Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 224 - 223: Feng Shui
Chapter 224: Chapter 223: Feng Shui
After the cooperation was reached, the Githyanki delegation left immediately.
Leon stood at the dock, watching the Star Realm speedboat ascend into the sky and grow smaller and smaller, transforming from an olive to a seed. He muttered, "They’re leaving way too quickly, huh? I was planning to host a big banquet tonight to properly entertain them."
"With how badly they lost, I wouldn’t stick around either," Tassera said while standing beside Leon, shorter than him by half a head. "Let’s head back."
Tassera had already taken a few steps before realizing Leon was still rooted to the spot. Unable to resist, she asked, "Still staring at it... What has you so captivated? The Star Realm Silver Sword, or the Star Realm speedboat?"
"The Star Realm Silver Sword is excellent, but my Catastrophe Blade is no less impressive," Leon mused dreamily. "What I really want is a Star Realm speedboat... doesn’t necessarily have to be that model though. Mainly, I just want a spaceship—don’t you think that’d be incredibly cool? If I ever get the chance, I’m definitely going to snag one."
Tassera shrugged her shoulders in response.
As the Star Realm speedboat vanished into the sky, Leon reluctantly tore his gaze away, noticing Salovis—his sister, who hadn’t left with the Githyanki delegation and instead had stayed behind. He said, "You can stay at my place for now—whether it’s up in the mountains or down below, wherever you like—until you’ve decided on a place to build your nest."
"Awesome!" Salovis exclaimed excitedly. "Tomorrow, I’ll head to the Lost Plateau and check it out."
"Go whenever you want; just be careful. The Lost Plateau is crawling with giants—Cloud Giants, Fire Giants, Frost Giants, you name it. None of them are opponents you’re ready for yet," Leon advised after some thought.
"Is it really that dangerous?" Though she was a Red Dragon, Salovis still understood the threat posed by giants and hesitated upon hearing Leon’s warning. "If I end up staying here indefinitely, are you going to kick me out?"
"You’re my sister. If you want to stay longer, it’s fine," Leon said, having grown accustomed to solitude but still enjoying lively company. With such a huge mansion, adding one more person didn’t matter to him. "What I mean is, in your own territory, you can mess it up however you want. But in my place, you follow my rules."
"What rules?" Salovis blinked curiously.
"I’ll get someone to teach you." Leon initially considered having the Efreeti teach Salovis the rules but ultimately summoned Cecilia instead.
Now that his quirky little sister was situated, Leon—having wrapped up all pressing matters—returned to his villa, found a lounge chair, lay down, and gestured to his Tiefling maid to bring him a drink. As he relaxed, his mind wandered to the recent Golden Finger reward he had received.
Leon had always assumed that even with a Golden Finger reward, it would only appear after he’d worked for the Githyanki once—raiding some Mind Flayer colony and successfully eliminating the Elder Brain. He hadn’t expected the reward to come as soon as their cooperation was established.
Securing a job should hinge on signing a labor contract, not on working a month before receiving your salary. Thinking about it this way, it did make some sense.
Regardless, as long as he got the Golden Finger reward, the process didn’t matter—the result was what mattered.
"Feng shui... feng shui..." Leon murmured, placing his hands on his stomach as he talked to himself. This was the first time he’d encountered such an odd Golden Finger reward.
First, it was clear: this feng shui did not provide any combat power. It was an academic discipline, not a spell.
Feng shui, when interpreted literally, depicts wind as the movement of air—a fusion of heaven and earth’s energy, granting vitality and transformation to all things. Water, on the other hand, symbolizes the lifeblood of the earth, nourishing everything and fostering life.
Feng shui encompassed a wide range of subjects, including natural phenomena like mountains, rivers, landforms, and terrains, as well as artificial constructs like building layouts and road designs. Essentially, it was an integration of geography, geology, astrology, meteorology, and many other scientific fields into a single discipline.
The origins of feng shui weren’t what mattered; what mattered was its usefulness. As the saying went: fate first, luck second, feng shui third. Feng shui had to be helpful, right?
Leon thought of how young dragons often attempted to build their nests in areas with magical resonance.
These could be locations where lines of magical energy intersected, areas struck by ancient meteorites, or ancient Mage Empires long forgotten, where magi had imbued the land with their powerful spells—rare places indeed.
Discovering these sites of magical resonance was no easy task. A young Silver Dragon might shamelessly perform tricks daily for an entire Cloud Giant family just to earn their help in locating a good nesting spot.
Now, with his mastery of feng shui, he could identify prime nesting locations at a glance, avoiding the ordeal of painstakingly building a nest only to find it unsuitable and having to angrily relocate.
With that thought, Leon couldn’t help but unleash his frustration.
"Couldn’t it have come sooner?!"
"Why didn’t it come sooner?!"
"I’ve already settled down—the dormant volcano awakened, the castle and villa are all built, everything is set! Now you tell me how to find a nesting spot? What good does that do me now?!"
Leon felt genuinely annoyed.
When he rejected the Molten Lava Lake in the desert in favor of building a nest elsewhere, he hadn’t yet mastered feng shui to help him find the perfect spot. Now, having invested vast resources and time on construction at the Volcanic Island, there was absolutely no way he would consider leaving, and yet he’d only now learned feng shui.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Spotting a sandcastle on the beach—built out of boredom by some Tiefling maid—he stood up and stomped it into oblivion but still didn’t feel satisfied.
In his Dragon Form, Leon’s emotions often got the better of him, but in his human form, he remained far more composed. Quickly calming down, he reasoned that choosing the Volcanic Island without using feng shui didn’t necessarily mean it was a poor choice—a proper examination was needed.
Leon resumed his Dragon Form, spread his wings wide, kicked off with his legs, and flapped his wings to take off. He flew a few laps around the Volcanic Island, using his newfound feng shui insights to assess the location.
Where there’s fire, there’s molten lava, and molten lava is akin to a planet’s lifeblood. While this volcanic island wasn’t exactly an ultimate feng shui hotspot, it was still a decent place overall.
Unless he found somewhere truly outstanding, like the burial site of a deceased god, leaving wasn’t on the table.
On closer inspection, what he hadn’t noticed before was now glaringly obvious—there was something mismatched about the Volcanic Island. Construction was concentrated here while other areas remained undeveloped, creating an imbalance.
His gaze shifted to nearby islands—one of them harbored a towering mountain that overshadowed the Volcanic Island. Unacceptable... Flattening that mountain would make the Volcanic Island more prominent, and with some adjustments, it could transform into an exceptional spot.
Indeed, feng shui wasn’t limited to evaluating sites; it could also be used to modify the environment, turning an unimpressive location into a treasure trove abundant with nature’s spiritual energy, effectively enhancing cultivation efficiency.
The spiritual energy could also be referred to as magic power. In certain contexts, it could even embody climate systems—a global phenomenon influenced by various factors, including Earth’s rotation, solar radiation, lunar gravitational forces, and ocean currents.
Leon suddenly remembered an old joke he’d seen online, tied to a bold idea: the Himalayas, as a geographical divide and climatic barrier, significantly contributed to the drought plaguing China’s Northwest Region. If the Himalayas were blown open to let warm, moist air from the Indian Ocean flow in, the Northwest Region could transform into a water-rich Jiangnan.
In this light, altering the Volcanic Island into a feng shui paradise—or even a heavenly retreat fit for immortals—seemed plausible. However, the scale of such an endeavor was substantial, requiring mountains to be moved and seas to be reshaped.
Altering the ocean was virtually impossible; even the Ocean Goddess could, at most, conjure huge waves to swallow coastal cities or unleash devastating tsunamis. Transforming sea climates and currents would be far beyond her reach.
Unless divine intervention was involved, moving mountains seemed daunting. Still, simply leveling a few peaks or carving a pass wouldn’t be overly difficult.
Leon didn’t rush to have the nearby mountain flattened. With nothing pressing on his agenda, he decided to undertake a major project—to visit the Lost Plateau first before making any decisions. Rather than myopically focusing on the Volcanic Island and its immediate vicinity, he resolved to take a broader view.
Recalling Salovis’s plan to build her nest at the Lost Plateau, Leon decided to bring her along. With that, he dove back toward the Volcanic Island and located Salovis.
"Aren’t you planning to nest at the Lost Plateau later?" Leon asked. "I’m heading there now—come along."
"I’m tired," Salovis said, giving Leon a wistful look. "Are you really not trying to chase me out?"
"If I wanted to push you out, I could do so right now," Leon said impatiently. "Look, I’m giving you a rare opportunity—right now, I have time to escort you and guarantee your safety. Later, if you go to the Lost Plateau alone, any adult White Dragon could easily kill you."
"What White Dragon? The disgrace of the Dragon Clan! They should be kicked out of the Colorful Dragon lineup," Salovis snorted. "An adult White Dragon couldn’t beat me, and even a prime White Dragon wouldn’t be much trouble."
Leon wasn’t interested in her boasting and asked irritably, "Are you coming or not? If not, I’ll leave without you."
"I’m coming, I’m coming," Salovis answered quickly, not daring to act out in front of Leon.
"Master suddenly rushing off to the Lost Plateau—what’s about to happen?" Cecilia asked curiously.
"I’m preparing to accomplish something big," Leon replied.
"What big thing?" Cecilia pressed.
"You’ll find out eventually."
