Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Professional Traceless Beating
Qingyue slowly lifted her head, her expression indifferent, a faint sneer rising at the corner of her lips as she stood by with a "kick them while they’re down" attitude, waiting to see Sang Ning make a fool of herself.
The scriptwriter, wary of the actors getting too tense, spoke up to intervene: "Enough. You’re here to act, not to argue. Spend your time digging into the script more."
Lu Ye didn’t take the scriptwriter’s warning seriously. Seeing Sang Ning remain silent, he assumed she was scared.
Remembering how Sang Ning had publicly embarrassed him in the waiting room earlier, he held a grudge and smiled even more brazenly: "Even a worm can become an actor for this show. Guess we’re really open to anything, aren’t we?"
"Hey, buddy, can you come with me to the dressing room?" Shen Yi walked over and wrapped an arm around the raving Lu Ye.
Lu Ye was baffled and shot him a glare: "What are you, a baby? Can’t go by yourself?"
Shen Yi didn’t speak, simply dragging him out the door.
Lu Ye, confused by the whole thing, didn’t respond until they reached the entrance.
As the door to the rehearsal room clicked shut, Shen Yi’s gaze drifted meaningfully back inside, locking eyes with Sang Ning for a brief moment before fully closing the door.
After Shen Yi dragged Lu Ye out, Wang Qiuhong and Xi Meina stepped forward to comfort Sang Ning. Conscious of the surveillance cameras in the rehearsal room, they kept their voices low.
"Teacher Sang Ning, just hold on, okay? As long as you don’t provoke him, he won’t make things harder for you."
"Just treat him like a fart—let it out and forget it. Don’t take it to heart."
Sang Ning suddenly stood up, startling Wang Qiuhong and Xi Meina.
"Teacher Sang Ning, where are you going?"
"In a bad mood. Gonna go get some air."
Sang Ning shoved her hands into her pockets and headed for the door. Wang Qiuhong shook Xi Meina’s arm: "Is that really what ’in a bad mood’ looks like?"
Seeing Sang Ning storm off with an intimidating air, as though she were about to pick a fight, Xi Meina shook her head: "I don’t know. Maybe everyone has their own way of expressing sadness."
**
"What did you drag me to the changing room for? You better have a reason! Don’t think just because you’re at the top of the charts I wouldn’t dare touch you!"
After pushing Lu Ye into the dressing room, Shen Yi turned back with a sinister glare.
Instead of responding, Shen Yi tilted his head to survey the room before nodding in approval: "The feng shui in here is pretty good."
"Huh?" Lu Ye was dumbfounded, struggling to follow Shen Yi’s logic. "Good how?"
Shen Yi glanced at him, a sly smirk curling at his lips: "Perfect for shady business—murder, arson, thievery, you name it."
Lu Ye’s brain was on the verge of short-circuiting; he couldn’t make sense of a single word Shen Yi was saying.
With a creak, the door handle turned from the outside, and the dressing room door slowly swung open.
A familiar face appeared through the door crack, shocking Lu Ye: "What are you doing here?"
Sang Ning squeezed through the opening, raising her chin toward Shen Yi: "Can you keep watch?"
"I didn’t see or hear anything today." After dropping that remark, Shen Yi exited the dressing room without expression, quietly closing the door behind him.
Sang Ning’s demeanor instantly darkened, her chilling aura creeping in as she stepped toward Lu Ye, her every move radiating an ominous threat.
"What are you planning to do?" The bravado Lu Ye had just exhibited completely faded.
Despite his height advantage over Sang Ning, her overpowering presence in the cramped and dimly lit dressing room seemed to stretch to an intimidating seven feet tall.
Lu Ye felt like a prey cornered by a predator, with no escape in sight.
As Sang Ning pushed him backward step by step, his neck was suddenly grabbed, his cry for help stuck in his throat as his world descended into darkness. All his senses seemed to shut down.
He didn’t know how much time had passed until a deafening ring rattled his ears, making him feel as though his eardrums might tear apart. A disdainful female voice followed.
"I really hate resolving issues like a playground bully, but you just love picking fights that way. I’m not that magnanimous, so I had to teach you a lesson to feel better."
Lu Ye was crumpled to the ground, the pain in his body still lingering. He struggled to lift his head, glaring resentfully at Sang Ning, his voice trembling as he threatened: "Do you believe—"
"Don’t bother—I know. ’Do you believe I’ll have my uncle blacklist you?’" Sang Ning completed his sentence, curling her lips into a dismissive smile before squatting down and yanking his ear with the force of plucking a pig’s ear.
She leaned in close, chuckling softly by his ear: "Your uncle poured billions into promoting a fool like you, yet you’ve made zero splash. Your uncle’s a businessman—he needs profit, and he’s accountable to his shareholders. You don’t seriously think he’ll endlessly bail out a clown like you, do you?"
Lu Ye was baffled; what did that have to do with him asking his uncle to blacklist Sang Ning?
As though she’d read his confusion, Sang Ning twisted his ear into an exaggerated "winged-fan" shape, then coldly explained: "Your uncle’s reputation matters to him. He’s already been dragged through the mud online for wasting time on you, the untrainable slacker. If he blacklists me for your sake, you don’t think vindictive netizens would tear him to shreds?
After all, my online trolls are evolving into a legitimate ’Protect Ning’ squad, and you, a pitiful shrimp with fewer fans than even my haters, really think you can shut them all up?"
Lu Ye burst into tears. Since when were trolls something to be proud of?
"I’ll sue you for assault!" Lu Ye stammered, trembling.
Sang Ning found this hilarious, her gaze even carrying a touch of indulgent affection, as if she were humoring a naïve fool: "There’s no camera in the dressing room. It’s just me and you here. Who’s gonna testify for you?"
"My injuries can testify for me!"
Lu Ye had shifted completely from aggressor to victim, refusing to believe that heaven would let someone as cruel as Sang Ning go unpunished!
Sang Ning, with the efficiency of flipping a pancake, rolled Lu Ye over and thoughtfully began removing his shirt.
Lu Ye tried to resist but failed, watching helplessly as his T-shirt was yanked up, exposing his chest.
Sang Ning slapped his chest like testing a watermelon, disdainfully remarking: "Skinny mutt. Where exactly are your so-called injuries?"
Expert-level invisible beatdowns were her specialty, tried, tested, and trusted by all.
Lu Ye was livid. Being physically humiliated was bad enough, but now his pride was being trampled as well?
Determined to prove he wasn’t some frail pup, Lu Ye strained to flex his chest and abs—but his effort accidentally released a fart.
Humiliated beyond redemption, Lu Ye’s face turned an ashen gray as he squeezed his eyes shut.
Sang Ning pinched her nose in disgust, chastising him with mock seriousness: "I’ll pretend I didn’t smell that this time. Don’t ever do it again!"
Lu Ye’s face reddened to the point of bursting. Despite the risk of another beating, he mustered the courage to squeeze out two trembling words from his throat: "Get out~"
"I didn’t need you to tell me. Smelling your gas isn’t exactly a hobby of mine."
Sang Ning stood, took large strides out of the dressing room, and left.
