’s mother had arrived. She then chased after Salovis, eager to watch the drama unfold but couldn’t find where to spectate. Fearing the chaos might spill over to her, she spent the entire afternoon sulking over it.

With Salovis temporarily away from Volcanic Island, Leon’s life was somewhat affected, mainly because he now lacked a playmate.

That lazy Red Dragon, whether it was playing cards, chess, or mahjong, was always ready and willing, unlike others who were often busy with various things.

Especially since Tassera hadn’t figured out the Focusing Eye yet. Lately, she’d been poring over the books brought back from the pyramid, hoping to glean useful intelligence or clues from them. She spent every day cooped up in the Mage Tower, reading and researching, so much so that even when Leon sought kisses from her, she scorned him.

With no other choice, Leon turned to his Tiefling maids for entertainment.

Unless necessary, he really didn’t want to play with the Tiefling maids. The reason being these Tieflings, out of respect for his status as their master, always indulged him—even losing games on purpose. Unlike dragons, who would refuse to yield to anyone, arguing vehemently and employing every trick they could to win, that kind of gameplay was far more enjoyable.

"Where’s Noxier?" Leon recalled that meticulous and diligent Tiefling maid, who, unlike the others, didn’t like handing him the win—but her humorless personality was a bore. "Call her over to play cards with me."

Noxier was soon called to Leon’s side.

"What’ve you been up to? You’re sweating buckets." Leon noticed Noxier’s bangs were plastered to her forehead.

"Nothing much," Noxier replied and then quickly corrected herself. "I dare not conceal anything from Master. Noxier has been training."

"Training?" Leon asked, puzzled.

"Noxier has wanted to become stronger, so she’s been secretly training lately," said a short-haired Tiefling maid. Short hair, long hair, ponytails—each of Leon’s maids was styled differently because he appreciated beauties with distinct charms. "Noxier doesn’t want to be a maid for life."

"Is that true?" Leon crossed his arms and leaned back into his chair, staring at Noxier. "You don’t want to be my maid forever?"

"Not at all," Noxier immediately knelt. "I’ll stop training from now on."

"I was just asking; why are you so nervous?" Leon chuckled. "Am I that intimidating?"

"As long as you do your job well, wanting to train or improve yourself is a good thing." Leon nodded. "I lack capable people under my command. If you can develop some real skills, you’d be far more valuable than just serving tea, wiping tables, and sweeping floors... Maids are easy to find; talent is rare."

Leon’s subordinates weren’t primarily humanoids—most were monsters. He was genuinely eager to see these Tiefling maids grow, and if they reached a certain point, he could send them out to handle tasks for him. Whether it was serving as officials at Watchtower Port or spies in Crossroads City, the Talia Alliance, or the Empire, the possibilities were wide open.

The Tieflings possess Purgatory Bloodline, though that lineage doesn’t greatly influence their personalities.

Tieflings are slow to trust those claiming to be friends. However, when their partners display trust, Tieflings will reciprocate with equal sincerity. Once a Tiefling pledges loyalty, they become unshakable allies and teammates for life.

"Stand up," Leon beckoned. "What weapon do you use?"

Noxier stood up slowly and replied, "A sword."

Leon flicked his wrist, pulling a sword from the small pocket space of the Sleeve of the Universe and tossing it to the ground. "Show me what you’ve got—let’s see the results of your training."

Noxier picked up the sword and began to wield it. At first glance, it looked somewhat competent.

Leon didn’t claim expertise in every weapon, but with swords, he certainly had some understanding. "Not bad, considering you’ve been training by yourself. For self-taught skills, this isn’t a bad level at all."

After hesitating briefly, Leon asked, "Is there anyone else among you who, like Noxier, doesn’t want to be just a maid?"

"I could bring in teachers, give you some formal training. I’d gladly see you trained as warriors, rangers, wanderers, and the like," Leon said. "If you show real talent and determination, grow to stand on your own, I wouldn’t mind letting you move forward... I’d gain another capable ally, and you could make something of yourselves."

"Go now," Leon dismissed them, his mood shifting as he considered his next course of action. "Send for your Chief Maid."

Cecilia arrived swiftly. For now, she still held the role of Leon’s maid—or rather, his Chief Maid.

Leon shared his thoughts with her. He would issue the orders but wasn’t interested in micromanaging. He wanted Cecilia to gather some people to train these Tiefling maids, though it wasn’t limited to them; the focus was on cultivating talent.

"Skill is key, but loyalty is even more important. Loyalty training can’t be overlooked."

"The best candidates are orphans, then those with clean family backgrounds... Tieflings, in particular, are excellent—being a race often lacking recognition, they’ll eagerly dedicate themselves to us as soon as we show them a little acceptance."

"Draft me a plan, then bring it for review."

Leon handed off the task, no longer overseeing the details. He’d gotten caught up in a random mood—his familiar notification chimed in as usual.

"Education for all—establishing a system for reserve leadership, strengthening department head candidate training."

"Common reward: Alchemy."
