Chapter 192: Chapter 192: To Stand Him Up
"He’s alive, just not sure if he’ll make it through." Mo Yuanbin glanced at Li Juezhou lying on the hospital bed and spouted nonsense.
Sang Ning was stunned for a moment. Wasn’t Li Juezhou full of energy this morning? He was running laps with a flowerpot in hand without even breaking a sweat!
"May I ask what kind of accident Li Juezhou encountered?" Sang Ning frowned slightly, a hint of concern flickering in her eyes.
Over the phone, Mo Yuanbin heard her voice turn unusually somber and seized the moment to reel her in with feigned ease: "Oh, it’s nothing big, just food poisoning. He should still survive."
Sang Ning fell silent again. Could it have been the Fly Rice Noodle Restaurant from this morning?
Both of them ate the same thing, and she’s totally fine—why did Li Juezhou end up collapsing?
"Hello, could you tell me which hospital Li Juezhou is at? I’ll come visit him right away!" Sang Ning’s voice was filled with urgency.
If the breakfast she treated him to really caused food poisoning, her guilt would be unbearable!
However, Sang Ning’s anxious tone landed in Mo Yuanbin’s ear with a different implication entirely.
He thought it was heartfelt concern for a sweetheart.
With the idea of enjoying the drama, Mo Yuanbin told Sang Ning the hospital address.
Upon hearing the address, Sang Ning’s mind lit up with a tinge of suspicion.
The hospital where Li Juezhou was admitted seemed to be the most luxurious private hospital in the Imperial Capital.
How does a simple bodyguard afford such high-caliber services?
Life and death come first. Sang Ning decided to temporarily put aside her doubts, hailed a cab, and headed straight for the hospital.

Nanhua Hospital, upscale VIP suite.
Having finished a bottle of IV fluids, Li Juezhou slowly awakened from his unconscious state.
He reached out to massage his still-burning stomach, pressing lightly, then began searching around him for something.
Failing to find what he wanted, Li Juezhou’s eyes snapped open, and he propped his body up, attempting to sit up in bed.
"Hey, brother, are you looking for this?"
Mo Yuanbin suddenly appeared, waving a phone in front of Li Juezhou’s face with a mischievous grin.
Li Juezhou merely cast a cold glance at Mo Yuanbin, said nothing extra, and snatched the phone away.
Unlocking the screen, he saw an overwhelming number of missed calls from Sang Ning, along with several WeChat messages.
Li Juezhou’s heart sank—could Sang Ning have had something urgent to tell him?
Just as he prepared to call her back, Mo Yuanbin reached over and blocked him.
Li Juezhou raised his eyes, and Mo Yuanbin winked with a playful smirk: "No need to call. Your Sangsang is on her way, sprinting to see you right now."
"What happened?" Li Juezhou’s face darkened immediately, shooting murderous daggers at Mo Yuanbin: "You tampered with my phone?"
"Tsk, tsk." Mo Yuanbin clicked his tongue in mock grievance. "Brother Zhou, I work hard to take care of you, and you can’t even spare a word of concern? But now I’m the bad guy?"
Seeing Li Juezhou’s glare grow colder by the second, Mo Yuanbin wilted and quickly retreated his bravado. "Fine, fine, Brother Zhou, don’t look at me like that. I only responded to her because she kept calling and you wouldn’t answer. What’s the harm in replying once?"
Li Juezhou shot him a deadly look: "Dare touch my phone again, and I’ll chop off your hand."
Preparing to call Sang Ning back, Li Juezhou paused before dialing and glared suspiciously at Mo Yuanbin: "Did you say anything sketchy when you answered?"
Mo Yuanbin waved his hands dramatically, sulking: "I wouldn’t dare! I don’t even know what kind of relationship you and your Sangsang have. I simply said you had food poisoning and gave her the hospital address."
"You little punk, just wait!" Li Juezhou smacked Mo Yuanbin’s head with the phone.
He hadn’t even mustered the courage to admit his true identity to Sang Ning, and Mo Yuanbin was out here practically spilling the beans.
Not wasting another second, Li Juezhou immediately called Sang Ning.
Sitting anxiously in the taxi, Sang Ning was frantic after hearing the cryptic words of Mo Yuanbin. She still had no idea how severe Li Juezhou’s condition actually was.
"Driver, can you please drive faster? I’m in a hurry!"
Irritated by how slow the cab seemed, Sang Ning urged him on, nearly tempted to take control of the steering wheel herself.
The driver turned to glance at her, baffled: "Miss, I’m already going as fast as I can!"
Sang Ning gripped her phone in one hand and clung to the backrest of the driver’s seat with the other, wishing she could swap places with him.
"Driver, my friend is about to die. I need to get there to see him off! Please speed up the car if you can!"
The driver’s expression flickered briefly with alarm. Recovering, he slammed on the accelerator: "Miss, why didn’t you say so earlier? I’ll have you there in ten minutes—I’m the fastest driver in my neighborhood!"
The taxi suddenly bolted forward, and Sang Ning was thrust backward into her seat.
Unbeknownst to her, she had accidentally hit the answer button, and her conversation with the driver was fully overheard by Li Juezhou.
Li Juezhou felt his eye twitch. What exactly did Mo Yuanbin say to Sang Ning? How did he end up surrounded by such unreliable friends?
No longer able to stand it, Li Juezhou cleared his throat and opened his mouth: "Sangsang, I’m fine."
Suddenly hearing his familiar voice, Sang Ning glanced at the phone and saw that it was in the middle of a call.
His voice sounded weak, though, and Sang Ning raised the phone to her ear, puzzled: "Why does your voice sound like you’re on your deathbed?"
Li Juezhou felt a pang in his chest—he couldn’t tell if Sang Ning hoped he would recover or if she thought he ought to just succumb.
"I’m fine. I just slipped and got a mild scrape. My friend was joking when he spoke to you; I’m sorry about that, please don’t take it seriously."
Li Juezhou explained earnestly, but Sang Ning wasn’t fully convinced.
"Really? If you’re feeling unwell, don’t fake being strong. If your stomach couldn’t handle the food from the Fly Rice Noodle Restaurant, you should’ve told me beforehand. We’re friends—it wouldn’t have been inappropriate to let me know."
"Wait for me. I’ll be at the hospital in ten minutes, and we can discuss it more in person."
Li Juezhou didn’t want Sang Ning to worry nor did he dare let her visit him at the hospital.
He kept insisting he was fine and outright claimed he wasn’t even at the hospital.
Sang Ning couldn’t outargue him and reluctantly gave up. Pulling the phone away, she told the driver: "Driver, you can slow down and turn around. My friend is doing just fine."
"..."
Li Juezhou bowed his head and let out a helpless smile. Did Sang Ning really think he couldn’t hear?
As the taxi slowed down, Sang Ning brought the phone back to her ear: "How about meeting at the boxing gym tomorrow afternoon—"
Before she finished, Li Juezhou rushed to respond: "I can make it, I promise."
"But I can’t!" Sang Ning instantly shot him down and mentioned her commitment to join President Wang’s live broadcast tomorrow.
Li Juezhou hadn’t expected Sang Ning’s barrage of WeChat messages—a seemingly urgent plea—would turn out to be just about ditching him!
